Some doors are labeled "Solid Core", however they aren't all solid with the same top material. You showed a pine veneered door that had a core made of particle board or a similar product that sometimes needs a little sanding. In those cases you may need a very light coating of an oil-based finish to seal the veneer, sand it lightly then finish it with the final coats of water-based poly. Again, this is a great pro-tip from your other channel that goes well with this topic. Jamie: Great job on this video and you covered all the bases very well and didn't go overboard like I sometimes do (can you tell with these comments?).

Agree 100% about water based and UV. If it’s in the sun, use a water based finish.
