Narcissists can completely ruin your life and your self-esteem. The lack of empathy is the scary part. It is difficult to describe unless you’ve been through it.

True they can ruin someones life. The best thing is not to allow them, i have a narc mother and i totally refused her to ruin my life, the best way to deal with a narc is to ensure that they know who they are and describe to them their wicked characters, they really feel ashamed although they don't change and they are not sorry for anything at all.

Dr. Ramani is a very special person. She literally saves lives. She has saved my life. After 45 years of not understanding what “I” was doing wrong and trying to be the perfect person, Dr. Ramani said the correct words and the lightbulb went on in my head. You can never win the “game” either as with a narcissist the goal post is forever changing. The gaslighting is real and you never remember things “correctly”. It’s always your fault no matter what the situation is. Remember this. They are never wrong. They will never ever apologize for ANYTHING they have done, regardless of the amount of damage it has caused. Then when that isn’t enough, the stories and lies they tell others about you is baffling. It cuts deep but now I’m learning that if these other people believe this made up stuff about you, they didn’t know you very well AND the reason they don’t defend you is more so that they don’t want to be the next victim in the narcissist world…Dr. Ramani calls these people the “flying monkeys”. When you have been a victim and you can look at it from this perspective it’s so crystal clear. Walk away and save yourself. Have peace in your life.

Very true that they hate that but because narcissists can’t change…they can’t become better people or treat you better or even decent…it’s best to get completely away from them and never be around them again if that’s possible.
But I did what you said when I was married to my narcissist husband….and then I divorced him to get away from him because the abuse just never stops. I also ignored him during the divorce battle….because he battled and tried to prevent it…and I never acknowledged his existence…would look right past him and pretend he wasn’t there….because the second they know you look at them they think that means you still want them and keep bothering you.

When I met one narc whose stalking me now, first thing he would ask is where you went to school because he wanted to tell everyone he went to Cornell, he would bribe regular hospital staff with cookies to do his work faster, he would interrupt conversations; whine about everything on the planet, and most importantly have this weird bizarre death stare.

Most are very mentally abusive and some are both mentally and physically abusive. And very important to remember…there’s no cure or “fix” or medication these people can take to get better…they don’t change because of a tragedy…they don’t learn their lesson…they will always be the same and treat you and everyone else the same bad way. My ex-husband used to even use other people’s tragedies to gain attention and sympathy for himself…he didn’t even care that his friend lost a child…he just used that to get attention for himself…even from the friend that lost the child. They are so twisted and manipulative that they can work people that way. Both of my children with him told him to never contact them again after they turned 18…their 18th birthdays were very freeing for them to finally get him out of their lives…and they hated the court system that forced them to visit him before they turned 18….it’s sad that children and teen minors can’t choose for themselves whether to see a parent or not.

We RARELY see personality disorders in therapy because they're "not the one with the problem." If they do, they manipulate the session. Most ppl say "leave them!" but what if they're your family? Victims need to strengthen their core beliefs through a good therapist for healing. Using a journal will help them by recording what happened for themselves to discern fact vs fiction. Leaving is a very individual decision. Helping you remember your worth and identity is essential. ❤

It is hilarious that this pops up on my feed today. I am convinced that my sister needs psychiatric help like yesterday. Thanks for shining a light on just how much of a narcissist she is - she ticks every box that you mentioned. Add in controlling and a bully and we’ve hit the jackpot. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 She is literally bad for my health - blood pressure up and the sense of dread whenever I saw her name on my phone. I am reading the book now and love Dr Ramani, I am a bit concerned though that many people will look at the selfish people in their lives and label them as narcissists. I know Hoda and Jenna addressed this, and I know that some professionals consider narcissism to be a spectrum, with people exhibiting more or fewer traits, but it’s important to note that true narcissists (those diagnosed with NPD, Narcissistic Personality Disorder) have created a delusional self, more than likely in response to childhood trauma. Narcissists aren’t merely arrogant, they are compensating for a deep insecurity. It’s a sad state of being. I think it’s important not to label every @$$h**l in your life as a narcissist.

He is very evil, high in ego and jealousy. I can't walk out of this relationship because I am not healthy enough to work and support myself. I was healthy but after being forced to put 3 Pfizer vaccines by my father, I became disabled.
He destroyed my life but I appreciate that he is working and providing for the family but that too because of my mother. If not for my mother, I would have to live in a disabled home where there is no future 😢
