No, you have to include both the carbons involved in the double bond, in the configuration you suggested only one of the carbons involved in the double bond is considered. @@sanyasarin

Since you can have the double bond on Carbon 1 with a 7-carbon chain, you must use that option because it gives the double bond the lowest possible number.

at about 8:37 you have an Alkene in which you named it 2,4-diethyl-1-heptene. Why did you say this is a heptene instead of an octene? Starting from left and counting down is it possible for this to be an eight carbon parent chain resulting in 5-ethyl-3-methyl-3-octene?
8:16 I know that the bond should get the lowest number but the longest chain contains 8 carbons by counting from the left!! But why did he take heptene instead of octene?

the double bond needs to have the lowest number which is 1 so the chain starts from there

There is no ethyl group, the CH2CH3 bit is part of the butene chain!
