  • Fast and reliable tissue bonding is critical in surgical procedures. Common solutions are sutures,
clips, or adhesives, yet each has disadvantages in open and robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery.
Laser tissue soldering is a promising alternative, but challenges arise in its strength. We propose a
novel solution: robot-assisted laser tissue soldering, and demonstrate its feasibility by closing
incisions in ex-vivo porcine bowels. To measure closure effectiveness, we recorded an average burstpressure
of 95 [mmHg], which is 73% of sutured tissue. Robot-assisted laser soldering will make laser
tissue soldering stronger, reproducible, and allow for contactless surgical tissue bonding.
