My mother who was born in 1934 used to tell me how good this show was all the time. I was born in 1956 and I couldn't remember ever seeing it. But in 1982 CBN the Christian broadcasting network started airing the show. Luckily we had cable TV. I couldn't have agreed more with her. They had it on 5 nights a week and I fell in love with it. But they stopped showing it. I wonder why it was never syndicated on regular network TV. I just thought of seeing if it would be on TH-cam. What a treat.
Thank you VERY much for putting this episode up... and in such fine quality, too. Every other episode of "Life of Riley" has been uploaded in very low resolution. In some cases, the face of the fine actor William Bendix is so blurry that you can hardly see it. I am 70 and totally loved this series as a small kid.
I can't believe I've encountered this old show! I'll be 89 in March, and I used to listen to, (then later watch), this program when I was a boy; My mother considered 'Riley' to be a "moron" and that I too would grow up to be a moron if I continued listening to him! (I think mom was right, Just kidding) Thank you for this fantastic program. (New Subscriber)
Such memories!!!! I used to lie on the floor as a kid and watch the original broadcasts on our huge b&w Zenith tv. I haven't seen these in over 65 years. Thank you !!!!😊😊
I watched this show when I was a kid and just loved it (and I love it now.) 1 had a crush on Tom D'Andrea, and I named one of my teddy bears Honeybee after Mrs. Gillis.
TH-cam is the best for showing classic movies and tv shows! Thank you and keep up the good work!
Love this show while growing up in Maryland 😊
Always love this show when I was a kid. I'm 70 now Happy I found it here. I don't know why it never came back on TV

More to come!
I was a kid in the 1950s. This was my favorite show when I was 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. I went around saying " the life of Riley is my life!"
"What a revolting development this is!" I went around the house saying this when I was 8 years old in Springfield Massachusetts. Now 73 in Taiwan.

I’ve heard this on radio but this is the first time I’ve watched it. The house looks nothing like I imagined it would.
Bendix was great

George Fenneman, announcer.
The origin of like a third of Ben Grimm's vocabulary
Gloria Blondell was spunky like her (prettier and more famous) big sister Joan.
I prefer the radio show.
Honeybe Gillis = Trixie Norton
