    That should be a interesting tree in a few years, You are going to need a big pot for that one. Ive been experimenting making pots out of cement lately for some of my larger trees.

      @@bonsaihunters It appears to be an Irish Yew (Taxus baccata 'fastigiata') from its columnar shape. They are harder to maintain than the English Yew variant and need regular wiring or guy wiring over the years to stop the branches from rising. Good luck with the training.

  • @TommyStGeorge

    It's actually not truly a yew. People sometimes call it a Japanese yew. It's actual name is Podocarpus macrophyllus. I'd like to see how it turned out. I have a couple of these I just collected from a friend's garden.

    • @bonsaihunters
      @bonsaihunters  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its not a Japanese yew, I grew up in Louisiana and its the most common kind there, so I'm very familiar with Japanese yew and with its size leaf. I had it in my yard there, but this one has a smaller leaf and looks most like the English yew from my repetitive research online. I also dont care if I'm wrong either at this point, maybe I am, I just can't wait to remove it from my back yard this winter and finally getting it in a pot. It needs it a new spot.
