I agree I like to make small 32x48 Lego Mocs and I want to create lots of different worlds, we’ve only had 501st troops for years and I’ve run out of other clones to use.

They could have used it for cover (after all, at least the speeders have cover panels unlike the BARC ones)

I don’t mind the helmet holes but I have to agree that I’d rather have another clone legion for a battlepack since the 332nd were only in one battle. A plain p2, 327th, 91st, or Wolfpack battlepack would be amazing in the future.

The fact that David didn't even comment on it is evidence of why - most people don't even know or care that he has a completely different set of markings. To most people he's just a 332nd trooper with a sun visor.
also the fact that his stomach area is supposed to be grey I think (I looked up images online and some have it grey and some have it white so I'm not 100% sure)

I personally ordered 1 from AliExpress. It looks way more accurate. If Lego won't give me an accurate one, then China will xd

Imo they were never really anything more than 501st troopers, they're not really a separate group from the 501st, and to me, their orange ahsoka helmets were only ever there to make order 66 more tragic, the ahsoka helmet 501st troopers fulfilled their purpose as visual storytelling for when order 66 was executed, and it worked. Anymore screentime for the 332nd outside of order 66 wouldve been unnecessary
It’s a tragedy on how they were set up, won the siege on Mandalore and then order 66 happened. That’s the point lol

@@tomnookiithere is very little time between the 332nd being created and order 66 being issued so I agree that there is no way we can see more of them. They didn't exist after the clone wars and had no reason to do so.

That would require pauldrons and kamas and LEGO knows that 1) they dont wanna make those and 2) it would piss off fans way too much if they didnt make them

I think the reason LEGO chose to make this battle pack is because, even three years later, the 332nd clones are still popular and fans continue to want more of them.
I’d like to point out that “swamp speeder” is just a nickname. These infantry support platforms (ISS) were used in a variety of environments, so they very well could have been used on Mandalore, even though we never saw them.
I haven’t gotten a battle pack since 2009, but I think I might get this one!

it's technically not exclusively a swamp speeder in the lore but yeah it makes no sense for this vehicle to be on mandalore in any sense, especially with vaughn lol

@@skinnyj123 Yeah firstly you are stupid to thing that these two would cost them like move the place of the helmet holes from where they are to like half a millimeter down to where it should and also I didn't say to make one helmet holes to every clone I said to those who don't need two Clone commanders don't need two and jet troopers make one to them and it doesn't cost them anything they already have the equipment ready butyo they are just lazy and cut corners to make money while those things cost almost nothing and don't tell me that they don't have the money because they are a billionaire company and nowadays charge 170€ for 1000 pieces

Other than the helmet holes, I see this set as an absolutely win. Desirable troopers en masse. (And yes, we need regular Phase 2 clones!)

It IS a battle pack, just because LEGO overpriced it doesn’t change that fact. Also no one cares if there are different torsos, still 501st and mostly the same parts.
@@voidstudios7460 a battle pack also doesnt have 6 Figures and almost 300 pieces 🤡 and the second one had 4 Figures with 3 different torso & leg prints, 2 different helmets and for the first time ever we got blue Accessoires. These both sets are about as different as it gets.

The helmet holes definitely don’t bother me as much as other people. Just how I feel about it. Will definately be picking up many of these.
The small stud launcher reminds me of the small turret that the Captains have as an ability in SW Battlefront 2
I think the thing that bothers me most about these packs is honestly the price. 20$ seems so steep
It definitely is compared to the old $12 battle packs. But at the same time, $5 a figure is pretty much a steal at this point for army building rather than spending $6-$10 per figure (or more) on the resale market. Lego knows this, that’s why they set the price where it is.
Even the $30 501st battle pack with 5 clones divides to $5 per trooper if you count the battle droids, which are the same 20 year old figure that older fans have a million of and are cheap to buy in bulk. So in that set the clones came out to more than $5 per figure. Not considering the builds in this because when you’re buying multiple copies of the same set a lot of those prices go straight into the spare parts bin.

Huh it would seem the white gaps in the print near the cheek area are consistent in this set. I hope the review copies sent to Matt and David are just your random misalignments and not standard factory like the 212th, so if that bothers anyone the rumored shock troopers will have the same issues most likely. Very minor but still a inconsistency that wasn’t seen in the previous helmet.

the helmet holes have done nothing good for the clones lmao, a funny thing is that as soon as the added the holes the top of the helmet also got worse, happened with the 212th andwith these ones, the prints are too split or too high, and in the 212ths case way too low
we need more plain characters. Like a plain p1 and p2 clone pack, or a plain stormtrooper one. And we definitely need some rebel troopers and something along the line of a pirate or mando battlepack. There’s way too many named characters right now
I completely agree, we need a plain phase II clone battle back! And a droid battle pack/cheap set with many droids good for army building
I think I’m going to paint one of my visors for Vaughn, since It’s just an accessory that you get 4 of.

I honestly have no issue with the helmet holes. I think people forget that legos are for kids, they’re for customization. It’s not a UCS set
The point of Vaughn here is that they didn’t want to fully commit to putting a named character in a battlepack, so their solution was to make a pseudo-Vaughn that has all of his physical equipment (visor, badge, and jetpack) but not his paint like the red under his eyes and chin, the visor attachment things, the grey belly and the painted arms) so it can act as a basic generic clone for those that want to army build with the set. And also they probably didn’t want to make like a 7th set based on the SoM later on just so they could give us a proper Vaughn.
I like the helmet holes, the option for attachments is nice, I do think they should really update the visor though

yeah, especially with the new macrobinocular piece the old visor and antenna look dated, hopefully in a year or two we'll get a new version of them

If LEGO redesigns the phase II helmet again, I hope they still find a way to make the helmets "customizable." I would hate for a lot of the new pieces we got for the helmets (the macrobinoculars) to be obsolete so soon. Or if they make new visor pieces, make them backwords compatible with the previous phase II helmets and the old phase I helmet.
Id love to see Lego make a plain p2 clone soon too, I didnt realize how long it has been. I have 1 from one of the older christmas calendars but thats that. Id also like to see more legions, like the wolfpack.
I am hopefully definitely going to pick up one or a few. I especially love how they can be mixed to create normal 501st troopers cause i did not get any of the original battle pack

Low key cool that I’m gonna be able to make 333nd scouts, officers, and heavies with the other 501st battle pack, and regular more 501st troopers as well. Makes the 501st specialist pack more appealing to own more of now IMO.
Honestly complaining about the helmet holes feels so pointless to me. As you said, they're only really noticeable from directly side on or if you point them out and the reality is most of helmet accessories (apart from the like binoculars thingy from the specialist pack) attach above that part of the helmet in universe anyway.
Overall, a pretty good battlepack but I wish we just got some more colours of clone troopers. I prefer variety over army building and rn my clone display is so overwhelmingly blue and orange its depressing me

This was a great review explaining why it’s good and why not, it was awesome to meet you at BrickFair and hope I can see you at Chantilly. I’m definitely getting one day 1 but I probably going o pick up 2 more when they are on sale.

I really like the 212th figures; I can get past the printing and holes. I would love to see a plain, 212th, 327th, and shock clone battle packs.

I’ve never understood the gripe with helmet holes, given that Mandalorians have had helmet holes for over a decade and nobody complained about that :/
Mandalorian helmets like Phase 1 helmets had the holes integrated during moulding. It was planned from the start. Phase 2 helmets however weren't designed to have holes, so they had a detail on the helmet for where attachments would go in universe which is still visible as it's just below the hole.
I don't think it looks amazing but I do look the extra customisation that comes with it. Also, since they've done the helmet holes, the prints on the helmets of every clone since has been slightly bowed on the helmet, seems to be for some reason that the holes have caused a printing issue, not noticable to everyone but it does suck

I don't see the big deal with the holes in the helmet. It allows you to attach the helmet attachments, that's a huuuuge plus that has always bothered me about the Phase II helmet since 2014(?) when it first came out. The modular helmet system between this new helmet, the Mandalorian helmet, and the Phase I helmet, is absolutely a great thing in my opinion.
However, 501st... again? Now this is getting ridiculous. Any other group would have been fine, except perhaps Kashyyyk ones because those we've had a ton too. But I agree, plain ones are what we really need.
I appreciate getting Vaughn... I feel like named characters do not belong in battle packs. We also need an updated Rex, and for the love of TCW, FIVES. I also feel like we should get a new jetpack back attachment piece for Vaughn, Cody, Sabine, etc. It's a common design, very distinct from the bigger bulkier "missile" style jetpacks, and just, backprints I don't feel cut it.
Not sure I will get this... I already have so many 501st troopers from the previous 3 sets... and there's still no Rex to lead them. hmm...
The reason people don’t like the holes is because it looks ugly. There already seemed to be a spot that would be perfect for a hole and yet they put a hole above that spot. They just went the lazy route and put a hole in which just doesn’t look natural.
@@Drooook I suppose they could have extended that section, but that may have instead warped dimensions of the helmet such that wouldn't look as accurate anyways. The hole needs to be where it is for the visor to line up. I feel like people wouldn't complain if the hole had been there from the beginning like it should have been; haven't heard the same complaints about the Phase I helmet.

I like these two battle packs, sure a plain one would be good, but happy to wait. The holes are meh, not bothered either way tbh, although my preference would be if they kept the actual holes to get rid of the lower white hole.
I don't mind the helmet holes on the clone trooper minifigures. I will definitely get the battle pack. Two of them specifically.
A plain white phase 2 clone battle pack would be incredible. Maybe three helmets that don’t have the holes for regular troops, and one helmet with the holes for a clone commander with grey accessories. Furthermore, I think the clone commander should have soft goods shoulder pauldron and waist cape.
I’d love for a droid battle pack with a jump jet B2, normal B2s and maybe a Crab Droid or a couple Commando Droids.

We definitely do need a regular p2 clone trooper. And not just a single fig in a set, like in 2013. We need a battle pack so we can army build…. It’s funny that the most common type of clone is actually one of the rarest ones too
three battle packs I'm hoping for is a shore trooper battle pack, plain phase 2 pattle pack and a sepratise battle pack.
Lego could've definitely made a more accurate "commander" mold for all these clones that are coming out, Cody, Vaughn, soon Fox; at the very least a new visor mold, but they keep cutting corners and giving us the bare minimum and I personally am not ok with that. Hope they keep listening to feedback.
I would love for them to do battle packs with generic clones without characters in them like this. I just want all the same clones bc it'd be weird to have multiples of characters. I'd like more sets like 8014 back in the day.

I'm glad that Vaughn is a very plain minifigure. I think it would be cool to get multiples of this set and use his torso to make different leaders and commanders for my 501st army.
After seeing the leaked pictures I was worried that the prints would be messed up like they are on the 212th but I'm glad they are not! I will be getting at least 3 of these!!

The only things that could have made this set better would be if Vaughn was just slightly more accurate and if one of the 332nd troopers was swapped out for a plain p2 trooper, since they were seen fighting alongside the 332nd on Mandalore.

The helmet swap idea was my first thought when they announced this pack. Planning on having one normal 332nd pack and a swapped 501st with a regular helmet Vaughn
will say that having one or two clone troopers with the hole in the helmet does give you the option to turn it into a cheap and effective commander or someone with higher rank than the basic clone trooper grunt. I dont know if I would get this set but its nice to see that the build isnt a walker but a speeder.
Although I don’t like the helmet holes at least they are good in the way of not ruining value of other collectibles
Vaughn is missing the dark orange stripe in his helmet. I wish that that was included to at least make it a different helmet.
He’s basically missing everything that makes it his helmet. Vaughn overall design is identical to Cody with paint difference.
Vaughn all he has is the captain sign other than that he is a normal trooper he has nothing special

I honestly don't understand the helmet hole hate. The vizors that slip into that slot fall off so easily. The holes make them more secure. Also it's a Minifig not a sculpture

My main problem with the helmet holes I have they are used for old attachments from 2009 that look bulky ugly. It's a lazy solution

The reason Lego needs to make plain white clones, is that us OG army builders can take our sharpies and make them whatever legion we want!
I really dont feel the same as you with the swamp speeder. I mean, I get your point about accuracy, but I prefer that lego makes an effort to recreate a real vehicle from star wars than some weird supermarket cart of f'd up zamboni like they did way too often.
Battlepacks are overall quite expensive for what you get. Having figures and a smaller fun build is better than figures and basic parts.
Regarding plain troopers, I somewhat agree. Yes, I'd like to see p2 clones from time to time, but since they have a lot of legions featuring one or two figures ever released, I also feel like they should keep doing named legions with their schemes as they do know. I'm sure they can squeeze another battle pack in though, it's not like they have to redesign the figure from the ground up anyways.
Most battlepacks are actually based on an in universe vehicle except the turrets with the 6 shooter stud shooter thing
I'm totally onboard with Lego making a plain P2 trooper pack. All they need to do is make the helmet since the P1 packs have the legs/torsos so no new designwork needed there.

I definately buy battle packs for the figures and use the orher parts for customs. Easy pick up-like it.
