    This is excellent material. Surgery from the Inside is a topic of very personal interest to me, as at 53 years old, I have been suffering from Chronic Pain due to Inoperable Spinal Damage (Spondylolisthesis, L-4) for 31 years. With the demonization of Opiate-based pain medication in America, proper pain management since 2016 has become impossible. Though micro-robotic surgery does me no good at present, I hope in the future cases like mine can be repaired. I wish that my pain did not damage my focus and concentration. I think a 'remake' of 'Fantastic Voyage' using Nano-Sized Robots that a crew could control via a VR/Brain Interface, would be much more plausible and have serious potential as a legitimate update to this extremely imaginative film.

    Dr. Golby is a rare person with the exceptional and equally as rare talent to execute that which she has learned and knows. Trust aside as a patient, admiration from anyone with interest on any level makes this a must watch. In other words, wow.

    There were 2 questions answered by text so we have reposted these here: How do you overlap the deformation colour maps onto the region of interest in vision-based haptics? Thanks for your question. We use a publicly available software tool, details are in our paper (in press at ICRA, but the ArXiv version is here: arxiv.org/abs/2011.02112) For Allison - on the topic of inferring force from vision - to help build better heuristics for training - what are your thoughts about having surgical trainees work on simple models to build this thought process? Thanks. This has been difficult and to some degree our major challenge. Of course validation can have different meanings - cost, safety, efficiency? What I think we need is to agree on what is “value” and then to develop better indicators - I think biomarkers of surgical morbidity would be an important aspect.
