Hi Dennis. Yes, they are beautiful. I ordered them for January in gold color. Good luck.

Enjoy the watch! Sounds like a shorter wait than I used to hear about too so should be fun for the New Year.

I agree, I much prefer the new dial, it is a counterpoint to the rather industrial chiming mechanism. I don't want to own one however, I've always turned off the hourly chime on Casios, and I don't want to sacrifice a decent sized time indicating dial and a seconds hand for a complication I have no use for.

Aside from the dial look (as I mentioned in the video, I just don't have the interest in seeing the chime unit on the dial itself) I just cannot get into the complication. It isn't complicated enough to impress me. If not doing a full on minute repeater I'd want something that at least chimed the number of times the hour it has reached is, like I associate with clock towers. Conceptually, I think we can all understand just how simple a mechanism is to configure to just do one thing at the time of every hour... a faster date wheel basically. Anyway, the gimmick just isn't interesting enough for me to open my wallet. And this isn't the first watch series to offer this complication anyway so I made that decision years ago.

Hi Dennis. I pretty much agree..Credos to CW for producing this kind of complication that is usually the domain of extremely exclusive brands which, of course, are multiple thousand of pounds more expensive than the Bel Canto itself. This new addition looks attractive enough for what it is. Call me boring if you like, but regardless of price, while everything I wear on a daily basis is defined as a dress watch, I much prefer something that is not an overbearing size, and more conservative in looks .

I reckon those with large wrists may enjoy it. Wearable but I have gotten more stubborn over the years on watches that present as dress pieces but are thick.

We all knew Dennis was a CW stan My preference is this new classic model over the original. My initial thoughts are the yellow dial on strap looks the best. I was okay with the original's size. I say these are more dress watches especially on a strap. I like the chiming complication and I, unlike you, do like seeing it. Still not sure if I'd be a buyer of this new model.

CW just provides me nice photos to use, I am innocent!

I was pretty meh on it until I saw that silver dial with the blued hands. That's nice. Its not for me, I wish it were a bit smaller and had more dial real estate and I say that having the Breguet Tradition in my top 3 watches of all time. It would appear to me at least that there's a solid 3-4mm of available space to make the actual dial a bit larger. I also loathe the SW-200, so that's pretty much an instant pass for me. The price is fair but its not a complication I want or need personally and certainly not one that I could justify $4k+ on when considering more traditional watches in this price range that appeal to me much more, especially used watches.

I've been curious to see if others use this complication. The MeisterSinger Bell Hora was out first, but a single-handed watch I am not surprised it doesn't do well (and it's priced about the same so it isn't offering a compelling reason to be chosen over the Bel Canto). I love minute repeaters but this is too gimmicky to be for me even if I liked the sizing.

Too busy. Before the focus was on the mechanism, and the dials were designed to make this pop out three-dimensionally. The sunray dial eminated from the small "sun" dial shining down onto the songbird. Now we've got a dial that deserves to be the focus on another watch and a watch face fighting for attention too. You don't know where to look. The blue works best, the green garish, gold most elegant and silver... just why.
They could have done things to the watch that retained its character, this completely changes it and elevates it to ostentatious dress watch... that is too thick to be a dress watch.
It reminds me of a carriage clock. Nice to look at in isolation, but where the hell would you put it in a modern house.
I'd need a whole new Georgian wardrobe to go with it!

Interesting... this is where I wish I was able to see it in the metal ahead of time as you raise an interesting point. In my experience, whether guilloché ends up overpowering or not depends a lot on the coating. For example, with Breguet I find the guilloché stands out in photos but the black markers on their white dials keeps it very legible. But I checked out one of those Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 watches once with a guilloché dial (I forget what color it was... green or blue) but while it seemed legible in photos in person, in their store lights, it was so reflective (ironic since the point of guilloché is to cut down on glare!) that I struggled to read the time. So, while I am confident reading the time itself isn't an issue here (given how separated the subdial is from the guilloché) the base dial could be quite distracting, especially in the light.
I would say though if you don't want a full Georgian wardrobe you might get away with a tailcoat and a top hat. Most folks won't look too closely beyond that!
