Flying JetBlue New Mint Studio Business Class A321LR Transatlantic

  • I tried out the new JetBlue Mint Business Class from LA to New York then onward to London, all the way across the Atlantic on a single aisle Airbus A321.
On my first flight from LA to New York, I was in a regular JetBlue Mint Suite. The seat was facing from window to inside the cabin. The dining concept was different and I could choose 3 plates and 1 dessert. The food both look and taste phenomenal. JetBlue has a great new product on the US Transcon market.
In New York, there was no lounge available for Business Class. I boarded my next flight to London. It was operated by A321LR with auxiliary fuel tank. The pilots explained their narrow body transatlantic operation. On this flight, I paid an extra $299 upgrade to sit in JetBlue Mint Studio in row 1. It has extra room with an extra buddy seat and table. I checked out the rest of the JetBlue product in both Core economy and Mint Business Class. At the end of the flight, I gave my verdict whether the JetBlue mint studio is worth the extra money.

JetBlue has become my favorite airline for both International and Domestic flights. I have yet to splurge on a Mint or Mint Suite but after seeing how nice it is I plan on going for it next time. The fact that the coach seats all have more leg room (and overhead storage bins) than any other airline I've been on has made me a loyal jetBlue customer from now on. Plus the blue lighting is aesthetically pleasing to the senses.

for good reason. JetBlue puts effort into their customer service and products and it really shows. That said, I’ve heard nothing but good reviews about their new mint product and I wouldn’t mind paying between 100 - 200 dollars for the mint, especially with all the extras you get with it.

@@sergiolaurencio7534 I think they are making a lot of changes this year, considering their international routes alone. So it would only make sense to implement a lounge. As far as their domestic routes go, financially for routes that are shorter than 4 hours, just doesn't make sense, but that could change.

I remember when JetBlue's whole deal was "we don't do first/business so we can give economy more space" and the whole live TV thing was a game changer. my family vacationed in NYC and Jetblue was our go-to airline. I'd like to try Mint sometime.

JetBlue has the best domestic business/“first” product in the US today. Mint is comfortable, the food is really quite good and innovative for airplane food. The seats are awesome, with a very nice selection of video and entertainment on the IFE. Very good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and the FAs seem genuinely happy.

Great transatlantic flight, and the Mint Suite would definitely be worth it for the extra space - being able to sit in another seat for a meal etc. Love the idea of the direct TV and free wi-fi. I would expect these flights to be in big demand and very successful as the US opens to UK travellers on Monday. BA need to take notice of this competition.

Personally, I think the Mint Studio would makes sense for long haul flights (7 hours or more). On a return flight like LHR to JFK (8 hours plus) I would probably pay extra for the studio, but I’d still be fine with the regular mint product. I think it comes down to the individual and their preferences/tolerance for flights. To each their zone (literally lol). Either way, JetBlue looks like a top choice flying, especially with the Mint product on transatlantic routes. I can’t wait to try it myself sometime soon. Great review Sam!

That's interesting what you said about turbulence over the Atlantic. A few years back we flew on an A321 on a flight to Hawaii and had the worst turbulence I've ever been on. A321 has an undersized wing, so I think that's part of that, and it tends to get tossed around more in turbulence. 757 has a much larger wing for its size. After that trip I swore I'll never do anything smaller than a 757 for transoceanic again.

Jet Blue always has meals for purchase in economy. Aside from maybe Alaska, the offerings are MUCH better (and cheaper) than Delta/AA/United. The economy pantry on Jet Blue offers a lot more than the big three in terms of snacks. Honestly, getting a whole can of soda in economy on a JFK to LAX big three flight is like asking for the CEO's first born. It's just how it is.

Thank you for another great video, the Mint product looks fantastic and the wifi could be a game changer in deciding an airline to cross the atlantic. My question for you is would you do this double hop from LAX to London instead of a direct flight on a widebody? This is something I am really considering for the better product.

JetBlue does economy meals when going transatlantic, and the meals are actually really good for economy!

Loved you video Sam as always. My husband works for jetblue at JFK as ground operations crew member. Been with them 14 years. The flight to London is band new for them and they take good care of the London flight. 😊👍I work at JFK as well and wish I could have met you. Keep the videos coming.

It is different seeing the smaller Airbus flying the Atlantic. For me For a single aisle aircraft it is the 757s that I still feel comfortable flying the distance across.

There have been a few airlines that have used the 757s to fly over the Atlantic. And then flying over the Pacific to Hawaii I still love flying the 757s to Hawaii. Now, up until the pandemic problem British Airways has the smaller all Business Class Airbus 318 flying over the Atlantic that fly into London City Airport. Have to see if they are still flying with that smaller aircraft with the present and soon I hope getting back to the new normal of flying. I still like the 757s aircraft to fly long haul. I do admire the flyers that like the Airbus narrow bodies flying the distance. We also have many flyers who have their small corporate private jets to fly the long haul distance. That is very nice to fly the Gulfstream with others like that corporate jets over the large oceans and that is a treat!!
