I wonder if a focus on more investment in Canada's second or third-tier cities might be part of the solution moving forward. Maybe more citizens and immigrants moving out of the few biggest cities could provide some more affordable options in housing (if good jobs, investments, infrastructure, and services were readily available). It doesn't sound like there are any short-term fixes for the cost-of-living crisis in places like Vancouver, so it makes sense to encourage people to find opportunities elsewhere.
