4th Step: Finishing up the boards. Planting inserts, hot-coating, grinding and sanding.

Here is where I put inserts into the boards to attach the foot-straps. I also cap the inserts with fiberglass, I hot-coat the decks, and then I grind and sand the bottom and the rails of the boards. I also show a board that I designed and built 24 years ago with my friend Jimmy Lewis. I used the exact same materials back then as these boards I just built. The foam and door-skin was scrap that was left over from construction in Jimmy's shop. He was building custom twin-tips through a laborious, expensive process laminating many, many sheets of divynicell foam together - so I wanted to show him an easier way. Although he did not adopt my method, I still use it today, and make really strong boards this way.
