I was in a bad financial place years ago and had never owned a handgun of any type. My friend sold me his c9 with 500 rounds of ammo for $300 and let me pay him out over several months. I learned how to manipulate the gun and learned how to shoot a pistol. It was fun and we had a great time. People laughed at me because of how ugly and heavy it was but I liked it. I had one guy the range actually say "I'd rather take my chances with a sharp stick than buy one of those, even if it was free". Yeah, classism is strong in the gun community but we are all supposed to stand together and help each other..lol not according to some people I guess.

You should have responded to the gun snob "Polly wanna cracker" because that is the pat remark they always say when commenting on a lower priced gun. I wonder if they would like to take a hit from your c9 or a sharp stick? Like the hi point 9mm has much less knock down power that a Glock 9mm using the same ammo.

@@fmgpubs Thanks for getting back ! It amazes me what Hi-Point does with all of their firearms. They function well and are available to " po' folk " so they can afford to exercise their 2nd amendment rights, too. I'm retired now, but that was the reason I had for becoming an FFL dealer. I wanted to put a gun in the hand of every single law abiding citizen that I could. Hi-Point helped in that regard and I sold SCORES of their C-9s especially. I'm glad they make a working gun so even a person with a limited income can afford to protect his family.

I had one, and actually carried it for awhile. I sold it because a friend wanted it, to keep in his tractor trailer, while doing his daily runs from the top of lower michigan to the bottom of lower michigan. I had a Taurus G2, one of the ones built after the first batch were recalled. So I carried that for the longest time, several years. Then my niece wanted to buy that, and so I bought a Ruger SR9c, which I am carrying now. I know, all low priced guns, but they all have been workhorses, shooting when ever I needed them to, and never a botch, ftf, fte, or any other problem with any one of them. Gun builders are doing some amazing work now, for a very reasonable price. The deserve a very good thank you, and props for a job well done.

I loved the video, and it's about time someone gave Hi-Point their due. They're good guns, the only other gun you will find with that kind of warranty is SCCY. I heard that Hi-Point was fiddling with the idea of a 22 LR. Now that would be fun to shoot. Although I have other guns, I am seriously thinking of giving the Hi-Point C-9 a try.

My shitty Hi-Point will hold it's own againt any .45 by any other manufacturer.
      It's not a beauty contest, it's a function event.
If your shitty Hi-Point doesn't function it's your own fault.
And if MoM (Hi-Point) doesn't know that your shitty Hi-Point doesn't function, how can MoM possibly help make it right with the best warranty in business?
And if you fail to address the issue with MoM about getting your shitty Hi-Point to function then....
Stop crying about your own shortcomings and bias in a side comment forum and blaming it on a defensive tool because you really have no basis for your opinion.

The thing I'm seeing about Hi-Point, is that quality is not left out of the equation when they come up with a gun. It's not necessarily the same quality as something more expensive, but you'll get a decent gun that will do what you need done in extremis, and it'll not complain that you didn't feed it the right ammo, so that's why it failed. Thank you for the honest review of what is obviously a price-point pistol. this review got me thinking maybe I'm not necessarily thinking rightly in my desires.

The primary reason folks bash hi points is to justify to themselves why they spent 2-4 times as much for whatever they bought...the 'ugly gun' criticism is the most egregious, the bullets don't give a damn what they are shot out of...I watched a different video where this model was shot in the chamber, the slide looked like hell, and the gun still worked...the wise guys should try to match that with their $1,000 nines...

Not gonna lie, its a big, heavy gun that feels good in big hands. My daughter shot my C9 and my brothers Ruger LC-9 and she liked the C9 better because it felt easier to control, even if it was a little big for her frame. I love my C9. It doesn't like steel cased ammo very much, but running brass it seems to be fine. Had some issues with it when it was new, but those seem to have worked out over time. I take it with me whenever I go out of state because you're right, better to have it in case its needed than not.

I just paid $129 for mine. I did not have anything in 9 mil. My carbine is a 4595 Hi Point. It goes bang every time I pull the trigger. I like the analogy of a $5 socket set vs. $500 Snap On!! I was at the range last week. I paid $34 for a box of 50 .357 magnums. I noticed 9 mil was $26 for 50. I will most likely be shooting my C 9 a lot! As well as my Walther P22Q!

I own lots of pistols, from H&k to Springfield to S&W, Glock, Taurus and Hi-Point. I like Hi-Point for the fixed barrel, that's what makes it accurate. I can take them outside and not have to worry about getting them dirty, then forgetting to clean them right away.

I bought my Hipoint C9 at the pawn shop for 100$ even. Magazine release button was messed up, sometimes it would drop the mag, sometimes not. So 3 days later I found myself on the phone to the maker. I explained the issue, mentioned that I wanted a new Mag and a mag loader. They got the serial # from the gun from me. Refused to take my credit card info.
3 days later a package arrived with the new mag release button. 2 sheets of instructions with clear pictures. And a new magazine and a mag loader. Zero cost to me. 10 min later the mag button was installed and my C9 was working flawlessly.
I noticed the old magazine feed lips looked "deformed" at different angles than the new one. I suspect it was dropped with a full stack of ammo in it, hit a hard surface with the feed lips. Bending them down and inward.
10 minutes work with a Needle Nose pliers soon had the old mag looking and acting like the new one.
Went to the range, everything worked flawlessly. No failures of any kind. Ran just as well with my cast boolits as it did with factory loads. I noticed that it seemed more accurate than most semi auto pistols I have fired including 1911 in .45acp.
I think it is because the barrel is pinned in the C9. There is no movement there.
And if you think the C9 is good, the Carbine in .45acp is even better.

As your eyes get older they can't go from near to far focus quickly anymore. So you can see a clear front sight or a clear target but not "both". I think that little stick on lens allows one of his eyes to be focused to each distance so he can still shoot iron pistol sights for accuracy.

There are elements of the HI Point that remind me of a Spesco P-51 .25 acp pistol. Funny thing is that the disassembly on the P-51 Saturday Night Special seems easier because the HI Point needs a punch for disassembly and cleaning.
