It’s because this melody lasts for 30 seconds in Passacaglia by Johann Halvorsen. In the beginning of the 6 minute piece it doesn’t sound like this, the melody comes in later. Since it’s not heard right of the bat, people don’t associate this melody with passacaglia
passacaglia is not the name of this piece. passacaglia is merely the name of a dance, just like, allemande, sarabande, menuet, bourree, gigue, courante, hornpipe etc. Handels passacaglia is part of a whole suite.
Alexandra Engen right. But a dance too! Usually near the Ciaccona. A danse at 3 times, practiced in the court of the XVIIth century in France. But the passacaglia is not often a part of the suite as the allemande, courante, sarabande, menuet, gigue etc.
There are many songs based on this chord progression. A few examples: Frank Sinatra - fly me to the moon Gary moore - still got the blues Vivaldi - winter Atumn leaves Michael Fugain - une belle histoire Etc.
Shadow the melody is quite easy the only tricky part is the left hand because there are tricky jumps but they stay the same so it’s not too hard with some practice
At first I thought that too but looking closer... His finger movements... Right hand 1st finger barely misses his 5th replacing it... Such accuracy! Wow
I would be very cautious in considering this Handel piece easy, hitting the right notes or having a melody repeat itself will help but you must get so many things right in piano playing, interpretation, fluidity, soft touch, correct fingering, right notes, the piano, mezzo forte the forte, the pedal, the tempo, memorization, the heart you put into the piece that the listener will hear The list goes on Nothing is easy in beautiful piano playing
Hi, about two days ago, I heard this version of you. I searched the pieces of this song in the internet. Now, two days later I can play it without the notes. Its soo beautiful! Thank you for playing it! 💕

There is something about this piano music Stanislav that has my attention, thankyou and thankyou (again) for your very impressive piano work on TH-cam.
Почему такая простая музыка так красива и гениальна?! Ведь в этом произведении просто каждая гармония является доминантой к следующей, и всë, больше никаких других украшений... Правда говорят, что гениальность в простоте...
Stanislav, thank you! Amazingly beautiful, and only you could select and play such a sensitive masterpiece! May I ask you to send me the sheet music. Thank you! cmelkon86@sbcglobal.net
Fantastic rendition, beautifully done! And also a very clever fingering for the left hand which I hadn't thought about and going to experiment now :) !
SO LOVELY!!! Lately this piece by Handel/Halvorsen it's my new musical revelation and one of my favourites, already several times I've heard it in different renditions, your performance is one of the best, in my opinion, congratulations for many views and many "thumbs up" of this recording, as every day good luck and warmth from Poland.
Thank you for posting this. I’ve done till grade 4 abrsm and took a break from piano for a couple years. NowI love this piece and I’m trying this, will update once I finish learning.
This is my forever favorite piece, a long of other people play this piece. But yours is once of the best I’ve heard. This piece brings me to tears. Thank you for your gift❤️
Thought this piece might be beyond my skill level, but I do believe I hear some familiar excerpts from my good old Hanon exercises in the right hand, so I will sit down and work at it.
Just started learning this - it’s actually ”easier” then you might think. Yes it’s very fast but also very repetitive. The left hand uses the same six/seven sets of notes over and over. I encourage everyone to try and learn it!
My dear friend Stanislav Stanchev, congratulations on getting more than 2,000,000 views. A well-deserved achievement, as you are a wonderful, incredible, fantastic pianist. I'm super happy you reach this number of views and I'm absolutely sure that this number doesn't stop there, it will increase day by day. You are a genius my friend, you are amazing. Congratulations.
Hi. After watching you play this, I looked for the sheet music. That left hand was so difficult to play...especially when combined with the right. But after a week of practice, I got so much better...but not playing at your speed here of course. Thank you for inspiring me!
The trick is to figure out the chords for the left hand. I think it is A minor, D minor, G major, C major, F major , D minor, E major, back to A minor… something like that. Once you figure that part out, the left hand is the same pattern over and over again.
@Edna Turner sorry to hear that! But fortunately there are many many pieces without the need to stretch.. so you can always play something beautiful :) Best wishes from Bulgaria!
@Edna Turner Thank you very much for the kind words Edna! And Chopin and Bach is the best. Specially Bach.. i love him very much :) Lots of health for you too and all the best :))
SO WONDERFUL!!!!! Already over 1.001.000 views of this great video, really you deserve it , CONGRATULATIONS, as always my best wishes from Poland, have a nice weekend.
Can you feel it, too, like I do? I feel it running in my veins. "Maybe cry a little," says the mind. "Dance to it, swirl on your tiptoes, finally in love and at peace with yourself," says the heart. "Breathe, let it reach you," says the soul. À la fin, ce n'est que la vie :)
This is a wonderful piece of music by Handel Halvorsen it was composed in 1894 by Johan Halvorsen. You, sir, are a wonderful pianist! I would love to see you play Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven

One to learn 🎶
sheet music is like sub titles for the music.
For me it’s like subtitles in a different language tho
Seriously though. Reading along to the sheet music is exactly like subtitles lmao
This is easier than I thought
My brother plays this
He’s 6 whole years above my level and that’s super easy.
I've questioned since I was 11 what this song was called and everyone plus my piano tutor told me this piece had no name, but now I finally found it
I am glad you found it :))

Gretchen Thunberg actually passacaglia is a type of compositional form. It is a piece that consists of a repeated bass line.
Alexandra Engen right. But a dance too! Usually near the Ciaccona. A danse at 3 times, practiced in the court of the XVIIth century in France.

Michael Fugain - une belle histoire
Etc.
Circle of fifths, my favorite chord progression
yea bc its a fairly standard and common chord progression at least in western music
Priscilla chan night flight too
Also "leaving yesterday behind" piolo pascual

Thank you for your sheet music! I'm really enjoying practising this piece! I'm 78 and just love playing the piano.
Glad you enjoy it and great to hear that you play the piano! One of the best things in life in my opinion :))
I'm looking forward to playing some more of your chosen pieces. 'Fly me to the Moon' was my signature song back in the '60s!
60 here, can't believe I'm only just learning this! Been playing since I was 6! He plays it beautifully
Мне тоже !
You move so smoothly. That silky movement of your fingers screams intense and long training. I hope I'll be able to play like that one day.
Thank you so much! :)) And keep practicing and you will! :)
Your hand is literally perfect for playing piano, and this cover is the best one i ‘ve heard so far
Thank you very much! :))
Smooth and soothing.I feel sad and happy to be alive at the same time.It just tugs your heart.
Fun to play with someone who is not practiced, the melody is really easy! Good job!
Thank you Bart! :))

your hands look like they can reach 13ths easily
12th easy.. 13th not at all :)
And I'm just here barely doing a ninth
just practice lol
Es lo mismo que pensé... Que manisima
Andrew Vu lmao honestly. I can barely reach a 9th. And its hard enough to keep my hand at a steady 8th as it is haha
Just started learning this - it’s actually ”easier” then you might think. Yes it’s very fast but also very repetitive. The left hand uses the same six/seven sets of notes over and over. I encourage everyone to try and learn it!
I would put this piece in my top ten
