We live in South Africa. My daughter lived overseas in Germany where she met her husband. We arranged everything for them in South Africa as they came to SA to get married here. I am old enough to be the bride's grandmother, and I love classical music. Whilst it is great for church, I think it really puts a damper on the reception once the meal is complete. Let's face it, it's not the kind of entertainment that gets people mixing!
This is really so sad, "my vision, my vision, my vision", from women who already had that chance with their own weddings, care nothing for the bride and groom and their vision.
Two of my sons are engaged. My rule for their weddings were simple; 1) my boys needed to compromise with their fiancé on location because we are better able to travel for the weddings than the fiancé (s) families so the boys need to ensure convenient locations for their in laws if that is a high priority to fiancé. 2) No being stubborn on colors, offer their input, then smile and wear whatever. 3) it is ultimately about The bride and groom - if anyone is insisting on certain people attending, decor, clothing, food etc…. Remember if they aren’t paying, if it’s not your vibe, if you don’t want it say no…. 4) if anyone gives you any issues give them my number- it’s you guys wedding period. It is about bride- groom- your important guests- and you guys vision…. Period! This momma bear is simply the enforcer of that. 🤷🏻♀️ I just can’t be imposing on their day beyond those rules honestly.
Aww.. Iiss my mom. She passed away Dec 2012 tell your boys that they better enjoy momma being momma bear for as long as they have you. They will miss it. Lol but respect to you for making sure the bride to be is respected and making sure that her family can attend by making sure the place is closer to them then you. Also making sure that your boys help the bride to be on choosing stuff and making sure they go to the apts that they need to be at. Congrats on having a new daughter coming into the family. Blessings to them an I hope they have a perfect wedding. Remind them tho that some things happen and can't change it they just got to laugh it off an just enjoy their day. It's ok. They will look back an laugh about it 20 yrs from now. The brides to be ate getting a amazing momma in law. They are very lucky. You enjoy the day as well. Your little boys are now men.
Tbf I think it’s both of them that focused on looks. That’s all she was talking about too. They both feel pretty superficial imho and he feels kinda like he owns her not that he’s his fiancé … she can’t even think for herself or even choose her clothes like wut … I don’t see their marriage lasting too long tbh

Perhaps that is all she's even seen while shopping. I'm sure she sees her choice through her own life's experiences I don't care much for "traditional" wedding with the boring music. Especially the reception
My husband and I considered our parents and their guests when we married. It's paid off...we've been married for 39 years. All of our parents are now dead except for my mother, but all of them enjoyed each other's company even without my husband and I present.

Katherine needs to stop acting liike a karen mememe. Ana needs to act more like a mother not a bestie of the bride.if my mom acted like either one of these women id just elope
I love Ana's mum's idea of having salsa, merengue and cha cha music and cocktails at the reception though. Sounds like fun. If they tastefully mash the two themes together it would be a brilliant wedding. Like wearing a traditional dress and a violin for the church and the sexy dress and Latin music for the reception.
Perfectly agree, if the mothers could have agreed on a 2 piece dress with an over-skirt, she would have had both styles. I mean look at her, 90 percent of this video (and I assume in daily life) she wore short dresses and her husband said “if it’s too long , I get scissors “...how could the MIL overhear that?
Agree. so many of the weddings on this show could be a great mix if done right. Keep stuffy formal for ceremony spirited reception to follow. Classic music I love but for reception you need fun. This wedding could have been such an amazing blend
The whole wedding looked gorgeous, im glad she wore Nicks mums dress, it looked very elegant, the other one looked cheap, good for a party not a wedding x

No reason the bride couldn't wear the gown for the ceremony & change into the short dress -NOT the tacky one, but the classy flirty one from the bridal shop. Evey single issue could have been massaged. What the moms didn't hesr was "we like parts of BOTH visions"
The sons Mom chose the ugliest shoes Ive ever seen. Definitely not from the forties unless you're working in a laundry. Spent my life watching classic movies and that was not the style. His Mom is delusional. Seems she really doesn't like her daughter in law.
I thought the 2 moms could have compromised more. They should have considered their children’s taste. The wedding dress was pretty but could have been a bit lower cut and the back could have been low without being tasteless.
The groom's mom has a higher standard. God forbid a woman wears a wedding dress that "fits" and the bride doesn't have her breasts on display. As far as compromise goes? The groom's mother won the contest.... Technically she didn't have to compromise at all, but the brides mother was such a whiney, manipulative, cry baby that she was willing to compromise on the music and cake.
I'm sorry but the brides mother is mutton dressed as lamb unable to accept that she is aging and trying to force her daughter to stay a party girl like her. The brides mothers ideas are great for say a 21st or 30th birthday party, but not a wedding. The grooms mothers ideas are a little boring, but at least it is more suitable to a wedding.
The bride has no personality. She just does whatever the groom wants, she can't even decide what to wear, she has to be told what to wear. They both care about how they look, what happens when they get old - what will they have left that they actually like
I planned my whole wedding all by myself without family members, my mother, etc. Only me and my future husband did all the planning and it was a stunning wedding. My parents lived far away - they only attended the wedding and arrived 2 days before our wedding. I planned everything and was in total control with my future husband. I love classical music and all of these were too technical. Bring some emotion to it. 40s jazz, swing, Latin dance was becoming popular, and big band music. Mixed with classical it would be a fun traditional wedding.
These two mothers are very much alike,,,,,but also very different. They are each controlling, opinionated, and stubborn. Their visions express their backgrounds and what they are accustomed to. My mother invited a few people to my first wedding which were her friends. I Invite 9 family members to my second wedding and it cost £250 was amazing.
#1 That short dress had potential. place a long sparkly removable shirt overlay that exposes front only. she could remove it for dancing at reception. #2 flaming bananas foster dessert #3 Classical spanish guitar for music .
This is the bride and groom’s wedding, they should choose where and how they should do their wedding. And the relatives should deal with it whether they like it or not
The grooms mother came out with a beautiful style wedding. I love the red black an white that's actually what my house is in. Lol she could do my wedding. The brides mom had more of a party. Not a wedding. The music is more for a wedding tho.
Music from her mom and maybe hors d’ oeuvres. They need a little of both. I love his moms stuff for all except music and maybe the top hat. Over all final things were done well.
This is a horrible idea! The mother in charge only cares about what she wants. Those poor kids! I feel so bad for them. Catherine should be ashamed of herself!
I wish my adult daughter would watch a few of these episodes. If she did she would consider me a saint and the best Mom ever. She has no idea what is out there and how much I put her needs and wants ahead of my own always.
The whole idea of this show was for the kids to pick. The mother of the bride was dirty ,buying that dress after nicks mom agreed to have a second cake and her music. I'm pretty sure if the roles were reversed I'm sure she would t have given in.
Both mothers are silly. you need some quiet music for certain parts but you don't want to put people to sleep either. We need some dance!!!!!!! its a wedding not a funeral. the one is right
I am astonished at the selfishness of the mothers. It is all about their feelings. I’m just wondering what goes on in their minds and I’m the mother of a daughter her age, they are just not thinking of the couple are they? A1940s wedding could still have lively music.
Oh man, I think the moms should get partners and rustle up a little salsa program to kick off the reception! I like the traditional ideas and look, but toss in a little spice as well! A couple surprises!
This was not a bright idea. AT ALL! LMAO! Like who came up with this?! The wedding planner looked at the moms like........GUHL?! GWOOOOORRRRAAAALLLL? I wouldve ran like, do yall have another mom? A grandmother?! Somebody?!!
The mother of the groom was so annoying. She was playing so sweet and nice but was so stubborn and set on her ideas she couldn't see that her actions were hurting the others. I thought she could have at least compromised a little bit. She couldn't even compromise with her son. A true leader isn't me, me, me. It's someone who can listen to others and come up with a solution that is a middle ground for everyone involved. This was painful to watch.

The black, red & white theme will go great with salsa music. Latin dancing is part of classic ballroom dancing too. Good save.
I think both mothers have forgotten about the most important thing. The children’s happiness. It is their wedding not the self-centred mothers.
The groom's mom is so conservative, but her son has tattoos and earrings!
It's scripted. The violinist in the audition was not even playing a violin.

I am astonished at the selfishness of the mothers. It is all about their feelings. I’m just wondering what goes on in their minds and I’m the mother of a daughter her age, they are just not thinking of the couple are they? A1940s wedding could still have lively music.
Now this episod was half descent. To anyone who reads the comments before watching the whole thing.? Who do you think they are going to choose?
I would have thrown out both ideas and planned my own wedding together.
Oh man, I think the moms should get partners and rustle up a little salsa program to kick off the reception! I like the traditional ideas and look, but toss in a little spice as well! A couple surprises!
No way I would ever do this.
This was not a bright idea. AT ALL! LMAO! Like who came up with this?!
The wedding planner looked at the moms like........GUHL?! GWOOOOORRRRAAAALLLL?
I wouldve ran like, do yall have another mom? A grandmother?! Somebody?!!
Brides maid dresses were gorgeous, too
The mother of the groom was so annoying.
Do all Americas treat their weddings as a fun, lottery, crazy event?
That's what I wanted to know? Maybe if I got the wedding for free. My mom and mom in law were very classy ladies. I would have been fun.
This was a Canadian show. It's worse in the US.
No.
Long dress for ceremony. Short for reception.
No this is entirely satire. Many couples spend over a year in the the US to plan their wedding.
