I followed all of the steps but my USB connected wireless mouse still isn't working. mouse pad works but not wireless mouse. I also switched to a different mouse that worked on my other laptop, and that also did not work on this dell laptop. Do you have any other suggestions?

Update: i went to the manufacturer's website and downloaded the driver back manually from their self-serve section. i restarted my laptop and now the touchpad works again!
Interestingly, when i did the "uninstall" you suggested, my laptop no longer recognized having a touchpad, because it was removed from the listings in the Device Manager.

If your mouse or touchpad doesn’t work try to go to settings and go to touchpad then you will see touchpad if you do press on but i don’t know if this might work cuz im on a japanese laptop so if it doesn’t work not my problem 😎

Try Repairing Windows
Search cmd then run as admin and execute the following 3 commands one by one-
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Restart.
Once Done Trying Running System File Checker SFC Scan
sfc /scannow
Restart.
Windows Updates-
Install all the latest Updates and then Restart the PC.
