  • The Kia Soul is a subcompact crossover SUV that has been continuously produced since early 2008. Being one of the best-selling models in the segment, the Soul has proven its worth since it arrived in the United States.
Being part of the third generation, the 2023 Kia Soul comes with a few changes from the outgoing 2021 model year, making it a more rounded offering.
So let's take a look at ten things you need to know before buying the 2023 Kia Soul.

We bought new in 2020 a Kia Soul GT Line, it has more than met our expectations. A fun vehicle to drive, super comfortable, gobs of head and legroom, fuel efficient, reliable and handles well. It is a smaller version of the Telluride or maybe the Telluride is a larger version of the Soul. Hmmm? I have owned over 50 vehicles and this one is a favorite. It just turned 50,000 miles.

We loved that car and it had no problems and it was well maintained with 110,000kms on the odo.

I can't believe they aren't continuing the turbo models. I own a 2020 turbo Soul and I think it is amazing. The 200hp turbo-charged engine is quite powerful with amazing torque in mid range. I find that it handles excellently in tight turns. The DCT transmission isn't super responsive in start/stop situations (feels like a manual transmission but without the level of control/ability to prepare), but otherwise works great with fast shifting and downshifting and the paddle shifters are fun. From what I can tell, the 1.6 engine is made better than the 2 liter. Personally, I get 31+ mpg with the turbo model. I also love the front light design on the 2020 year higher trims. Nice to see the new low-trim Souls look much better.

I have owned 2 Kia Souls' A 2013 that I traded for a new 2019 almost 4 years ago now. I have enjoyed both of these Soul's, and both have been trouble free. However I will never buy another KIa or a Hyundai. My reason is the nonchalant and uncaring attitude by these automakers in regards to the outrageous amount of thefts of these vehicles. All due to the not installing a proper anti theft system to prevent easy theft of the vehicles. All the way up to 2022 models nothing was done. Now the cars are being stolen at alarming rates, and both Automakers refuse to do anything. How about at least offering owners a Club. Something to show the Automakers at least care and acknowledge the fact, that the cars were being sold and KIa was aware they were easy targets. To literally announce now that they would do nothing but sell owners a anti theft system, and the customer could pay to have it installed by these two automakers is disgraceful. So No more Kia cars for me. When I trade this if it doesn't get stolen that is. There will never be another Kia in my driveway again. I am glad that the the lawsuits have started in a number of states. Perhaps it will force the automakers to offer something to owners of these cars. Like install the proper anti theft system that should have been installed in the first place.
