What makes me sad about places like this one is that, once upon a time, someone loved this house “home”, took time to decorate and cherished it. It’s great that you can create that opportunity again.
@RoadTripLover Why be sad at a place well lived in and once loved?? For a season it made memories for those who lived within its walls. Even if it had to be bombed now ,there's no need for sorrow, not all yesterdays make great t'moros. Learn to rejoice in the beauty that was , not in the junk that is . Positivity makes a far better foundation for the future than sadness at what is past.

It kind of made me sad that the owner of the cholesterol medication probably died and thus why all the furniture was left behind. I know it is just "stuff", but someone cared for it once. A lot of someones slept in those beds. Why didn't anyone want to come back and strip down the house of all the furniture and belongings? Why?

Omgoodness!! There are some real mid century modern treasures in that home!! The dining room table is beautiful not to mention the boomerang table and ceiling light. NICE!!
As a middle aged, never married man, you two offer a lot of inspiration for how a marriage can really work if two people share a common vision. I know other married couples who merely exist together, and some who despise their spouses. Thanks for sharing your lives and journey. Looking forward to see what happens with this house, it’s a simple layout but the setting along with some of you and Dave’s practical ideas could turn into a very nice home.
WOW, you all got so much accomplished. You two will always have wealth, because you are not afraid of hard work. That was gross, but you all did what had to be done. Your viewers are blessed to see this work in progress. Even the dog had fun. God bless.
I would have squished it. I don't normally squish bugs but that's a cockroach, and there is no such thing as one in a house. They are probably millions.
Having rebuilt a house recovered from 1920, and built one from scratch, I see what a mom and dad put into the property. Thank you for getting a great deal, but I see what they did for their children.
Love the boomerang table - it doesn’t look like it would be too hard to restore. I can also imagine how pretty that kitchen table would look once Brooke gets her creative hands on it.
The "Deep thoughts with Brooke and Dave" had me in tears 😂😂 I had to rewind and watch it again. What a team all you were on that clean out! Excited to see what's to come!
I am in LOVE with the boomerang table! They are highly sought after by mid-century modern collectors. There were actually quite a few pieces that are highly desired, like the kitchen chairs (the turquoise ones), but I couldn’t tell what condition they were in. The white vanity in the bedroom is another one, but sadly the mirror was broken (still desired though). I also liked the kitchen light & table! This place was like a time capsule! Brooke is so brave tasting the spaghetti sauce. I am a crazy person regarding food freshness, lol.
that vanity is a treasure!! My great grandmother had one in the same style. I used to love playing dress up at it. I was one of the few who was lucky enough to have her great grandmother until I was 24. Every time I see a vintage vanity in that style I smile.
Yeah, that Lane table was a great find. Loved the moments of deep thoughts, reflection and sage advice. 😄 Happy Belated 18th birthday! To your son. I'm amazed at how you guys tackle these projects. Take care and God bless.
Y’all are a hoot! I really enjoyed the deep thoughts segment, Moose’s zoomies and the curtains in need of fabric softener 😂 Thanks for sharing your hard work with us!
If Dave and Brooke decide to turn the porcupine lodge into a home. They might consider an addition. Pull the bump out off the back and put in a basement with a small addition. The basement would become the mechanical room with the radiant heat boiler, water heater, solar system (inverter, batteries, etc.), pump, generator transfer switch, plumbing and other things. On top would be a normal bathroom with flush toilet and hot and cold running water. Imitation log cabin siding and a couple of screen porches (one with room for a bench freezer) would dramatically improve Its appearance and curb appeal.
Brooke, You guys always tackle everything with a positive attitude. Even if it gets stripped down to the studs. It’ll be the BEST studs you have to work with! Thanks for always inspiring us.👍
Love it! We looked at 5 acres with an old, old double wide mobile home on it. The guy selling the property called the mobile a "fixer upper" I told him it was a "burner downer!" Which is what he ended up doing with it!
My Grandparents had one of those dinner tables with the leafs and 4 chairs back in the early 60s. That brought back a memory seeing those. Although Grandma's was wood finished and not painted. Might want to let an antique dealer check it.
Happy birthday to your son! Three hard working Whipples wiped out all that junk in a jiffy! Love the dining table set! It just looks like it belongs in a Brooke & Dave cabin! The cool coffee table, too! So much potential in that 800 sf. Can't wait for the next phase! God bless!!!

Pretty cool when you can find something of value on a property that you've just purchased. The table is a work of art! It's going to look amazing when it's cleaned up.
Brooke, I love this project. This house and property have such exciting promise. I'll be happy to see the work you put into this especially since you are so artistic.
