    One thing fifty years in this hobby has taught me is to keep my mouth shut and my eyes straight ahead. People will do what they will do, and any kind of critique or help, no matter how kindly it’s offered, generally will not make you very popular. If things start to go sideways to the point of being hazardous, I just pack up and head home without comment. Has kept relationships civil, if nothing else, over the years.

      As a member of a flying club if safety is of concern, then the best logical thing to do is address your concerns to the club members during their meetings or a email. If it is so bad as to cause harm to others and the club admins dont hear you report to AMA district reps.
      The worst thing you do is keep your mouth shut. At my club, they will confront the pilot, place on probation and have a safety instructor asign to him/her. On some instances go over the basics and club policies. Either the pilot improves or is unfortunately void his club membership until the deficiensies are corrected.
      We have kicked out mostly fpv guys, they are the worst.

      Well said us pilots have good days and bad days, mojo no mojo if you will...lol.. dude with the .. you're not crashing you're not flying... And after that scratch it go buy another one,. And truly learn from your mistakes, because it can be very grueling to the pilot, to sit here and speculate and criticize some of the pilots here....no.. !!I just have a hard time watching because my thumbs are on the controller right LOL

    Wow, never have I seen so many guys who don’t understand wing loading, CG, the basics of flying or, most importantly, how to trim a plane, in flight, with the controller.

    Some disparaging remarks about some of the “pilots” on display here... Here’s my perspective...
    I once bumped into a couple of brothers who had turned up at an RC Flying Club, hoping to try out their new trainer. There was no one from the club there that day, so they asked the kitchen staff in an adjacent building if it was okay to fly there. One of the cooks said the club didn’t normally meet on that day but there was no problem with them flying if they wanted to. The cook then asked them, “Do you do all that aerobatic stuff?” One of the brothers laughed and blithely replied, “No, we usually take off and spend about 30 seconds, trying not to crash, before taking all the bits home in a bag!” 😳
    Sure enough, their foam trainer soon took off, flew all over the place - seemingly defying the laws of gravity and aerodynamics in the process - and eventually smacked into a stout oak tree, whereupon (just as they had stated) the two brothers picked up all the pieces and put them in a bag they’d thoughtfully brought with them, while pointing out which pieces were easily replaceable or repairable for their next attempt. Far from being despondent, they were genuinely elated with this flight, as they had stayed airborne for well over a minute and felt that they had learned some valuable lessons that they couldn’t wait to put into practice when they next flew...
    While their untutored approach was obviously going to be a needlessly expensive and lengthy path to piloting competence, they still had “the right stuff” that makes hobbies like this what they SHOULD be... An enjoyable pursuit, where *having fun* - preferably in the company of like minded enthusiasts who are helpful yet also have a sense of humour - is the primary objective. How many of us have taken up a hobby as a means of light-hearted, stress free relaxation, only to to end up investing so much precious time, effort - *and hard won cash into it* - that it eventually ceases to be a fun pursuit but actually becomes a serious drain on our limited energy and resources, and just another source of stress and frustration that we were hoping that hobby would rescue us from? 🤷🏻‍♂️
    Be sensible... Fly what’s cheap and cheerful (so you won’t be afraid to learn by exploring “the entire flying envelope”) and FUN, till you can competently master what’s more expensive (and therefore inherently more nerve wracking...) Never invest more than you can comfortably replace and are happy to lose... and just as all the “Gamble Aware” warnings caution against gambling addiction... “When the fun stops, stop.” ✌️😎

    Saw that most out of control crashes was above that building. Although interference should not be possible with modern equipment, we fly close to a distribution centre, and flying above that, we also experience control drop outs.

    I've noticed during the many years of flying many types of RC aircraft. That a large percentage of guys that can build beautiful scale aircraft, are usually not very good pilots.

      I'm a little bit in between, i build and fly all my models. Some are great for flying, some just for looks lol. Some don't even want to fly at all hahaha.

    It appears after watching all this that the wind was a common factor in a lot of these crashes. Foam planes are the worst for it.

    • @Sabotage_Labs
      @Sabotage_Labs 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Foam planes are fine in the wind. You just need basic flight knowledge. I love the wind..especially for my EDF jets. Shortens takeoff rolls and slows landing approach. Most of these guys are stalling their planes and a lot seem to have bad setups to start with.

    Bill - the crash that happens at 4:00 happened to me in the same place, flying a 110mm EDF Viper. Same place, same thing... just went into a spin that looked like a tip stall. Just like this guy, I had a lot of speed and lift. Never knew if it was me or some kind of a radio hit. Your video gives me some vindication -- yeah, that's what happened to me!!! Thanks.

      Had to go look to see which one you were talking about. That was actually me flying a 120 mm EVF powered BVM P-80. To this day I still have no idea of what the heck happened.

    Why is there concrete blocks at the flying field?

    • @bill34207
      @bill34207  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're talking about where the Cub on floats hit, it's the place for turbine start up. The blocks divert the exhaust up and away from the grass.

    also where i fly its 1 at a time if my expensive plane was destroyed because someone could not wait 10 mins that would be his ass whipped real fast that is a joke having multiple people in air at same time
