Thank you so much for your videos. You're a life saver. P.S. I can't tell you how much I despise learning subject matter I'm never going to use in the field. Lol.
I've been trying to understand priority groups that were introduced in our homework mind you not in actual class and I was so confused trying to read about it. You literally cleared up my confusion in 5 seconds. If more orgo professors taught like you there wouldn't be so much stigma around the class. thank you!!!!!
Pretty good, but you should have included some double bond chains outside of a ring with double bonds inside. You helped get some big concepts though, good job!
I always love your video! God bless you, man! Whenever I don't understand something, I just watch your video and then I'm good to rack the chemistry 👌.
8:10 a little doubt... If we count on the left side including the double bond it becomes 8 which means octene and u said that we should give priority to that double bond but why?

Right. At first I'm like oh easy, double bonds means end everything with ene ... then came the addition of other molecules being attached which made it even more confusing as well as multiple double bonds turning it into diene, triene, etc and having to put it all in alphabetical order 😭
@@specialgamer6852 looking back now, I think its because he stated that the double bond should be the lowest no. The double bond's position takes precedence when determining the name. 8:17 sir this is not the longest chain and you check again by numbering from left until you reach down to the branch and you will find out that the longest chain is actually octene , THANKS for your efforts .
For the example at 8:33, isn't the priority to find the longest chain? As such, shouldn't the left ethyl group be part of the chain, and the double-bond be called a 2 methyl groups?

the double bond needs to have the lowest number which is 1 so the chain starts from there
