    Thanks for posting this video! I asked my son to borrow one from his in laws and this is the machine they brought amongst a pressure washer so I looked at all the hoses and probably had that dumbfounded look until I figured out what hoses went to what machine.Thank you!

    Thank you so much! I had forgotten how to use my machine because it's been in the attic for 20 years. I just got it down and heading to my mother-in-laws to help clean their carpet. I appreciate your how to video, it was perfect.

    Thank you sir. I'm really relieved to hear that shop-vac brand filters will fit, since the original filter is gone.

    Thank you for putting this video up. back in the 80's I got one of these but it ended up in storage, never used. So recently I found the box and got it out to put it together but didn't find any instructions on assembly. I was hoping to find out how to put everything together correctly so I wouldn't damage it by hooking it up wrong. I wish I could give you more thumbs up for posting this, lol.

    I'm really loving this machine and I'm glad for your honest review- it really is hard to get info about this baby since it is older, but I LOVE that it is a big giant shop vac, essentially (especially since my vaccum just broke- I'm pretty sure this will work as both a cleaner and a vac, and it looks great especially since I wouldn't have to worry if I don't vaccum enough prior to cleaning like with most the units I've seen, because this machine seems like it won't mind if some fur goes in with the mucky water!
    Very glad to have found this video- I'm trying to find a cheap but sturdy carpet cleaner on craigslist and saw someone was selling one of these for cheap, but the bissell site had no info (since it is obsolete...which is to say, "older" since this certainly seems quite relevant still, haha...you don't need super new technology to suck water out of floors, I just want it to work!).
    I recently borrowed a friend's simple, basic, cheaper level carpet cleaner, i think also by Bissell, and it is an upright, and I think it likely has similar "sucking" power, but the way it is made makes it hard to get a tight seal and get much liquid out of the carpets- I thought I wanted an upright, but watching this, I'm not even gonna lie, I was sitting here totally geeking out over the amount it is able to clearly pull from the carpets, and I haven't seen a machine that hooks directly to the sink and soap- at first I was tempted to think it was stupid, but it makes the most sense, and for a REALLY dirty carpet, like the one in a room of the place I rent (former tenant ruined with with dog pee- the owners are great and intended to replace it, but I just really really needed a place, and cheap so I told them not to bother)- they rented one of those rug doctors, and it really just made it worse since it doesn't seem to suck the crap out of the rugs much, as most cleaners seem to just put soap in with the crap, haha- doesn't work! I gave up on that room months ago (I put a tarp and an area rug over it, haha-it works!) but I might even try and see if this might fix it, especially if I at least get a fresh carpet pad- no loss, either way!)
    Anyways, thanks so much for your demonstration and review of this machine, it looks AMAZING and frankly its obnoxious that they don't make this anymore- it's simple, which is really perfect, and seems easy to trouble shoot any issues, too...I hope to buy this and have it last for awhile!!!
    I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY STOPPED MAKING THIS!!!

    Yes, you can use this bissell as a standard shop vac. They use to sell a complete accessory attachment kit for this machine, now obselete. Any standard shop vac brand filters will work, and any standard 1" 1/4 hose and attachment set is compatible. can be used with wet and dry pickups, basiclly its a good 8 gallon shop vac all by itself. Hope this helps thanks!

    Thank you!!!!!!!!! I've just pulled mine out of the closet -- 1st time to try to use it (handyman hubby died unexpectedly). I want to use the upholstery head, but it looks like there is something missing - I don't see a way to spray the liquid (there is nothing like the carpet head's sprayer) -- is there supposed to be something? I also can't find a faucet adapter, but do you think I could find one?

    • @luvsthose8230s

      You can find the sink adapters at Home Depot

      Sink adapter for mine was male/male 15/16 -27M x 55/64 -27M found at Menards or Home Depot. 15/16 was my sink size, 55/64 is the hose side.

    Do you think one of these machines could be used as a standard shop-vac? (with the addition of a better filter of course). I have one (although it's currently completely disassembled) and upon close examination, it appears to be no different internally that any other shop-vac.

    Great video ,going to use mine today. Thats true, you dont know how dirty your carpets are till you look at that water sludge when your done. Then you remember all those times you dropped a french frie and picked it up and ate it because the carpet wasn't that bad , was it?? OOOOOhhhhh never again!!!! Almost puked thinking about it while doing this comment. LMAO!. I remember my mom and gramma having one of these, now i got one, thanks to my best friend of 50 years. These machines were built to last, like you said todays machines are chinese garbage ,that your lucky if it works new out of the box! Thanks for sharing, have a great day. M.

    Hello again. I finally got mine reassembled and running, and I'm impressed with its power. My only concern is that it gets really hot after only a few minutes of use. Is this a common thing with these machines, or should I get it checked out?

    Throw ice cream or grape juice in the carpet that would be a real test I remember seeing the ads for this in the late 80s early 90s

    I have one of these! It's gray though, I think it could be the standard sized one. I'm gonna use it for the first time in like ten years. Carpets are disgusting. I don't have soap either, but I'm gonna try some watered down laundry detergent HE type so there isn't a lot of foam. Should work. :)

    You should get a modern machine that you don't have to plug in to a sink.

    • @luvsthose8230s
      @luvsthose8230s  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      VacMaster1991 as a matter of fact I have a Kenmore spray mate with built-in pump that I got soon after this video and now the Bissell is just a back up. I agree having everything built-in is much better than running a hose to a sink.

    • @VacMaster1991
      @VacMaster1991 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea you would be limited to be near a sink. It would be hard to clean a car interior.

    I wish you would've shown how the pump works, if you have one... I got a Bissel Promax Plus yesterday and i'm not sure how similar they might be but this was very interesting anyway, thanks 🙂
    Edit: The carpets here probably haven't been cleaned in 20 years oh lord lol : x

    • @tylerufen
      @tylerufen 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i thought the pump was to empty the reservoir, my bad... i wish mine had the sink thing too, seems like a better idea than halving the capacity of the bucket but i guess the self contained unit was more marketable because people don't think that far ahead, and would want both waters to be in the same place...
