Excellent presentation, with clear concepts. I'm a 77-year old, retired electrical engineer. Had studied organic chemistry in my inter-science(today's 12th std). Though teachers in my college were good, the way you are explaining is superb. I really envy the milleniums. With teachers like you they need not go to any coaching classes.
List of priority - COOH (carboxylic acids) - CHO (aldehydes) - (ketones) - OH (alcohols) - yne (triple bond) - ene (double bond) - Cl, Br, (halogen group) - CH3- C2H5 (methyl, ethyl) So the answer should be 3,4-dibromopentanal because the functional group is an aldehyde and not a ketone

Guys, this thing is kinda confused, let, watch over it carefully, " I think the numbering we should used is the backward one, I mean the one that starts from the (aldehyde), because it's the functional group that has the smallest number which is 1, and the largest, if we're to look at it in a forward numbering it is 5, while bromine in backward numbering are, 3,4. If we're to look at it in a forward numbering it's 2,3. So we'll rather use the backward numbering which starts from the (aldehyde) then our bromine numbering will be 3,4 respectively, let check the example our tutor did for (4-chloropentanoic acid) for better understanding. Thanks 👍

it's 3,4-dibromopentinal, because of the priority list where aldehydes (O=C-H) are 2nd, so we will be using the numbering where aldehydes are the first one (right to left)
