    I wanted one of those funnels and like you said sold out. Amazon has a similar locking shorter version for those that are interested. Worked well on my 21 explorer and 18 f150. I use one of your other methods and stab the oil filter on my explorer and let it drain before i unscrew. Genius common sense

    You know if all of the auto manufacturers engineers had to work on the vehicles that they designed, your job would be easier. Watching you using that oil filter wrench on that Ford, to me it should have been easier for you. It took you longer to take that filter off than it me to take the oil filter off of my 2012 Ram 1500 two wheel drive with with 4.7. I use the cup shaped oil filter wrench, which fits snug. I like that you took time to advertise & do a how to oil & filter change. You’re talking about the oil smelling like fuel in it, reminded me when the ole mechanical fuel pumps would have a diaphragm fail & dump gas in the crankcase. Keep the great information coming, have yourself a great day today

    • @FordBossMe
      @FordBossMe  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah whenever the filters are extremely tight and they've been sitting on an auction lot for months before being sold what ends up happening with those cups is they end up basically opening up and swelling because you're having a crank down on those filters too tight and they end up slipping and wearing out where this tool is not going to do that because it's thicker than those cups

    Love your channel I wanted to ask you a question and your opinion. I currently have a 2013 F150 with the 6r80 transmission with the 5.0. Which is a pretty bulletproof drivetrain. I'm currently sitting at 70k miles do you recommend getting a trans flush or just changing the transmission filter and doing a partial fluid change. All the popular Ford Forums on Facebook say if you get a transmission flush it will mess it up.

    • @FordBossMe
      @FordBossMe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That can be hit or miss I've changed people's transmission fluid entirely and the filter at 70 to 80,000 miles because it was still really clean and really good and never had a problem but most people at 70,000 miles would just do the filter and partial either way you go you're going to be good just let the transmission Tech look at the fluid before the service is done

      They work really well the thing is you have to really understand the mechanics behind it a lot of people keep grabbing the two handles and try to pull them together and that's not the way it works beside stays fixed and the thin piece in the middle rotates into it so I have some video showing how to use it a little bit more but I think you'll get the concept of it even Rain Man Ray has a couple videos of me using it or you can actually go to the JM3 TH-cam channel or tick tock and they show how to use it as well

    • @FordBossMe
      @FordBossMe  ปีที่แล้ว

      The biggest issue that you're going to run into with that is the sync system and possible front cover and oil pan leaks every once in awhile that 2.3 l will have a coolant intrusion problem where coolant will escape past the head gasket into the cylinders

  • @free2chasehappy

    Hi Rich, I do not know where to ask so I thought I ask you here.
    I have a 2002 Crown Vic, woke up to 16°F weather. Wanted to warm up the car before going to work. Turned the car over and it sounded like it is misfiring terribly and then it died. Had to start it a couple times more (pumping the gas pedal and all) before it stayed on. What could be the problem?
    Never had any problems before until it got this cold.
    Thanks!

    • @FordBossMe
      @FordBossMe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pumping the gas pedal doesn't help anything all that does is hold the throttle blade open and it disables the injection from happening and then you clear the intake manifold out of any type of fuel
      Make sure you turn the key on let the fuel system Prime for about 10 seconds turn the key back off turn it back on Let It Prime for about 10 seconds and then try to restart if it starts better you have a fuel pressure issue but if it doesn't start any better I would be looking into a tune-up

    Love your videos and am subscribed. I have a question, we have a 2021 explorer with the 2.3L turbo engine in it that I love. It can sound kind of scary at times, like massive piston slap during low to mid rpms when accelerating but overall I love the power from it and the gas mileage. So my question is, are you seeing any common problems with that engine or red flags? I installed an oil separator when it was new and that's about all I've done to it. That noise I described as piston slap probably isn't what it is, sounds like a rattle can though when accelerating. I always use premium so it shouldn't be spark knock. Just curious as to what you are seeing.

    • @FordBossMe

    What's with all the oil residue under there? 😳 Seems like that shouldn't be there on a rig with less than 50k on it...

      It's called a hub actuator seal leak and I have the demonstration in the library on the new explorers how to fix it that's not part of this video so that's why it wasn't mentioned

    Looks like the last LOF was done at my local Toyota dealership. Mongo puts them on tight.

    Don't think these would work on the Ford Freestar . Was one of the worst oil change nightmares . Hardly any room to get a filter wrench and someone gorilla'd the last filter . The filter wrench crushed the lower end of the filter casing . Finally had to use an air chisel on the filter base plate . Just don't understand why anyone has to over tighten filters or oil pan drain nuts .
    Just had a 2016 Chevrolet Trax with over torqued drain nut . It's a soft 10 mm head with wide flange . Only supposed to torque to 14 nm . Another stupid design from GM. 10 mm and soft metal equals pain in the ass . They even have 14 nm on the oil pain by the nut .

      Actually these will work on a Ford Freestar much better than other tools

    That oil filter must had been on there tight or something. Probably would be nice if they had like a thicker handle instead of thinner handles. Oh well, good job, sorry that killed ya hand for a bit.

    Person who wrenched it that tight for no reason should be shunned or taken his opportunity away from working on cars. But awesome wrench on my list

    If ppl or business's would put the oil filter on the correct way you shouldn't have to struggle to get the oil filter off.
