Didn't know there was another cheapo planar there. The KZ Pr1 was going for around 45-50, and the Pr1 Pro was around 70 or 80. What would be the benefits of IEM planars though? I heard they are hard to drive, which seems a bit counter-productive when it comes to IEMs.
I got this, it is an excellent quality driver ruined by abysmal tuning, and I'm not sure an EQ job alone could fix this. I'd recommend TRN's Xuanwu with the square planar much more over this, it's cheaper and tuned significantly better (but still needs a small EQ fix IMO).
Those are almost 4 years old now. Still an okay IEM, but KZ has since come out with better IEMs that have a more refined tuning, and with highs that aren’t as sharp.
Yeah, these weren’t for me. I love the soundstage and fit, but the tuning is too harsh and fatiguing in general. I couldn’t even sit all the way through some songs. I’m going to keep them though, so I can tinker around with EQ. Not that familiar with how it works, but it could be a good learning opportunity, especially since this has a planar driver. Maybe I can eventually turn it into an S12, who knows. Good review, keep up the good work.

They normally have great resolution and detail and can EQ very well but hard to drive is a negative of them.
Kz pr1 Pro 😁👍
@@muhasri1985 Shame I never tried them.

They should have done more R&D before release and this could have been amazing but it was not meant to be.
Wow, huge drop in price bracket for planar. Shame about the tuning but good to see the prices crashing!
I agree with that fella.
bought PR2 instead but honestly I'm still curious about this one since almost no one ever talk about it
Did you get the early PR2 with the mesh on the driver?
@@VortexReviews1 Unfotunately not, I got the new batch
@@rahma_dihann Ok.
Just buy the KZ ZSN Pro you’ll be amazed how good they are, especially after wearing them in. Incredible for the price! £22
They were a poor pick in my opinion. So many models available now are the way to go.

The KZ PR1 Balanced or Pro would be a much better buy
Is this better than TRN VX in technicalities?
I got rid of the VX a while ago.
Just have to say... Your voice reminds me of Korg, from the Thor movies
I am not even from New Zealand lol

Thanks very much and they are indeed fatiguing. EQ is the big help on this one.
close but no cigar, thank you
Indeed and thanks for watching.
Needs more subbass haha
Indeed!
The shell looks the same as TRN Kirin and, having the latter, it is a hard pass for me. Kirin is uncomfortable for my ears.
I never tried that model.
I'll never buy anything Trn ever again
I understand that.
