Outstanding effort! I admire the level of patience this piece of art represents. Colored pencil seems to be the most tedious of all mediums - but worth it to achieve such exquisite results.
How is this hand-drawn I seriously can't believe this isn't the reference photo you are extremely talented and I am in aww at how amazing all of your drawings are
I'm so glad I found you. I'm a prison officer but art is my passion. I draw really well but recently I have started using faber castel Pitt pencils and bought some prisma colour (which I hate as they don't mix well for me ) I have had a lot of trouble with black and with white also realistic fur effect. You have helped me so much with your videos. People like you with your talent are an absolute godsend for people like me. Thank you so much for your free videos. :)
I tried to use Turpentine to blend a Polychromos drawing of a face I did a while ago, and it turned out AMAZING, it really stepped up the drawing, making it look more realistic. THANK YOU, I would have never even think to use this on a colored pencils drawing !
Fantastic! I hate to admit it, but I didn't know you could use paint thinner with colored pencil. So kind of you to share these videos , and the supplies used. You answered my question, which was where to get reference photos. I am really inspired by you & your work!
Beautiful Lisa. I love the way you've captured his soulful, gentle eyes. Truly the essence of these magnificent creatures. This is probably one of my favorites of your work. (I took a peek at the photo and I also love the way you pumped up the colors and highlights. Brilliant choices.)
Lisa, this was so enjoyable to view. I have been attempting to use those Faber Castell water soluble pencils. I am quickly gaining a great appreciation for you and all the others that use graphite and color pencils to create your art work. This leopard is fantastic. Your work with the colors are so exciting. Again, thanks for this and all you do to encourage others to work with the tools of the arts. Great work. Thanks.
Lachri Fine Art, It wasn't much, but I just posted it to the challenge. It was an experience because I have never used pencils in this way. It is a start. Thanks again for your support.
Hi Lisa, this black leopard look really great with this blues and purples, I love what you've done :) I love the blurry background as well. A few days ago I made a background with circles of light through the branches of a tree, I really enjoy trying new things on my pastel paintings. Thank you for inspiring us :)
Beautiful leopard! I think glossy black fur is more difficult than white fur to express, and yes my hermit crabs climb their cage all the time. Some time I don't even know how they get way up in their cage.
Rhonda Magee It depends on how much is on my brush. Here I used so much that it could take one to two minutes to dry. If I have less on my brush it will dry almost instantly as Alex Valentino said :D
You never seize to amaze me - this is gorgeus! I love the colors in the fur. I am going out to buy some luminance pencils, but a whole set is simply to expensive - which colors are a must? I already have all of the polychromos, so i was thinking white, but what else?
Wow! I really love the colors you are using Lisa. Beautiful! A artist that I was watching a little bit ago was drawing a cat and was using a lot of the same techniques you are using. Check her out if you can. Its JenW Fine Arts. She only has a couple videos but is very talented like you.
Is the prismacolor pencils really that bad? (That's just me trying to defend my 132 set) I should try Luminance or Polychromonos someday, but am satisfied with my set's performance so far.
I really like this drawing. It´s gorgeous. Would it be possible for you to make a tutorial how to draw a dalmatian. It is one of my favourite dog breeds and i tried several times to draw one, but i just don´t know how to make it look realistic.
+Peter Conneely Don’t drink it. Leave the lid on it when you’re not using it. Don’t sit there huffing it. Keep it away from your pets and children. I’m quite sensitive to toxic things and this has never bothered me as long as I follow the guidelines I listed. As an oil painter, this paint thinner is one of the least toxic materials I work with. You have to decide for yourself what you are or are not comfortable with.
Hi, Can you please explane to me how can I do layers? - Do you make first light colors? Maybe you said it in video, but I don´t uderstand english very well :) Thank you so much :) Yours paintings are so beautiful :)
This is really helpful doing the black fur and I just got a set of pencils by KOH-I-NOOR that say "polycolor". The review said they are similar to the polychromos. Are you familiar with these polycolor pencils by KOH-I-NOOR?
Lachri this is SO amazing, I have a little question: Can I use Turpentine instead of MLO paint thinner? If not, when can I use Turpentine, and what for.
Hey Lisa... love your videos.. I'm from Australia .. :} they are keeping me inspired to work on my art whilst having chemo... last one next month WOOHOO!!! oops off trak.. just wondering if you've done a video in acrylic of a fresian horse??? cant remember n I may have a commission .... thanks x
Me again, meant to leave my last comment about the sharpener on your supply list video but the video ended when I wasn't looking and the black leopard video started. BTW, THANKS!, for the blurred background tutorial - the lack of layers is what was not working for me. Cannot wait to try your technique on my next painting.
Just curious, how long does it take your paint thinner to dry...I've not tried this yet...I'm no where as proficient as you are. Everything you do is so very beautiful!
Debbye Hicks It depends on how much is on my brush. Here I used so much that it could take one to two minutes to dry. If I have less on my brush it will dry almost instantly :)
+Lachri Fine Art do you have any tips to learn to draw better? Bc watching your videos always inspires me to try! But then I remember that I am terrible at it! So if you have any tips i would love to hear them so so much!!!
Hello I love your tutorials, I'm from Barcelona I would like you to solve a question please, are the drawing colors acrylic or are pastel pencils? What is the role you use Thank you very much for sharing your art. I learn a lot from you Sorry I'm using the translator because I do not know English
What is the different between luminance pencils and polychromos? I only have polychromos since yesterday but I don't know anything about luminance pencils :)
Derwent drawing is a bit more opaque but it's also thicker and not as good for fine detail. I like both the derwent drawing and the luminance together for different things.
For those who don't have Photoshop and want to see individual colors in your reference photos you can use a free tool from adobe to accomplish the task. color.adobe.com/create/color-wheel/ Simply click the photo icon on the right and upload your picture to get started.

I have a question, i want to start selling my art, but i dont feel as if my art is at a high enough quality and is too messy. How should i go about being neater and how should i start selling my art?
Hi Lisa. A sharpener that I have become addicted to, which was recommended by a former friend is the Rapesco 64 Sharpener (it's a hand-crank pencil sharpener.) Tough to find in the U.S. where I bought mine via eBay from England. The seller didn't sell to U.S. buyers but I begged her and she complied. What I love about it is the extra long point it puts on the pencil and the fact it auto stops sharpening once the point is done. Look at it online and tell me what you think.
Hey Lachri! I really love your channel, 'cause of your cool tutorials and speedarts and as well of your helpful tips! But I have got one question... Can I use babyoil as solvent? Would you recommend that? MG Emanuel! :)
No, baby oil won't be archival. It's fine for crafters who are making cards etc, but for fine art where you want your work to last, I strongly recommend against it. Besides archival issues, baby oil doesn't really dry so adding additional layers isn't going to be possible like it will with OMS. :)

If you don't have paint thinner can you you use one of the blender things for pencils? And can I get the same effect with Fabre castle pencils

Is it possible to achieve this texture without the thinner ? If yes, how ?
By burnishing.

Panthers are both leopards and jaguars, there just black(ish)
Any videos on how to sketch because that's my problem
Also anoher questions so sorry do you just color and then use paint thinner? And then add fur lines or are they just fur lines
I shade everything in and add fur lines over it after blending. I go back and forth doing that until I get it how I want it to look :)
How do you keep the whiskers white when doing the fur? Do you just color around them?
Alex Valentino I add white luminance first, then later on go back over it with more white luminance.
its so realistic

Amazing how much work you put into creating the background, that requires a lot of patience haha. That took you what, a day or two?
Nerflover10097 Two days. It's my least favorite part lol.
What version of Adobe Photoshop do you use when experimenting with background, color, etc...?
Awesome! How long did this take real time & do you set yourself a rough time to complete a piece?? Thanks :)

too cool !
Which side of the paper are you using?
Yolanda Cui You know, I didn't pay attention lol. Probably the side with the most tooth.
How much time did take to do this drawing? 1 hour, two? Please tell me, because I'm very impatient. Thank you
About a week.
