- What if you can turn jealousy into your friend and make you become a better version of yourself? In this talk, Miss World Vietnam 2019, Luong Thuy Linh is sharing her stories of how with the right mindset towards jealousy, we can utilize the power of it. Luong Thuy Linh is a beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss World Vietnam 2019. She represented Vietnam at Miss world 2019 and was placed in Top 10 Beauty with a purpose, Top 10 Top model, and Top 12 finalist. She is currently a student at Foreign Trade University, majored in International Business. She is climbing the career ladder, becoming the Project development director of a real estate group.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
Instead of being jealous, see it as the motivation to strive!
Completely agree with her that: don't compare yourself with others, don't be jealous. We never know we can be better than we are right now. Appreciate it. Thanks 🌹
LOL
She is a living example of beauty with the brain, not only does she has a charming and attractive features but also a heart of gold. I strongly proud of you from Vietnam 🇻🇳 she's also a student of top-notch university otherwise.
The first Vietnamese in Ted Talks I've watched so far. She is even younger than me, but how amazing she is. It's good to see how she brings motivation and inspiration to young people. She did a good job!
The others are Christine Ha and Andy Nova. You can don't know Andy Nova but Christine is a synonymous chef of Vietnam who won the American Master Chef.
Exactly, so great.

She is not suggesting us to be jealous but become inspired from others success and follow your dreams , goals...

Competition is everywhere as long as we don't compete there is no chance to survive in this cruel world😂
So not in negatively way but
In a positively way we have to be jealous 🙏🏾
She is so adorable. Her accent is lovely too. well-done girl!

She improved a lot!!! my favourite Miss World Vietnam!!
She might be a little bit of scared but to a student who are practicing listening like me can understand what she talks about, it's so good. And I have to say her talk gave me many inspiration.
A flawless combination between beauty and intelligence. The topic is not new, but i really admire her confident expression in English.
" I dare you all to be jealous" OMG she is only 20! how confidence it is!!
She has a nice accent. And I love the way she express and set a talk. 😁😁❤❤
Lương Thùy Linh, Nguyễn Hữu Chí. I'm so proud of you❤️❤️. VietNam 🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳
As a Vietnamese, I'm so proud of you. You inspired me a lot on how to build my career ladder & improve my self step by step.
Yeah!
How did you learn English?can you share me some methods to learn English?
@@truongtruong817
To be honest, I dont have any particular methods. Im just searching for new knowledges from journal (gg scholar), books or on TH-cam. I usually do daily things in English too (such as planning, tracking, listening podcasts, reading, bla bla) :)).
Maybe the key is that I do those simple stuff everyday and hardly break my streak.
Wish you find out the methods which are suitable for you soon !

I'm impressed by her way of speaking. Really natural and easy to understand
Jealousy itself is a negative word. Instead, guide our children to be inspired and motivated by other's success. At the same time, teach them to stay humble with their success and not doing things that may trigger others' jealousy.
Stop being jealous; be inspired and stay humble!
Happy New Year to all!
I can understand where you were coming from with the negative meaning of the word is already widely interpreted by society. We can always choose to see the world, not just for its definition alone, but also the agree that envy and/or jealousy. A word can also be interpreted differently in; positive way. The feeling that attaches to it can be unpleasant. But if you listen carefully to how she dealt with that uneasy feeling by shifting her perspective, you will realize that feeling isn't always that bad.
I also agreed with Linh about how she had a different thought about jealousy itself.
In her speech, she's offering a new perspective if you followed through with her story to the end. She meant to say that there is nothing wrong with how we feel, but rather how we choose to see them feeling because sooner or later, we will have to decide how to act out of such feeling in which way pays us fewer expenses in the future.
I think we are all thriving to be better versions of ourselves. Therefore we are competitive by nature. Some choose to compete with others, while others compete with themselves. And feeling jealousy or envy of someone or something is inevitable.
Those feelings by human nature are not easy to deal with when we negatively perceive them. They can be parts of our personalities that we don't want to accept that we do possess those traits as human beings.
I can't argue that envy and/or jealousy: wanting what we wish to have for ourselves, that we yet to have; Those feelings by human nature are dominantly negative to experience. But what if those feelings are also parts of our personalities as human beings. Things that we often deny to accept that we all are, and we all have?
By seeing jealousy and/or envy in another light: joyful jealousy is a way to view the feeling in alternative ways, being joyful jealousy, in the other word, seeing the goods in the bad in such feeling, it can be a motivation for any one of us to start acting out differently to be better, grow better. Self-improvement begins when we accept that we are both bad and good, and feeling jealousy of something or someone is OK. Only with full self-acceptance, the journey of self-improvement can get a set go.
Just an opinion, peace! Happy new year!
@@makemusicwithmian1668 Yeah, I totally agree with you. The way you explain that made me feel easy to accept her statements. Thanks!
@@hoangnghia Yes you are welcome! She is a national pride and I can see a lot of potential in her. With this mindset, she can really go places that is beyond her imagination in the future regarding what she can do as Miss Vietnam 2019 and what else she can do as a public speaker. She really does have perspectives and that is not something everyone can see or able to open the mind to accept. I am glad I helped you to receive her message with a better understanding.
Perspectives are valuable, it opens our minds and hopefully change our perception about ourselves and the world we are living in.
Thank you for your comment and affirmation. Happy new year!
Íts not about how you educate the youngster, its about turning jealousy to motivation. Its all about YOURSELF, not OTHER.

An intriguing biography from Luong Thuy Linh is a huge motivation to the youth and worth being shared and encouraged. Becoming a friend with our own jealousy and overcoming it is the biggest obstacle in individual life. She did the speech so well.

The first time I saw a Vietnamese speaker. And I am also a Vietnamese very proud of you
Yes, we don't know the hardship that people go through to get what they have now. But also, we don't know all the privileges that they receive that might contribute to their success. So, no, don't put yourself and others on a scale. We all come from different backgrounds and we have differing scales.
The 1% who's reading this may all your dreams come true
may yours' too :)
Just 1% ? Please
I am truly convinced by what Linh had performed. It's totally awesome
I think what she means is the mindset to never settle, always compare ourself with people, to look up good examples and even have a gut to be better. And competition is essential to our society development imo. Let alone unfair competition, everyone should have the will to make things better and dare to compete with other. It will drive us all to bright future.
she seemed a bit nervous, but still had a good performance, great deal of motivations from her content
As a young girl from the mountains she is naturally shy and kinda introverted. I think on this side she represents people from community very well (no offense). But this doesnt stop her from achieving further and thats why we have her on Tedx stage today 👍
Nervousness is normal during public speaking which can be contributed by a lot of factors. The most important is her story which is very real and inspirational. It is a good guidance for the youth to stay focus on your path and make your dream come true rather than only comparing yourself to someone else without making any changes in life.
Can you please present a long dificult topic of Talk ? I really wanna see how better or worse you will do . Please please please
@@unfortunatedestiny7424 It is not a hard topic, indeed. The most crucial thing is how she presented her speech in front of the audience. A difficult topic of Ted is usually about renovation, which needs so many technical words. Besides, a Ted speech often lasts about 20 minutes or more. Can you evaluate her speech fairly?
Việt Nam tự hào về bạn. Vietnamese proud of you
Here's my takeaway: you should consistently be jealous at something then TAKE ACTION. Know why you're jealous and make it as a motivation to become a better version of yourself.
It is a great speech. I was brushing my teeth on one hand and tapping on phone to start the ted talk video by another hand to listen, didnt read the title. I didnt have any clue that this speech is given by a Vietnamese. So proud of you ♡♡♡

So beautifull😗
Not always accurate. Happiness is different to every individual. Competition makes human’s minds tired and exhausted. Many times in my life, I’ve witnessed a lot successfull people who are not competitive at all. They are the ones who understand deeply when to humble themselves, when to being modest, when to give up. They are the ones living super long life along with abundant richness till the end.
Or maybe they keep it to themselves and you wont ever know ☺️
@@rebelbeo If they are competitive, they can’t survive in their positions.
Totally agreed
Agree. Personally, I think competitiveness is the reason for unhappiness. Lived it myself.
Totally agree, to me live for yourself for your passion and wht makes u truly happy is the rite thing, being competitive drags u to goals that are outer of yourself and u will never really know wht makes u happy except exceeding others. But i think theres "positive jealousy",seeing others better than u and want to learn from them to better yourself for your own happiness is a benign thing
I am 39 years old woman with two kids and i found that “OMG that young girl tell exactly what I need”. Thank you so much beautiful lady, I really inspired by you. Please keep going with your work, wish you all the best 😍😍😍

The last sentence made me really motivated. I'm here to listen to you and i'm here to do for myself.
Throughout this video, I am desprately admire her talent and also her good cozy voice. Beside, she had talked the prime of envy and jelousy for one's development. It not only let you know what you are capable of and not, and help you realize what you are missing points. These are the major factors for people who want to improve themself to a higher standard
Her road to be a professional model is highly inspired me. She also display good personality traits
I had watched her video countless time on repeated. Withing this short video of 10 minutes 47 second it had help me to learn more about myself and what I need to improve in order to achieve my goal in this year
as a Vietnamese, i'm so proud of you and I also admired you. You are a clever girl, pretty !
Very proud of a fellow Vietnamese

Yah the first time i've been heard your name by the title: "Miss World Vietnam 2019", some thoughts that slip through my mind are: "Nothing but beautiful girl and entertainment tools for the rich ".. sorts of that. But after hearing this video, I have to search Google by myself what actions you have been doing for the community because all the things you said are really inspired ...So proud of you
she's amazing! beautifil and talented is what i want to say about her
Why live an envious life when you can otherwise??? If this worked for her doesn’t mean it’s good . Just be self motivated. Don’t need to compare yourself to anyone . 🙏🙏👌
Proud of you. Miss 2019
Thank you.
Now it time for the terror and fear half.
This is the way.
I always jealous with other's achievement and compare to myself, say to myself that I was not gonna be good like them, which made me felt unconfident. Now I can turn my jealousy into a motivation and push myself forward. Thank you for reminding me ! ^^
Have you get achieved anything in your life?
instead of feeling jealous, see as the motivation to strive to keep going
Agree, no pain no gain. Got to work hard to succeed :) so proud of you Thy Linh!
Cool! Be Joyful jealous!
Inspirational talk. It gives me more confidence to be jealous 😆 yet with a positive attitude
So excellent a speech. I could see how effective when we jealous of other's achievements. Making ourselves better every day is setting others' victories as our goals. Jealous in a joy, envious in a positive way, look around to see where we are in this society and continue improving yourself every day.
I just came across a shortcut video in tiktok about this talk. I'm very surprised how amazing she's. So do you feel happy with continuous comparing, competing, and 'joyful jealousy'? What value does it add to society? What are lessons bigger than yourself that you learn?...
I guess joyful jealousy drives people forward so it helps the whole community to move forward?
@@laladu6490 ’joyful jealousy’ or whatever is just a man-made concept. In reality, we already see lots of advanced development of our society so far, the 4th industrial revolution for example. But do you see the world nowadays is a mess? Covid-19, climate change, violence... It’s time to see the world from various perspectives, development should be balanced and in alignment with the flow of nature, otherwise, people can destroy themselves and the earth...
On the other hand, if we don't see it as jealousy, but cooperation, we don't waste energy comparing and competing, and the benefits would be enormous... For example, if you compare which country fights against Covid-19 better, who wins? What’s the meaning of that victory?...
