This is so helpful, thank you for this video and sharing the pattern! So flattering on you too, I agree with the changes you made like the smaller keyhole, I think it makes it look very harmonious.

This is my favorite pattern - I actually saw the Mary Quant exhibition in London myself.
I have made several versions of the dress - the pattern is easy and then I always go and make it more complicated by adding some collars or other details that I design myself and that will take me twice as long as the rest of the dress :-)

This is such a nice pattern, isn’t it? I also love to tinker with a pattern to add personal touches. The dress is now truly custom-made and one-of-a-kind! 😁

I downloaded the pattern. I have a fabric “Feeling Groovy” that is perfect for it. Planning to sew it in a week or sew. The buttons will be fabric covered buttons (flowers from the fabric).exciting!

    Hi Billie,
That dress silhouette is just perfect for you. The print that you chose for the first version with the white collar could have been on the runway when it premiered in the 1960's. The tights put it right over the top! I also agree that using denim gives the second dress a more contemporary appearance and is probably more frequently useful. I have recently sewn five pairs of denim jeans and tried different methods of topstitching. The best outcome and best machine function was by using regular thread with the straight triple stretch stitch. It results in a beautiful thick and even topstitch without stressing the machine with heavy thread. It also gives you the option of any color topstitching instead of the limited colors available in what is marketed for designated topstitching thread.

Thank you, Jane, for this great tip!!! I still have a yard of this denim fabric left and will definitely try your tip for my next denim project. 😘😘😘

I found your channel when looking through the Frugal Frocks reveals. I have now subscribed for several reasons- your clear, concise delivery, your detailed description of the making up process, the tips that you gave on how to make sure the dress fits and your great style. I love both your versions, the dark denim especially, and they are my favourites of all the Frugal Frocks Revealed so far. I live in London, England, and went to the Mary Quant exhibition ( several times actually) and kept meaning to make up the free pattern, now you have given me more inspiration to do so. I am looking forward to your future blogs and will be working my way through your previous blogs.

Hi Billie, Beautiful makes as always!! I love your style and the progress you've made to different silhouettes 😍. May I please ask about those gorgeous red heels? Where did you buy them or brand name?

Hi Sally, thank you! 😘. The red suede heels are from Marc Jacobs (which I’m a big fan of). I thrifted these from Poshmark so unfortunately I have no idea when they first came out.😘

@@billiessewingcorner7213 aww thanks so much for replying! Can't wait to see what else you make that can be paired with these red heels! 🥰 can you please do a video of your plans for your wardrobe? The kinds of things that inspire you as you sew new dresses and so on? Or maybe a video where you look through fabric options online and select ones for your future makes? ❤️💕 Would really love to hear from you on how you plan your projects! Have a brilliant day!

Hi Sally, actually I do not plan anything for sewing! 😂 (A big reason is that I do not need anything in particular, working from home still. 😂). So now I just make whatever strikes my fancy though generally I do use a pattern several times before i move on to another pattern. 😘
