Now this is a proper "sponsored" video. No gushing about the product, saying "it's the best bow ever". Points out the positives, highlights negatives (with easy mod fixes), and reminds people that it is a budget bow and it's very good at its price point.
Yes and honestly if I wanted to come off more authentic, I would gush about a product and criticize a minor aspect of it. The criticism gives you credibility and makes the positives more genuine
i mean for only 80$ it IS a pretty good deal. Material didn't seem to be cheap and now we know where they saved costs and it's easy to improve those parts on our own.
@GPUOverHeat Putting the beaver fur on the strings definitely slows down the string which reduces velocity which would reduce range and penetration, but I don't think the other mods would
I have to say I’ve never been disappointed with ANY video you’ve done. Very thorough as usual. Very to the point. And I can’t even begin to tell you how refreshing it is to see a self sufficient young woman.
I'm impressed with how simply you explained where the issues with sound were and how easily you fixed them. Taking a look at the bow near the end, I must say it looks so much more badass! More of an actual established tool and less of something just bought out of a store. I learned a good deal from this video and now subscribe to your channel. Thanks for the demonstration!
The cavity at the attachment point is similar to a Drum. You essentially create a region where the sound can vibrate. As for beaver, I guess it is to remove the vibrations a bit from the Sinew meanwhile the play was removed to lead to less wobble. Since that wobble can create a rattle effect. The Velcro(?) I do not know.
Nothing wrong with trashing a trashy product. She didn't trash it because she didn't think it was trashy, just that it needed some improvement. I'm all about honesty in reviews, and if that means telling me a product sucks, then so be it.
I've been wanting to get into bows. For $80, I have no excuse to not pick this up and get started. Thanks for showing us how to take a lot of the noise out too! I will definitely do that to mine! You're the best!
It's great to see a review that discusses the good and the bad, and then fixes the bad so that it actually ends up supporting the product and teaching something to the viewers. Perfection.
Those were two videos in one. The title is "silencing a recurve" so that's what we get. She says nothing about the bow, nothing technical at least. But we get to see the design and it seems to work so that's probably all the manufacturer was looking for. Her customizing it like that was very interesting tho. Still, the bow looks rinda ridiculous afterwards and the only advantage is that it's silent so deer your're not allowed/able to shoot wouldn't hear you release? HA! Still, she's a very good host and the whole video is far above usual youtube production standards (she just calmly explains stuff, calm beautiful woods, no annoying music or effects). I never sub to any channel but if I would it'll be this one ^^
Actually I have to agree with SICKDOAPNIXON, killing something that can't shoot back just to get a kick out of taking a life is sick. But killing something for food is something we've been doing since we were created. I really can't see us stopping at this point, especially if we want to survive the next collapse in society (they seem to occur at roughly 1,000 year intervals, we're probably overdue :-D )
@@AnthonyIlstonJones We weren't created, we evolved and we used to eat only plants at one point n our evolution. Eating meat helped us to evolve into the humans we are today though.

see, that is the type of commaraderie that I want with other militants and survivalist. I want the training this woman has, along with the training Starry Hilder has. BUT, I don't want to have a camp where I am the only one living. I want to find a TEAM of men that will build survival and go around helping others to LEARN how to survive. I have already showed many of the Survival Lily videos to others, by making them watch her videos. You would be surprised how many "experts" in local communities do not know the things that Lily does. They think they do, but they don't.

you are automatically cool. thank you for watching that movie. It is great. You understand , then!
After a spinal cord injury in 1985, I'm just getting back to archery, and found your bow setup video. Now I'm a huge fan! Good quality videos, and you're great; knowledgeable without being arrogant. Stay blessed.
experiment54 Yeah it’s only $80 other bows I’ve seen get really expensive. I’d get this my self and if I don’t get into the hobby as much I won’t be like nooooo $200 out of the window ya know
She seems to do it to nurture an injury. Asian styles of archery point their bows upwards because typically an archer would be on horseback, and it would be what archers call a "bad thing" if you stabbed your galloping horse in the back of the head.
@@kapoof2 that's quite insightful :) I'd have never been able to tell that kind of thing. The memory I was going off of was the current sport in Japanese archery where its more about oneness and proper form over aim, which guides arrows to their target.
@@chainer8686 What you are speaking of is kyudo, which is more ritualistic than practical, much like iaido for the katana. However, it got its roots in the practical usage of a bow while on horseback, which was the standard in the east, which is why eastern archery and western archery differ in their techniques. As long as the pointy end goes into the target, thats all that matters.
I love that when you explained that the limb pockets have a hollow that amplifies the sound "just like a guitar" - I thought you said "cadavre" … and I thought it still made sense!!!
Here's hoping the comments will get less sexist over time. She's an incredible person and should be respected for her skills, not gawked at. This is definitely an inspiring and refreshing channel.
I fail to see how Lynn's comment is sexist in the slightest. I think the intent was to comment on her age and the fact that the skill is being maintained. The fact that she's a woman is only an aside and in no way was he implying that women are less anything. It's no different than me calling someone "young man". It's more of an identifier than a descriptor. Egg shell skulls. Also, men and women are different, and shunning our differences does us a great disservice. We should be celebrating our differences, as both men and women are equally important. Men cannot live without women, nor women without men. Our existence is COMPLIMENTARY, and in no way is the acknowledgement of these facts "sexist". It IS sexist however, to assume that Lynn Lehr is a gawking old man, especially when considering the picture of high-heels in their avatar, and the name "Lynn".
Thank you, JathTech. Yes, I am an old woman and my dad got me my first recurve bow when I was 12. I loved it and practiced through college. I didn't realize that someone could get so angry over a comment only meant as supportive. I try to build up, not break down.
Items to silence bow: - 1x Cloth strip - 1x Cotton - Beaver pelt - Hex Key I can totally see this makeshift method of silencing the bow be used in a survival game.
I could picture it being a small side quest in a game like The Last Of Us or an Elder Scrolls game (like an archery trainer would have you scavenge these parts and then teach you how to silence the bow to take advantage of critical hits from stealth shots).
Make four - 2 inch lengths of paracord. Intertwine a paracord into the bow string (with sailor's needle or small awl/metal skewer) at each of the bow tips and 2 down toward the conventional string silencer nock position. The paracord will naturally fray open, creating the puffball silencer (and NOT STOP or SLOW DOWN ! any string speed). If you have a personal (not technical) issue with this, make the lengths 1 1/2 inch ... or down to 1 inch. The bow tip paracords will remove the string "snap"ping on the bow tips, sending harmonics back into and down the bow, ... and further stop any actual string harmonics that run along the string in both directions toward the bow tips and onto the bow. The regular points for silencing the string will stop the harmonics along the string. You should have a very quiet bow. The paracord puffball will last longer than animal leather and fur (or modern rubber octopus or fuzzy silencers). The 150-200 one to two pound test paracord fishing lines ... are as flexible as fur, more numerous, waterproof, bug proof, and mildew/mold proof. And they are far smaller than other silencer designs.
Nope. Just cut whole (intact) paracord sheath and inner core and put into bow string filaments and areas mentioned. Look at YT Revhiker vid (on the right side) (who I mentioned it to first, or another person, 1-2 years ago). Can actually use far smaller 3/4 inch or 1 inch sizes and more number of puffs along entire string, versus big puffs. Defiinitely DOES NOT SLOW DOWN the string speed. Immediately above/below nock (and outside of line of sight), then at the conventional harmonic positions of half-way, and at the string-snap bow tip ends. The nock puffs diminish the nock/arrow "snap" and harmonics from travelling further up the string upon release of the arrow. Same options can be put into cross bows, ... even compound bows. Compounds you want to install puffs at the resting positions near the pulleys, ... and at the drawn positions. These puff positions are never being drawn through the pulleys, but when they are next to the pulleys whether drawn or resting, keep down the snap-slap of string on pulley, ... and then the other conventional puff harmonics on the string. As most compound bows ARE NOT involved with string air speed (as they are vertical movements), multiple TINY puffs along the string seriously dampen any sound. Check it out, work with such EVEN 1/2 inch - 3/4 inch puffs (tiny little buggers) and do a speed calibration test. Trim down if needed even further (doubtful), or remove a few here and there, ... and you will have a dead-thud ... still deadly accurate bow that will amaze everybody. If you don't like a paracord puff, then go to WalMart or Dollar Store and they sell little poly colored puffs of all sizes for $1-3. You can experiment with all these cotton (poly) balls and which sizes fit instead. The puffs might provide greater wind surface coverage as the wind can't grab the poly puff, versus actual tiny-tiny paracord fishing lines. For me, these tiny-tiny fishing line filaments are so flexible, that there is actually no wind resistance, like a deer walking through a briar patch, and only getting its fur brushed, .... same as the wind actually free-flowing through these tiny fishing lines (far smaller 1-2# test, vs fly fishing 3-4# or 8# test and see how you can zing those 20-50+ feet through the air across a stream (!). So this is why I am partial to the paracord. All those 150-200 strands truly dampen out any vibrations and frequencies on the bow string, or any bow harmonics it might have.
Great tip dude!!! I have an old pse impala that ive just upgraded with some 60 lbs ragim limbs which made it really noisy, and the fur silencers werent lasting at all. Takes a while to set it up right but its definitely worth it (and cheap too). Thanks a lot!
In a similar fashion i used the "rubber legs", flat strips that are pulled apart to use in tying flies for fishing to make silencers for my recurve. They do have a limited life-span, since they are rubber, but i got a good 2 years plus out of a single set, and it cost me something like the equivalent of 2 dollar. The bow i used it on is a 35 lb Internature that i used on the range when i was still teaching newcomers to the sport. Yeah, a cheap dirty fix, but it worked like a charm.
Fantastic video! You actually were pretty fair and even handed in your review. You admitted there was sound coming from the bow and then you fixed it. I must admit that I learned quite a bit from this video that I didn't know about bows. Your sponsor must be happy having an honest person reviewing their products!! Keep up the good work!!
Clear, concise, and informative. Well done Lilly. Thanks for the tips on quieting the bow. I too like take down recurves because they are much easier to pack.
It’s called ‘genuine leather’ because it’s not actually genuine leather. The term “genuine” just means a certain type of leather, which is actually one of the lowest quality types of leather.
TL:DR How to silence a Recurve Bow 1.--edit-- slightly pull the string* to hear where the most sounds comes from 03:08 2. Take it apart and fill empty space with cotton. Make sure there no play between parts by making sure it fit tightly by placing material in between the parts. 04:0604:25 3. Silence string by placing fur on string 05:12 4. Glue soft strips of velcro where string hits the bow 06:28
Super informative for me. I thought bow noise came only from the string. A long time ago, I packed the tuning lugs on a drum set to reduce noise, but it did not occur to me that something similar would be going on in a takedown bow. Thanks. Great video.
Thank you for the info. I tried your bow mods and the sound of my shots dramatically changed. Still gotta get the hang of the shooting part but for now a quiet bow really allows me to take in all the sounds of my surroundings and enjoy the hobby. 10/10
cut your finger straps in middle, punch holes, sew overlap together. this will shorten them and fit better. i have small hands and had to do the same with a small glove. Love your vidios! mike.
André De Faria yeah 5m is nothing lmao she’s so close jt would be hard to miss a bullseye from there.. if she could shoot a deer at 40 yards perfectly that would be insanely impressive
@@kristopherhunts2380 Man, I just realized how different the shots you take with a traditional bow must be from the shots you take with a compound. I can shoot bullseye's at forty without thought but is that impressive to do with a traditional?
Thank you for the video I have learned so much/61yrs old male adult and am looking to purchase a bow for back yard target shooting and your video really helped/ I think I like a smaller bow like the one you use in this video/Thank you
A small note about the limb vibration. Sometimes in takedowns the bolt that connects to the riser is just a little too long. A person could use a grinder or a file to shorten the bolt by just a couple threads. It allows you tighten all the way and eliminate the play.
My /gunsmith/ restored my father's recurve and I did not realize how much of a difference silencers helped with the string. My bow is all wood, but the string is noticeably less snappy than before with them. While I don't care for multi piece bows - that company's arrows and quivers are superb... likely ordering a batch.
I would have never even thought to look into making a bow more quiet. I would have said the bow is too loud and got a different one. Good, educational video!
@but why i'm sure you'll love for your daughter to be rated like that someday. Everybody has likes/dislikes and preferences. Just 'cause they don't meet your "rating system" doesn't mean they're not beautiful. Learn to respect other people, man. People can't choose the way they look so be thankful for the fact that you have what you have. Just don't be ignorant about what others look like. This woman that you're talking about here, has got the skills that can literally save dumbasses like you from actually dying out there in the real world while you decide to sit behind a keyboard and rate her on how she looks. I could have said something derogatory about your mother, who btw, I'm sure is a nice beautiful lady, just to make you feel like how you make other ladies feel. But I'm sure it won't get through your dead brain cells.
@but why yes, beauty is something that is ranked but also it is subjective. I know that sometimes, and in some places, beauty pays way, of course, in modeling and other places, but that does not mean you call rest of the people ugly. Sure, you favour some people based on their looks, because you like how they appear, or they match certain standards and sure, you reject some because they don't meet those standards, but that doesn't mean mean that you start bullying them or telling that that they are ugly or mistreat them. That is what I was trying to tell you. Just because somebody doesn't meet your standards, it doesn't give you the right to call them ugly or be mean towards them.

OK, I know nothing about archery, but retired now and loving the free time, so I will indulge myself, buy a bow and enrol in some classes. The recurve bow looks ideal and Mandarin Duck have a sale. Thanks for the tips on refinements.
I love getting TH-cam recommendations for things I’m actually interested in. And this video was pretty great too. New subscription from just a couple minutes in lol. I’ll have to try that on my current bow
Yes, wrong. Well, nobody will be offended when you do archery like this in the woods, but at an archery club you're not allowed to pull the bow while pointing the arrow upwards (if the string is released by accident, who knows what the arrow will hit?)
That's how the range at my park closed down. Some jackass was drawing the bow like an idiot and shot it into the neighboring tennis court. This video makes me cringe so much.
+Anonymous User But humans are very much defined by their relationships with other humans. It's what makes them human. Are you saying women aren't human?
Aren't we all, to some degree, defined by the relationships we keep...or the ones we do not keep? Isn't one of the largest cornerstones to having a good life mostly defined by the types of relationships we have or the ones we choose to let go...and I'd even argue that having healthy relationships are more important to women than men. You wouldn't agree that our relationships helps define us and ostensibly who we are personally as well as who we are as a gender? I will concede that Ollie T. comment is without warrant and is baseless...so there's that.
Many people are unfortunately defined by their relationships. However, considering that Lilly seems to be focused on survival, it seems like she can probably get by without anyone else.
Thank you for the tips. I just bought the Mandarin Duck bow, quiver and arm guard you demonstrate. I also have a bad right shoulder which has had multiple surgeries. So I draw the bow like you do! thanks again. Love your videos!!!
well if you shoot a gun in vacuum, that's going to be loud as hell. Probably even more loud, than in normal atmospheric conditions, because there's nothing to stop the gas molecules created by the explosion. sure, you won't hear too much outside the vacuum chamber, because out there you already have the chamber wall and the atmosphere actually muffing the explosion
Lilly, I bought a 50 # bow like the one your using in this video, I silenced the limbs with leather at the screws and leather under the limb tips. along with beaver fur on the bow string. All of these things put the silence on the noise. I enjoy this bow emencly . I also bought A 30 # SHORT LONG BOW for warm ups. love both of them.
Lilly you really know a lot about bows! thank you for the cool info!!!! and...this bow looks like a bow for BATMAN with a quiver from ZELDA ... awesome ;) please make more videos like this XXX
Maybe it is just my imagination but it looks like there is no nock on the string! If you have a nock in the correct spot it will eliminate the inconsistent arrow flight going high and low. Good video otherwise.
@Anonymus User: If there were any methode that didn't require a nocking point on the string people would be using it to increase performance by reducing the mass of the string. Believe me shooting without a fixed point and with one is a difference like night and day, if it moves by only 1mm you already notice a huge difference. If you know of a methode that works without a nocking point let me know.
+ashbow archer You're talking about serious target archery, especially Olympic archery, when you're talking about millimeters making a large difference. I don't see that as necessary for a survival bow. Techniques are sufficient.
+Anonymous User If you know of a technique for sufficiently even nocking please let me know. Although i come from a target archery background (I shoot mostly Bowhunter tournaments shooting bowhunter recurve or traditional recurve bow) I was actually refering to a bowhunting scenerario, so no shots further than 25m. Even if the nocking point is not set idealy it is important that the point is as close to the same every time because the arrow will fly quite differently everytime when you don't nock in the same spot. By the way a nocking point marker could just be a piece of string tied onto the string.
I've even seen some folks mark the string with a sharpie (which I wouldn't recommend because of possible solvent damage issues) or crayon (which seems less destructive to a string).
Genuine leather doesn't just mean that the product is made of real leather (which it is), but it also means it is the lowest quality of all products made out of real leather. Leather quality will be stamped one of three things: genuine leather, top-grain leather, or full-grain leather.
I went to their site and they used the phrase "pure leather". Would that still be the lowest quality and they're just sneaking around from calling it genuine leather or is that a different quality? I think a lot of people don't know the differences and will just use the phrase "genuine leather" to describe anything made of leather.
That quiver is gorgeous, and is definitely not low-grade leather. The term "genuine leather" is mostly used for what is more accurately called "bonded leather". Basically they take all the little scraps of leather left over from other leather products, and glue them all together - kind of like the leather equivalent of MDF. But most people don't know that, and they think "genuine leather" means that it's high quality. And yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what happened in this video. I fell in love with quality leather a couple of years ago and I'm no expert, but I'm definitely a devotee and that quiver is stunning. It's hard to describe exactly why the leather looks high-grade, but bonded leather is used for cheap, mass produced crap. That quiver is a work of art - you don't use cheap, crappy imitation leather in craftsmanship like that.
Aaron565pwns Because it is because bonded leather tends to bubble and peel off of the cloth backing and in most cases the leather vs polyurethane (adhesive) ratio is all over the place and isn't controlled.. luckily you can normally tell what is bonded or real leather based on price alone.
Thank you so much for the well thought out "HOW TO"! I was in your country a year or two ago. I just bought a recurve recently. THANK YOU, ONE MORE TIME.
I look at TH-cam as a rabbit hole that could lead anywhere. I don't mind in the least. My inquisitiveness often takes me to unexpected places. I'm more often surprised then disappointed. This video is a case in point. It was excellent by the way. Lilly was methodical in evaluating the equipment, the noise sources, and applying simple remedies. She stayed on point and did not ramble.
O Gun what type of shooting do you plan on doing? If you are going hunting, I recommend a cheap compound that caps at least to your state's minimum legal draw weight, if not more. If you are doing something else, ILF recurve. No beginner should be pulling more than 30lbs, 20-25 is plenty. Also start with proper lessons; usarchery.org has a coach locator, look up level 2-4 coaches in your state. I do assume you live in the U.S. some details may be different in your country.
Cameron Stewart Samick recurves are decent, fairly inexpensive, well reviewed, and easy to change the draw weight (about as simple as the bow she reviewed in this vid - just buy a different set of limbs with the draw you want. Got my wife 30 lbs and myself 60 lb Samicks). Same things she did to silence her test bow will work on the Samick too.
Colonel Panic I agree, Samicks are great for beginners, stump shooting, even hunting. I was just mentioning that there are potentially better choices depending on which direction you plan to go yet. The Samick Sage, Easton Genesis and bows like them are often a "first bow" kind of bow. Personally, I don't really mind much; if you're shooting, that's a win.
Pavlos Pap I would say that 20-30 lbs is good for a beginner. 56" is okay, though 60" is usually better if your draw length is 28+inches. Also compounds, especially beginner compounds can have a wide draw weight range, where recurves are much more narrow. A compound can easily draw weight adjust from 30-50 lbs. A recurve that has 30 lb limbs can "tighten" to 31-32, or "loosen" to 28-29. So, unfortunately a 35 lb recurve is a different bow than a 30lb bow. Also, it sounds like you're a fellow American. If that's the case usarchery.org has a coach locator, look for a level 2-4 coach in your state and reach out to him/her if you have any further questions; most will list contact info. Thanks, hope that helped.
the silencing parts are a good inspiration if you ever make a video game and want to upgrade your bow with a "silencer" module. I especially like those furballs on the string, looks really cool
When she says "determine" at 3:08 and it sounded like "dead or mine", I was so confused. After a moment's thinking, I figured it out- adorable pronunciation.
The Mandarin Duck bow looks bada**, along with the accessories. Complete jaw dropping to me. Thank you for the video. I'll be following you quite often now, since I want to get back into archery. Keep up the good work.
I think you'll find drawing from above your head will spook more animals than the sound. Try drawing from a pointed down position, keeping the arrow and draw arm in line with your body. Dont shoot your foot. I like to draw as i cross a tree so the animal doesnt see it.
Literally in my recomemded for no reason but now im buying this bow, and doing the adjustments to it. Ps-Lilly is a BEAUTIFUL woman, wow. Ahem, shot thru the heart, and youre to blame baby~
This is some Assassin’s Creed level shit right here. Beautiful shooting, beautiful bow, beautiful lady, beautifully informative- I can’t think of a reason not to like this video.
If you don't have a inlet for a silencer, I think this is a great way to go. Interesting ideas for dampening the string. I knew about beaver puffs, but never considered tucking in cotton if you have a space in your limbs. It makes sense though...sound needs waves to travel and if you have air...you will have waves for sound. I would probably cut the fabric nice and glue it on to make it more professional and clean, but for the purpose of the video I get it. Really good tips. Like the look of the bow and quiver as well. but at 6'5" it's probably too small for my long arm span.
I love the way you say the word determine at least that's pretty sure that's what you said when you said you need to determine where the noise is coming from

I never sub to any channel but if I would it'll be this one ^^
killing animals for sport = demonic
das'all'm'sayin'igga

That was really smart of her. Those are essentially acoustic wave cavities and the sound is resonating inside, like she said.
Tremendous difference in sound after your mods. Really good job and a very balanced review of the product, "warts and all"!
And the stuff used aren't that expensive either :D
After a spinal cord injury in 1985, I'm just getting back to archery, and found your bow setup video. Now I'm a huge fan! Good quality videos, and you're great; knowledgeable without being arrogant. Stay blessed.
That is a beautiful bow and quiver. I'm jealous.

Vex'ahlia in a nutshell
That's really impressive how much noise you can take out by filling the void in the limb attachments. Also, your arms are mighty!!! Mad respect
The way she draws her bow from over her head reminds me of the Japanese style of archery
I know a guy who does the same. It's just style.
She has a shoulder injury.
I bought one because of this video, and i absolutely love it! I'm also doing some of the silencing modifications that you've done one mine as well.
cool! have fun
I love that when you explained that the limb pockets have a hollow that amplifies the sound "just like a guitar" - I thought you said "cadavre" … and I thought it still made sense!!!
It's been a long time since I shot a bow (I'm old), but to see a young woman interested and expert at recurve is quite refreshing.
@anonymous user what the fuck dude? where the hell is the sexist part?
Lol what are you saying ? people cannot ogle Lilly in the videos and learn at the same time ?
Gawking old men have rights too you know.

I'm guessing you mean just 2" lengths of the sheathe with the core removed?
Heh, you learn a new use for paracord everyday, nice one.
John Lord ... sounds interesting... link to a video showing this technique?
Interesting and well done. I know nothing of bows so I found your modifications most informative.

TL:DR How to silence a Recurve Bow
1.--edit-- slightly pull the string* to hear where the most sounds comes from 03:08
2. Take it apart and fill empty space with cotton. Make sure there no play between parts by making sure it fit tightly by placing material in between the parts. 04:06 04:25
3. Silence string by placing fur on string 05:12

Loved your video! Very helpful tips.
A small note about the limb vibration. Sometimes in takedowns the bolt that connects to the riser is just a little too long. A person could use a grinder or a file to shorten the bolt by just a couple threads. It allows you tighten all the way and eliminate the play.
I have to know, How many pound pull is that bow?
You can choose from 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 or 50
It depend on the limbs.
My /gunsmith/ restored my father's recurve and I did not realize how much of a difference silencers helped with the string. My bow is all wood, but the string is noticeably less snappy than before with them.

Everybody has likes/dislikes and preferences. Just 'cause they don't meet your "rating system" doesn't mean they're not beautiful. Learn to respect other people, man.
Just because somebody doesn't meet your standards, it doesn't give you the right to call them ugly or be mean towards them.

one of the reasons why i love archery is because its just so graceful, like her discipline with the bow for instance was beautiful :D
But wrong.
Paula J. Bean Wrong? Yet it works very well. She draws effortlessly and nails the target...and that hits the important points 100%.

+Ollie T. No, women are not defined by their relationships.

I'm not sure that you understand the contextual definition of a 'take down' bow

Before this video I had no idea you can silence a bow xD I thought that only applies to gun
impossible silence a bow or a gun only suppress
willam1992 not truly impossible. Just extremely impractical and also probably very expensive
The only way to completely silence something is to fire it in a vacuum.
well if you shoot a gun in vacuum, that's going to be loud as hell. Probably even more loud, than in normal atmospheric conditions, because there's nothing to stop the gas molecules created by the explosion. sure, you won't hear too much outside the vacuum chamber, because out there you already have the chamber wall and the atmosphere actually muffing the explosion
+MrDoboz By in a vacuum I meant more like the vacuum of space not a vacuum chamber.
Lilly, I bought a 50 # bow like the one your using in this video, I silenced the limbs with leather at the screws and leather under the limb tips. along with beaver fur on the bow string. All of these things put the silence on the noise.

That is the most beautiful quiver I have ever seen throughout my entire life. Wow.
Maybe it is just my imagination but it looks like there is no nock on the string! If you have a nock in the correct spot it will eliminate the inconsistent arrow flight going high and low. Good video otherwise.
That's one way to do it, but there are other methods that involve simply technique, which she has already developed.
That quiver is a work of art - you don't use cheap, crappy imitation leather in craftsmanship like that.
bonded leather is usually considered the worst quality.
I usually take most of my bow shots at point blank range too. If you step forward once, you can melee with the bow.
😂

I look at TH-cam as a rabbit hole that could lead anywhere. I don't mind in the least. My inquisitiveness often takes me to unexpected places. I'm more often surprised then disappointed. This video is a case in point. It was excellent by the way. Lilly was methodical in evaluating the equipment, the noise sources, and applying simple remedies. She stayed on point and did not ramble.
That bow is so beautiful 😍
What recurve bow would you recommend for a beginner?
Cameron Stewart is a 30-50lbs with 56 inches lenght good for a beginner; cause i am about to order one.
I love her TH-cam channels. I learn so much from her outdoors lesson with archery and other things.
You are gorgeous (and very skilled)!

After a moment's thinking, I figured it out- adorable pronunciation.
i listen "Data mine" sagsuygasuysa
The Mandarin Duck bow looks bada**, along with the accessories. Complete jaw dropping to me. Thank you for the video. I'll be following you quite often now, since I want to get back into archery. Keep up the good work.
I think you'll find drawing from above your head will spook more animals than the sound.
Try drawing from a pointed down position, keeping the arrow and draw arm in line with your body. Dont shoot your foot.
I like to draw as i cross a tree so the animal doesnt see it.

Wow The packing worked much better than I expected. Well done.
This is some Assassin’s Creed level shit right here.
Beautiful shooting, beautiful bow, beautiful lady, beautifully informative- I can’t think of a reason not to like this video.
I really like your videos. Thank you for your efforts. I liked this bow too. I'll need to check out what else is out there and then start practicing.
Jeff Conti what length arrows should i use for this bow
If you don't have a inlet for a silencer, I think this is a great way to go. Interesting ideas for dampening the string. I knew about beaver puffs, but never considered tucking in cotton if you have a space in your limbs. It makes sense though...sound needs waves to travel and if you have air...you will have waves for sound. I would probably cut the fabric nice and glue it on to make it more professional and clean, but for the purpose of the video I get it. Really good tips. Like the look of the bow and quiver as well. but at 6'5" it's probably too small for my long arm span.
I just love your accent.

I love the way you say the word determine at least that's pretty sure that's what you said when you said you need to determine where the noise is coming from
