Thank you I was born in 1949, now you are taking me back 70 years. Guess I am old., some how I do remember seeing and enjoying 😂this show on tv. It ran on tv from 1953-58. 😊
If you think it running five years is impressive, go look up how many episodes they made in that five years. It will blow your mind! In those days actors worked like dogs. Five years now is maybe 50 episodes give or take. Again, look up how many were made for this show. OY!!!!
Thanks for this! This is S02E05: "Riley's Surprise Package" (10/16/53) "You'd hardly believe that amiable oaf Riley capable of such a thing. When he's asked to suggest a surprise for Gillis, Riley recommends a subsidized visit from his mother-in-law. We don't expect Riley to try anything like that again." [16Oct1953 Brooklyn NY Daily Eagle]
I just watched William Bendix in The Time Element by Rod Serling that acted as a catalyst for The Twilight Zone. He was totally serious and rocked the part. I had heard his name growing up but that was it, and IMDB showed he was in this show, which my Mom, who grew up in the 50s talked about all the time, so I am checking it out, Boy do people look a lot different now than then. The men's faces were so angular and stone like with deep lines, and now they are rounder and more feminine and have the low testosterone to match too. Half way through this show now, and so far, I like him in his drama role better, but he is fine here. What a bunch of familiar faces from olden days tv in this episode.
I was born in 1948, the best one I remember was about a boat. They built it in the house and had to knock out the side of the house to get the boat out. JohnBoyUtah 👍🏻😎🇺🇸🇺🇸

Bob Sweeney ( Mr.Dangle ) later in the early 1960s became a director who was a key in the early success of The Andy Griffith Show .
