That power usage chart was super interesting. I didn't know most of the Instant Pot power usage was near the beginning! The rest of the cook time it was very low (except one spike). Thanks for including that info for all us analytical people out there :) haha

Been scouring bad advice on Reddit and TH-cam for this: how to power a 3qt instant pot, and will the EcoFlow River 2 Pro be sufficient? The data you’ve provided shows it does. Thank you! It means a lot.

@@Savagegloryphot Thank you so much for your note!!!! The whole reason I started this channel was looking for instant pot information that I couldn’t find.
I am working on another Instant Pot video that will be out in the next few weeks. I hope you will come back for that one too! 😊 Thanks! Katy
PS FYI, Many of my videos feature the EcoFlow River 2 Pro. I have several using an induction cooktop and have one on a microwave that will work with it too. I really like the EcoFlow.

The Ecoflow River Pro has a 600w (1200w surge) inverter. You were reading it's Wh capacity @720 Wh @ 28.8v

Hi Steve - OH, Now I understand what you mean. My initial comment back was based on looking at my phone and I misunderstood your comment. Thanks for pointing that out.... I was looking at the total specs and missed where it had the per outlet spec - I have the River 2 Pro and have used it many times with the Instant Pot I will see if I can somehow post edit this with TH-cam. If nothng else, I will do it in the first pinned comment. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE FEEDBACK! I don't have the original River, but have the River 2 Pro. I really appreicate your input and pointing out my error! THANK YOU!!! Katy

Your video was quoted by Gemini Google AI for an example that an instant pot does not use the full wattage listed on the the device, for the full duration of cooking. I will consider using an instant pot to cook beans and pasta while using solar / battery power of a camper van.
My main power draw will be my laptop, and I can control the power it uses, but want to use it many hours per day. I have other devices such as lights, power to aid devices associated with a diesel heater and some miscellaneous other small things occasionally.

Hi! Thanks for your comment and for letting me know about the quote! The Instant Pot was why I started my channel as I couldn't find any real information about energy usage.
If you haven't seen my microwave video, most microwaves use MORE than the quoted amount as far as instanteous power goes, so when people try to use a portable power station, they are surprised it doesn't work - the microwaves advertise the cooking power. On the power tag, they give a power consumption number - this must be an average of some type, because the instanteous is definately higher by a significant amount. This was an eye opener to me....
      Thanks again! Katy

PLEASE NOTE: ON MY POWER STATION CHART, THERE IS AN ERROR. The EcoFlow River 2 Pro (800Watt Inverter) works great; the EcoFlow River Pro (original) will not. It only has a 600 watt Inverter.. I misread a spec.. Thanks to Steve Burritt for sending a note giving me a heads up! Katy
    Chickpea Lemon Soup
Serves 4-6; makes about 10 cups of Soup
    1 tablespoon Olive Oil
1 large red onion, diced (2 cups)
2 celery ribs or leaves** of, diced
    4 garlic cloves, minced
    6 cups vegetable broth
3.5 cups freshly cooked chickpeas or 2 - 15 ounce can chickpeas, drained and rinsed*
    1 tsp dried dill
    ¼ tsp dried oregano
    2 tsp dried thyme
    1 tsp table salt
    ¼ tsp ground pepper
    1 cup shredded carrots
2 cups of kale or spinach, roughly chopped
2-3 lemons that are zested and juiced (4 TBSP juice needed)
Add cooked chicken at the end if desired - 2 cups works great!
Heat a pot (3 quart minimum) to medium and then add oil, onion and celery. Cook until translucent (about 5 minutes). Then add garlic and cook for another 30 sec to 1 minute until the garlic becomes fragrant.
Add the chickpeas, dill, oregano, thyme, salt and pepper. Reduce heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for 15 minutes and stir a few times while cooking. Stir in the spinach/kale and cook for about 10 more minutes until greens have softened.
Remove from heat and serve. Add 4 TBSP lemon juice and 2 TBSP lemon zest to soup. Pass around the remaining lemon juice and zest for individual customization! Add salt and pepper to taste.
    Recipe Notes:
*Substitute one can of chickpeas with rinsed red lentils (1 cup), for a more stew-like texture.
** When using celery leaves instead of diced celery, add the celery when adding the spinach.
*** Add cooked shredded chicken when adding spinach, if desired
**** A dutch oven, soup or pressure cooker pot, (3 quarts minimum), can be used.
    ***** Freezes well!
I cooked this in a 3 Quart Instant Pot using the sauté function. The IP consumed 300 Wh while cooking and took 30 minutes total.

Hello Katy thanks for the good review.
I have a bluetti eb3a it's only got a 600w inverter but has got power lifting mode which allows it to run higher wattage.
Do you think it will? Also if you run the steam pressure on low will it use less power?
    Thanks
    Robert

      Hi Robert!
I did test that and should have shown it. The Instant Pot will only run about 30 seconds in power lift mode. Not sure why as I have run other things in PL mode and they worked. I suspect they sense more than just Power (maybe current or voltage) and shut down for protection. I will try it again and if I can figure out the mechanism, I will make a video of the mechanism.
My 3 qt Instant pot is one of the very early versions, so they may work differently now also.
I also tested all the other modes like slow cook and saute. The device is either on or off and is using the 700 watts. I really wish the IP had more control, so at least for the slow cook, etc, we could use our 600W devices.
I have found a 600W pressure cooker - Is that something you would be interested in seeing a test of? I love my Bluetti EB3A and know that lots of people have them as I do and want to be able to use it at a picnic table, etc., even if they have a larger power station..
I did buy a EcoFlow River 2 Pro and use that now for the IP and it works great. I also use a Montek 1000 with the IP (Note - i made a mistake in the video and showed on a chart that the 600w River Pro would work - that is not the case and I put a note in the description and pinned comment - I was going by its specs and someone pointed out a second spec that took it out of the ballgame).
Anyway, let me know if you would be interested in seeing me test a 600W pressure cooker and I will!
I do have a video on the NuWave Induction cooktop and a microwave that you can run with your EB3A - they have an on-board inverter and make it to we can use our EB3As

My next video will be out in the next few days - making brownies that will work with your Bluetti! I am in the midst of editing that video.
I hope you will come back and watch that one too!
Thanks so much for your comment! ♥️
