I don't like "skate-board s'up talk" very much but this one is bearable. Anyway, I'm a really old fuddy duddy so what can you expect? I do love the sound of the roots popping in a silent video! Nice touch!!! All in all a really good video. I'll be subscribing for sure! Thanks for the heads up ............. dude.
Thanks BackseatHump! I greatly appreciate your complements! Thanks so much for subscribing too! I'll be in the swamp in my next videos, you'll definitely want catch that! It will have more than just bonsai hunting, i hope you can bare it! ;)
That should be a interesting tree in a few years, You are going to need a big pot for that one. Ive been experimenting making pots out of cement lately for some of my larger trees.
@@bonsaihunters It appears to be an Irish Yew (Taxus baccata 'fastigiata') from its columnar shape. They are harder to maintain than the English Yew variant and need regular wiring or guy wiring over the years to stop the branches from rising. Good luck with the training.
It's actually not truly a yew. People sometimes call it a Japanese yew. It's actual name is Podocarpus macrophyllus. I'd like to see how it turned out. I have a couple of these I just collected from a friend's garden.
Its not a Japanese yew, I grew up in Louisiana and its the most common kind there, so I'm very familiar with Japanese yew and with its size leaf. I had it in my yard there, but this one has a smaller leaf and looks most like the English yew from my repetitive research online. I also dont care if I'm wrong either at this point, maybe I am, I just can't wait to remove it from my back yard this winter and finally getting it in a pot. It needs it a new spot.
Nice tree - good luck with it. Nice cat too.
Hey thanks! Sunny passed on, he was old in video. He was an awesome cat. The tree is still in the ground, I should have it in a pot by next winter.
@@bonsaihunters Oh how sad. I am sorry for your loss. He looks just like our cat. I'm sure he had a great life with you.
Thats a nice story about your dad, hope to teach my kids all about bonsai in years to come. Keep up the good videos.

Did the yew live?
Yes! Its still in the ground, but I plan on putting it in a pot this winter. I plan on getting another big redwood too.
I’m glad it survived and is doing well! Would be really interesting to get an update on how much its grown since you collected it.
@@mikaelnyberg8669 yep ok well that makes more than one request, so I have a video to do. Thanks!
