Nigeria was indeed a great country with a very strong currency. Today things are worst and Nigerians are escaping in droves to all developed countries in the world while the country continues to suffer from brain drain. Sad to say the least !!!

Naira is very weak now but till around 1984 a dollar wasn't up to one naira.The exchange rates started nose-diving from the structural adjustment program (SAP) under Babangida when naira was devalued. Up till this moment of the worst President ever in Nigerian history, Buhari 1$ now equals #480, 1pound is coasting to #700 and euro having a nice time. Sad !!!
Hence the reason it’s called the giant of Africa

I’m so happy for this video, this is evidence that my country Nigeria 🇳🇬 was once a great country and your Dad witness and lived through it. Your Dad is such a nice man and speak from his heart, and also he’s blessed with a beautiful woman, a wife and a mother. As for Nigerian 🇳🇬 politicians they will all die in shame. As a Nigerian living in the United States 🇺🇸 I’m not very proud to call myself a Nigerian because of the stigma attached to that name. Our greedy and self centered politicians have totally destroyed my country for selfish reason but I believe one ☝️ day Nigeria and Africa as a whole will come back stronger by God’s grace. WOW! I was watching the video in which you showcased your dad. If a child shows honour to the dad, he or she receives blessings. I am a Nigerian living in the diaspora and I have the same as your dad, and also have a daughter that lives London and most likely be the same age like you. Seeing both of you together reminds me of my daughter, the kind of affection she gives me whenever she pays us a visit. Kudos 👍 to you.

Very interesting! Your dad has a good attitude to life and even his father did, too, saying “ We are all the same”. I think it’s so interesting hearing about our parent’s thoughts when they were young, their motives, their feelings.

It was watching you and your father connecting that blessed me... if only grown children can sit and communicate with their father on this level, to listen to their heart, It would be a blessing for them, how many yearn for that... May God continue to bless you as you follow through letting your children spend time with him. I’m 77 years and remember going on holidays to visit with my grandparents, it’s good memories locked in, that no one can take away...👏🏽👏🏽💕🙏🏽
I loved this interview with your dad. It's interesting how he wasn't willing to discuss his life initially but eventually opened up. In true African fashion, the elders talk when they're ready to, not when you prompt them to. Lol. You can see how fluid the cultures of West Africa are. Younger West Africans need to learn this from their grandparents. Much respect and truly a learning narrative. Glad to hear Nigeria come up in your family history too. Big ups to Togo.

Your dad is right.I read an article in the national geography, that the Nigerian dream was just like the American dream.so it's painful to see what these vagabonds in power have turn Nigeria into, even Africa as a whole.
An entire generation of Pan African minded intellectuals were destroyed by political instability, targeted repression and violent upheavals. Africa is just recovering.

The best thing you are doing is learning about your roots and allowing your kids to learn and embrace their roots. I would like to learn about my African roots but have no idea where to start due to slavery. But I am definitely going to start with Ghana. One of my dearest friend is from Ghana and am hoping to plan a trip with her sometime next year. God bless!
If you dont have african parents or an African American then you can start with DNA test. Iam sure the result can help tell you where in Africa you come from.

I am a Cameroonian based in the USA, the football history is on point. The match btw Cameroon & Argentina made FIFFA to increase the number of African teams to the world cup from 5 to 7 .
That's heavily false! Africa is still represented by five countries in the world cup. It was only different when South Africa hosted, and we had one extra because South Africa the host should qualify automatically by default.

After the Cameroonian exploits it was increased to 3. Later we gained 2 more slots when the number of countries participating in the world cup finals was increased.

Ana, your sentiments about the language are very valid. My children are of mixed ethnic backgrounds, and it is very challenging to speak the native language with them subconsciously because their dad only speaks English. So they speak English as their main language because of school, their dad etc. it’s so much easier and automatic and default to speak English with them. There is no one else to reinforce the native language unfortunately. It was my intention to teach them but hasn’t worked out. Cut dad some slack 😜
