    One of my favorite ways to add to Fey character personality - take a character who loves Looney Toons style humor and gags, but make the consequences of their actions real, rather than cartoon-y.
    This works particularly well for unseelie Fey, who are more inclined to dark or violent humors.

    Seelie and unseelie are best described as mischievous or malicious, not good or evil.
    I once played a Seelie goblin Druid who was Cu Lwyd Cynning or the “Gray King’s hound”. He was the tracker of a Seelie equivalent of the Wild Hunt. Since time doesn’t pass in the Winter Court, he was thousands of years old and would sometimes disappear for years on end. He could remember when there were gods of the goblins who were friends of the sylvan elf gods.

    I have a Wood Elf Druid with Criminal background called Wildweed. By fifth level, he has Expertise in Stealth, which along with Pass without Trace grants him a Stealth of about 30. Thus, Wildweed can sneak by most dangers and prefers to solve problems with wit. Our party encountered a group of women being held captive by Drow. His fellow players asked how many Drow, how were they equipped and if they were aware of us. Wildweed asked, "How many women are we talking about?"

    My friend ran a Wild West-inspired campaign, and I played a satyr archfey warlock. I described my character as half man and half coyote, guiding lost souls to the bright lights of the fey casino run by my patron while avoiding a fire-and-brimstone preacher who blamed me for her son running away (she wasn't wrong).

    One race that was left out that has been directly impacted by the Fey Wild is the Firbolg. They used to be giant kin that resembled Scottis/Irish humans. This changed over the different editions, and they are now very much a liniage that has been altered by time in the Fey Wild.

    i took the pixie race from monkey dm, tweaked it a bit to me and my dm's liking, named her "sparkles mcfizzlebottom", gave her a personality that makes her likeable while also making her seem like she chugged down 5,000 bags of sugar, and gave her the circle of the shepherd druid....to summon more of herself...CANT WAIT TO PLAY HER! 💀💀

    The main thing with eladrin is that they charge form with their mood, and their mood tends to change easily.

    There's an old Dragon Magazine article (#374) where Eberron creator Keith Baker wrote an article about the Prince of Frost, his history, his realm, and also servants and pacts, and while I'm mostly a DM, I would love to make a future character that is either a Warlock (really like the idea of a bad actor who made a pact to become a good actor in famous romantic plays he sees in the cities, but whoopsie daisie, made it with this who encourages spreading of sorrow) or a Paladin with one of the Creeds written in there as part of their oath (example, the Bitter Creed says to Never Love, Be Cold, and Never Steal).

    • @feywildfiend

      The idea of a warlock wanting to act in romances but their patron insisting on a tragic Shakespearean turnout is utterly fantastic! I’m about to hunt down that article.

    The main standout of the eladrin is that they can change their elemental type with their mood. Any winter eladrin can become a spring or summer eladrin if they experience elation or rage. Good times.

    I’ve had the sudden obsession of Fey and the Feywild so thanks for this video, it rocks!
    Equally obsessed with Gnomes, and I was curious how (if at all) one would work in a Gnome into a Feywild setting or background. My class ideas for my Gnome were all between Warlock, Druid, or Bard

    • @feywildfiend
      @feywildfiend  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Any of those options would work great! It’s all about background and flavor to make sure they feel fey. If you want to make sure the stats make sense, I know there’s websites that will tell you the best classes for different races, but honestly, do whatever sounds fun!

    I literally just found the channel and i NEED to tell you abt my current character, they are part of a fey character dynasty, its 3.5 so things might be slightly different (or very ) i will explain incase you need it
    Im a tiny sized (less than 2 foot tall weighs 10 lbs) fey forest gnome (the gnomes were originally fey in ages past) he is a warlock drag queen who serves his patron The Aincent Mother Huntress, a previous character kilorean spirit shamen (kiloreans are fey born from the slaughter of other fey [with 3 personalities almost] to set it right and spirit shamen have tons of slots and few spells rettieved per day but you get to swap them so like a super sorcerer but druid spells mostly... it also comes with an extra personality to hold extra concentrationfor you lol) she became an arch fey and was seriously insane but the new character is one of the towns survivors. He became the first champion Since she controls spirit magic and is made of fey spirits she can now bring back the lost members of the town. Now is where things get interesting, even though low level numbers are virtually identical my character could do 216 straight damage and grappel 12 opponents at once all at lvl 1 and he could do that literally every round after (5 rounds of it ramping up by 36 a round. In 3.5 metamagic (and metamagic spell like abilities) are feats and just cost extra castings... 3.5 warlocks have unlimited castings a day and by using the flaws (anti feats) for feats feature things got a little out of hand... were lvl 4 now and if he has 24 hours to prep he can turn out more than a million straight damage a round (now its 72/round), clearly i dont use him like that instead he is mainly a stratagist and support character actually but if he went full agro yeah just a little broken
    And thats before we get to how he read a couple tomes of leadership and now his charisma is 32 so he has to find a way to hide to avoid scaring people with his beauty (thats about = to a 30 in 5e there is no cap in 3.5 and this is not the highest ive gotten a charisma score on a gnome from this village now that i think of it, my bard retired with like a 46 if he was standing there in the buff

    In a game i'm playing right now.I'm playing a human named thomas f.oolery And they're basically some kind of pseudo. Adopted Fay, who goes around in the material world singing songs just to make sure everyone's having a fun time and that's caused a bit of conflict for some of the players that I'm with, because I played as oh, I'm just doing all this for good fun.

    We’re starting a new campaign in the new year. My character, Batelee “Hank” Bluebottle, is a Fairy Wild Magic Barbarian. He was part of a street gang called The Spiders when he got mixed up with job gone bad and almost died. A priest of Lolth who was VERY lost in the Feywild found him, and because of the spider web tattoo on his neck, cured him and marked him as under the protection of Lolth. Hank helped the priest find a gate to leave the Feywild in return for curing him. Now that he is marked by the Spider Queen, he has to hide his mark, so Hank left the disorganized crime of his gang and turned independent bounty hunter. He was betrayed and agreed to a contract to get a fawn and bring him back for a bounty. The fawn, though, turned out to be an Archfey in disguise. Instead of killing Hank, the Archfey decided to exile him to the material plane until Hank could be rid of his goodie goodie ways, and embrace the chaos that is his birthright as a fey being. He also blessed him with the Wild Magic that manifests whenever Hank Rages. Hanks a bit confused at the moment with the Fey, the Underdark and the Material planes all tugging at him. And, he’s a lovely lavender color with rainbow shimmer dragonfly wings. They go nicely with his black leather motorcycle vest and gang tattoos.

    2: Adding to the races: Goblin, Bugbears and Hobgoblins are official playable races found in Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse. In there Changelings and Centaurs are also labeled as Fey for some reason that I am not familiar with

      I forgot about changelings! In classic folklore, when the fey kidnapped a baby, they would replace it with an identical fey called a changeling. Unfortunately, that tradition stems from babies having disabilities or neurodivergence’s that society didn’t understand. Those stories often turn dark. But in D&D, they just mimic the appearance of others, borrowing from that “identical” baby tradition.

    Been planning out a feywild arc for my campaign. In my homebrew setting, figures like Alice Kingsley, Dorothy Anne, Wendy Darling and Chihiro Ogino are all known survivors of the feywild. The lucky ones. Children disappearing is such a common occurrence, everyone’s collectively afraid of the enchanted forest just outside of town.
    The fey themselves have a name for outsiders that come in: Alice. If you’re not originally from the fae realm, you are an Alice. This is regardless if you are lost, a visiting adventurer, or a permanent resident. You are all Alice.
    Peter Pan and the Lost Boys are the single leading reason why the local fae fucking hate Alices. They are a bunch of menaces that harass the locals, destroy property and act like they own the place. Many lost children are often found by Peter and end up joining the group; learning his bad behavior and perpetuating the cycle
    Also there’s dinosaurs in my feywild cuz why tf not? Have some dinos miss their own extinction event, spend millions of years of evolution in this plane of magic, ba da bing! Ba da bam! A mutha fucking fae-rex!

    • @feywildfiend
      @feywildfiend  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The Alice’s, the Lost Boys, the dinosaurs-that all sounds so fun! I’m curious how you make the dino’s fey? What’s going on with those guys??

    • @TheKawaiifan
      @TheKawaiifan 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      so imma be honest....I haven't finalized the fae Dinos yet, lol. the feywild isn't gonna be til season 3 when my players get to go hunt down and kill the bbeg, and we just started season 2. my fey wild lore is still being developed, and I have 22+ weeks of time to do so before I actually have to use it
      currently im stuck mulling over ideas on what a fae-rex looks like. this has been ranging between technicolored feathered Dinos with some innate spell casting like misty step, to intelligent creatures who can talk and wear clothes similar to the dodo bird from Alice. one friend I talked to about this suggested that putting dinosaurs in the fey wild could actually serve as a decent origin story for dragons. like, dragons are just the evolutionary descendants of dinosaurs who were exposed to the fey wilds magic. been going back and forth on whether or not I wanna use this
      the fae Dinos also could be more abstract possibly? I plan on presenting my players with two conflicting stories on the fey realms origins. some npcs claiming that the realm has existed as long as the material plane, others stating that the fey wilds were born from dreams. which is correct? who knows
      really the fae dinosaur idea just stems from how I used to make my barbies ride into battle on a t-rex wearing a tutu as a kid, and how badly I'd love to recreate that experience in game@@feywildfiend

Maybe a side-by-side view of you and an artist's rendition of the topic. I'm not totally sold that my idea is any good, so I'd love to hear another opinion on it. eladrin found as a baby by sprites near the body of a green hag raised by local non-elf, sylvan groups (sort of a three godfathers flavor) but primarily by the grizzled old sprite knight who first found him. has no idea his age, (but he has yet to have his "first reflection" so he's either "broken" or probably adventuring at an unconscionably early age). sort of a peter pan character who expects to be taken seriously by the adults. he's a mercurial swashbuckler with a chip on his shoulder, an actual twinkle in his eyes, invisible friends who like to kibbutz, odd fey visitors at night, and with a party who's never had much experience with elves (yet somehow he's thriving)...

    In terms of official playable races that actually have the fey creature type, we have:
    . Satyr
    . Centaur
    . Hexblood
    . Changeling
    . Fairy
    As mentioned in the video, there are lots of other races with fey ancestory (in lore or mechanically) and who otherwise have lore connection with the feywild, but these are the only ones who are actually considered fey.
    Because of Hexblood ancestral legacy, you can also make ny other race into a fey by giving them the hexblood lineage (though they will lose most of their other racial traits in most cases)
