Agreed. Its that MIDRANGE. No one had a more RICH velvety textured voice than Elvis. Most people cant get a hit without a grand high note. But with Elvis... every note is GOLD.

@@suspiciousminds1750 Willy's got a very distinct voice, the moment he opens his mouth, you know its Willie Nelson. Same with Elvis. But Elvis had something more than Willie. Elvis had a 1 in a Billion baritone voice, with perfect pitch, unique vibrato and seasoned in southern churches in the middle of the Great Depression and segregation. He was dirt poor in his childhood and teen years. So he knew pain that few did. Its all worked into a perfect storm and made EP the most unique singer that ever did it. No surprise that he outsold them ALL. Even Michael Jackson.

Elvis did this song right after he and Priscilla separated. He was heart broken when she left and took his daughter. This song, Separate Ways, and Its Midnight. You can so vividly hear his pain when he sings these songs.

Fun fact: Cissy Houston, Whitney Houston’s mother, recoded this song in 1992. She had been part of the Sweet Inspirations. They sang backup for Elvis. According to Secondhand Songs, this song has been covered over 200 time. The last time it was covered was 2022. A great song lasts forever.

Love your genuine comments as Elvis was all you have realized as you listen to his plethora of songs over his short singing career about 1954 to August 16, 1977, when the voice stopped, but will never be forgotten. 🎵❤✝🙏 He held his gospel music very close to his heart and soul, he would pause a concert and ask his backup signers to chime in on a gospel song of choice to give him a moment to listen.

I love you're reactions ! My parents were huge fans of The King. I was only 11 when he passed. To this day, I still love his music. What u hear is the real deal. No auto tune back then. He had so much talent.

I enjoy Elvis rehearsals better sometimes than the stage or recorded versions, because you can actually get a feeling of who he is. He had a wonderful sense of humor and displayed it eith his band and singers. That's why they loved working with him, and stayed with him until he passed.

Love the Elvis reactions. I grew up on Elvis but it wasn't till the new movie that I LISTENED to Elvis. Since the movie, I have bought a record Player, and like you, I want to EXPERIENCE Elvis raw. I now have 75% of his original catalog on record and in thier first pressing. Elvis truly is a journey and I love watching your reactions because it's beautiful to see what this man does to the human soul once you hear him. Sorry for the rant.

The thing about Elvis is that the difference between rehearsal, live or from the jungle room or the( finished ) record is can you really tell the difference he really was that good and even today people still think he wasn't that special 🤔 They haven't got a clue a one off.
He had so many good songs but this one has always pulled on me in a unique way even when I was just a kid and couldn’t really understand it. There’s something about the emotion he pours into his songs.
After he cut this he sat in the studeo for 3 hours with Jerry Schilling and staired at the ceiling listening to it over and over again and then Priscilla was gone and the begining of the long downward spiral started
Ronny Tutt was his drummer from start to the end in ELVIS'S first year he had three guys Bill black on bass Scotty More on lead guitar and TJ Fontana on drums . Then came his forever TCB band.

Mark James is credited as the primary writer of this song. Willie did not write it, but performed it and took it straight to number one. Mark James also wrote Suspicious Minds......those 2 songs landed him in the Songwriter's HoF a few years ago.

He is still the most recorded solo artist in time. Then the academy disrespected him this year by snubbing the film (which git a 13 minute standing ovation at Cannes) plus robbed Austin of the Oscar he truly deserved for his Oscar performance of a lifetime. Thanks to Baz and Austin a whole new generation is getting to know of the great music and beautiful voice of Elvis which stands the test of time.

Elvis ' version should have won a Grammy. It my opinion it is BY FAR much better than Willie Nelson's version. But the Grammies have ALWAYS been very biased as to who they give Awards to ...Out of all of Elvis' 'music, he only received 3 Grammies and it was only for gospel songs . Many of Elvis' classic rock and roll songs were never even considered for a Grammy ...This is the reason I NEVER watch the Grammy Awards on television, and it isn't ONLY because of Elvis...Some of the best songs ever recorded by other people too have never gotten a Grammy. I don't like Award shows in general because they tend to be biased and political much of the time .
