This works on all BMW X3 models at least. Could be similar on X5 and X7.
This is me in real time figuring out the hard way how to change the battery.
It still took me only 30 minutes total to do it by myself.
You can save yourself a lot of money just swapping it out and not paying any mechanics.
Once you know how to replace it it would take you maybe 15 minutes. Any mechanic no more than 10.
But the labor for doing it yourself is FREE.

My 2014 X3 purchased in 2013 still has the original battery. I can’t believe that the battery has never failed in the past 10 years and 9+ months.
You are lucky. But I’m sure less electric devices draining it. The BMW connected in the app is probably part of it. Always online.
You need to tell the computer that there is a new battery with a scan tool, otherwise the computer will treat this as the old battery and might overcharge.
I also have the 105ah battery in mine - If I replace with an exact OEM BMW 105ah do I still need to code it?

@@mazz1557 yes, the computer adjust the charge to follow battery degradation over time so coding is required
As below, you need to register the new battery with the cars BMS or the battery will be overcharged leading to premature failure. Otherwise nice installation video the vent tube on the end of the battery is for any hydrogen discharge that might occur.
Couple things, original battery is an H9 type, the replacement is an H8. The new battery needs to be registered (to tell the car that a new battery has been installed), and coded (to tell the car that the replacement battery is not 105aH).
My 2019 X3 also has a second smaller battery under the hood. It is used for accessories, not for cranking the engine, but it also needs to be replaced at some point.
I have a 2019 X3 M40i (only 32K miles), but am going on 6 years with original battery, but have had to recondition once because I left the parking lights on (stupid, I know!). I plan to replace it later this year before the next winter season 👍🏻 Cost to replace by dealership is about $550 (with taxes). Well worth it IMHO as this installation process is too complex for my dummy hands.

No cranking over. All electronics were just not responding. It had 0 power completely.
