- Back out yesterday to do three more tops from my Peak 75 list...Things didn't quite go to plan as i was unable to bag one of the hills as i was not willing to trespass onto private land...Never mind, still manage two more.
The peak 75 is a list of hills/places in the Peak district national park that i have compiled for my own pleasure, allowing me to get out into this beautiful area and tick them off, a few are popular with walkers while most are rarely walked. Some i have visited many times and others that i had never heard of until i made this list...the ever growing list of places already visited are listed below...fancy a challenge? Thank you friends for sharing this very beautiful and very calming video
....And thank you Erik for watching and commenting
So glad weather cleared …😊
Thanks Ruth...i was glad too.
That’s another amazing walking trail 👍. The scenery is cool even if foggy. Have a great weekend.
Thanks my friend
Indeed, the last minute weather changes are rather frustrating indeed. As I used to say to my students, every failure is a learning opportunity...what would you change, how could it have been different...and if a student was honest and tool the conversation to heart they would be given a pass...many great lessons were learned. But really, none in as beautiful location as yours! Great place indeed!! We're in for about a week of rain, but we really do need it. It really turned out to be a marvelous day for us watching! Thanks for the adventure!
Thanks Bruce...you are right the weather has been rather frustrating lately.
Great video & well done for sticking with it., we should all try & go out & enjoy the outdoors in all weather’s for the joy it brings along with the fresh air and exercise. Thanks looking forward to seeing the next! (No pressure! 😊) ❤️xx
Thanks Sylvia...yes i go out in all weather...Don't expect this for june though..Cheers Steven
Stunning ! Beautiful fog, I like it. Thank you for sharing❤
Thanks for watching
Can't take a dry day for granted at all this year. I know the feeling!
You are right Michael...Thanks for watching mate.
You are certainly steaming through these Stephen. Pity about missing that one, but like you say, private land. There is plenty more to pick off. It seems you have had my summer hiking weather, too. Thanks for sharing, and I'm looking forward to the next one.
Steaming through them????...seems like they are taking forever..thanks for watching pal
❤ Failure is no shame you braved the elements respected privacy and made a brilliant video Kudos!💖💖
Thanks David.
Looks like an amazing walk :-) who have to love the British weather 🙂
Thanks Cara...it was a cracking walk despite the weather
Good job sticking at it mate. No such thing as bad weather just the wrong clothing. Outdoors is always better than indoors. Except maybe the pub. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️
I certainly had wrong clothing for this walk...it just go's to show, you can never rely on the weather.
Another excellent video. And some familiar views. Some great hills over Goyt Valley Way. 👌
Cheers..it's a lovely area.
Done well there mate 👌 its always good to get out though eh 👍👍
Thanks Glyn...it sure is
I could watch your videos all day long!
Thanks...thats real kind of you.
Too bad, you could not get up that one, but still a beautiful hike.
Thanks Leon...2 more done...that will do for me..
I know what you mean about the weather. One day of summer then more like back to early spring/winter again. We snatch what ever nice days arrives !! Sympathise with your feelings Steven. The terrain of Windgather Rocks looked formidable but impressive in all that mist. You looked warmly wrapped up!🙂
Thanks Shanita...it's raining here again this morning...we did have a couple of nice days earlier in the week...hope that wasn't summer.
We had 4 real nice summer days this week but back to rain and 14C yesterday and today and forecasting showers every day for the next 2 weeks in the lakes - unbelievable! Fair play to you getting out and in shorts too, with the weather getting slightly better throughout the walk, cheers Alan
Thanks Alan...i think summer came and went this week.
Great video and good.to see you out in all weather's. Shame about the private land. I'd have been tempted trespass but I am big advocate of right to roam but respect that you didn't. You really are cracking through these 75!!!
Thanks Stuart...appreciate he feedback
Some lovely summer weather there Steven! Looks quite atmospheric in the wet mist! Watch those slippy edges! Nice walk on the Cheshire/derbyshire border! Asking for it walking down windgather road! Shorts on? 😱 clearing up? Great spot of urban exploring! Id be tempted to stay in there until it cleared up! Sounds like a helpful farmer. Shame about the stretch of private land, we’ll miss that one and throw in a substitution! Lovely looking valley, wagon something or other hill! Shining Tor standing proud! Love the sound of the skylarks. The sun really is trying to break through! Keep those fingers crossed! It really did brighten up at the end.
Ahh yes summer weather...been Roasting here today...not great for bakery work
Our Oliver wanting to do Windgather Rocks, looks a minter! Great that you have a subs bench ready!
Windgather rocks are perfect...they say it's where so many Climbers start out
Great trip in weather we also have here often. Beauteful scenery and a bit spokey house there. Good the weather improved. Greetings 👍😊
Thanks Sunworshiper...appreciate the comment
Another great video mate , we all fail at some point but your still out there doing it ....never give up 👍
Cheers mate...yeah just keep going.
Opening rant in the car made us smile…we’ve all done it…
Let’s hope the substitute turns out to be your favourite…Great video
Thanks Folks...Yes the substitute looks like being a little cracker
Another fine video Steve, pity about the weather, camped there as a lad with the boys brigade many years ago, fernilee reservoir, windgather rocks and Jenkins chapel, to name a few of the landmarks
Cheers mate..it sure is a lovely area
Brilliant start Steve a good old rant in the car 😂love out like this class you still got out and smashed them for all shame about the private land lol I could see the look there and let's just not mention it eh I no rules are there to be broken but got to respect the the private parts for all I've asked in some and never been refused as they knew it was a honest ask and the sun there at then end lol 😂class
Thanks Butchy...yeah i like a good old rant !!!
Goodness me, I felt your pain there Steve! I had it very similar a little while ago climbing one of the mountains in the Brecon beacon and was soaked through. Mind you that was late winter early spring so absolutely no need of it this time of year.- 🤷🏻♂️😡
Sad to see that abandoned cottage looked really old by the look of the slates on the roof 👍
Like you say Phil...no need for this weather at this time of year...i was glad i found that wooly hat in the boot of the car
Impressive views 👍
Thanks mate...
Nice one mate - two more bagged - shame about the third but just not worth it especially as there were people about.
And Andrew's Edge ended up as one of the best!. So very much worth the squelching!
Bizzare gas pipeline on the top but when the Sun came out, very beautiful indeed!!
Thanks Dave...yeah not keen on Trespassing...lots of people do it but it gives walkers a bad name....cheers mate.
This video was taken in June I guess. Not very nice weather but nice view and so much green landscape. The weather is the same for us in Vancouver. Have a good summer ( hopefully it will come eventually) !!!
Thanks France...yes typical English weather while the rest of Europe roasts...thinking about it "i prefer our cooler weather"
Oh I do love Windgather Rocks - as a name and as a place!
As you say, not worth the Agro with trespassing. Especially on here, where it can provoke a frothing debate!
A frothing debate...i love that.
Another great video. Not been over there to the west, looks definitely worth the effort. You were unlucky with the wether; summer in Sheffield this weekend - sun and blue sky.
Cheers...This was Saturday, just shows how the weather changes in such a short distance...i live in Doncaster...the weather here is beautiful this evening
A ‘beautiful’ summers day for hiking 😊 Nice video 👍
Ha Ha...yes another beautiful summers day.
Not the best weather for you but always good to get out. It does make you feel better. Even though you had a change of plan it looked great with all the beautiful scenery and that bit of blue sky was wonderful. Hopefully you are getting better weather this weekend. It's been warm and sunny here. Enjoyed your walk. Thank you for taking us with you. Best wishes Dave and Dawn♥
Thanks Dave and Dawn...glad you could come along for the walk.
Great walk Steven and no matter what the weather forecast says, always pack your rain gear. Shame about not getting that top but I think I’d have gone for it, you can’t beat a good old bit of trespassing, its due to people who did take on the land owners by trespassing that we have the freedom to roam now. Resist much, Obey little. Cheers Mike 👍
Not one for trespassing...we have more than enough places to walk without breaking laws...yeah i was not happy about the weather [ does it show ]...thanks Mike
Ey up me duck
Another two down fella, bet you're glad you pushed through that crappy weather and still went.
Ay a good week me owd. 🙂👍
Yeah..i nearly said F**k it at the start...glad i kept going...cheers pal
Oh, what a summer. You are in the rain and we are frying at almost 40°C /104°F. Otherwise, nice hiking. 👍👍
Yeah the weather was not great...an improvement this week though with temps in the high 20's...That's hot enough for me
Things don't always go to plan. A few weeks I went out to do a top and took the wrong path and completely messed up the walk- I decided not to load that one up to youtube! I was miffed 😆
Ha Ha..done that a few times.
The weather’s been pretty shit hasn’t it? But on the plus side the views you had towards Shining Tor from Andrew’s Edge were incredible- all the low cloud makes it visually much more impressive than clear blue skies.
You are right of course...who needs blue skies?..
That's not a fail...private land cannot be helped...If you got caught that would be a fail...I know the area well obviously cos of Goyt Valley and some of those farmers can be a bit of a job's worth and they have a lot of trouble with off roaders and motor bikes from the Macclesfield side...don't matter though cos you have a substitute in mind...I thought you may have taken the slabbed path from Windgather to Shining first but still a circular which ever way round...See you on the next one Steven, enjoyed it...Cheers Les.🙂👍
Afternoon Les...you hear a lot about disgruntled farmers, after walkers knock down walls or cut through Barbed wire to reach a top...i don't want to be part of that. I wouldn't like to think that i gave walkers a bad name.....we are lucky too have so many places to walk without breaking the law....I might look and sound a bit grumpy on this one but i really enjoyed the day...it's a special area...Cheers Steven
Probably not a good idea to trespass and have it on camera and then post it😁
Were you all by yourself the whole time out there or where there other hikers that you passed?
Beautiful countryside out there😀
Hi Age...i was by myself most of the walk..only saw a couple of walkers ...a bit busier on the slabbed path back though...yeah..i am not going to trespass....you wouldnt want anyone walking through your garden would you ?
@@atrampinthehills.841 no, I would not. Now if they asked me, then I may consider it😃
That’s another amazing walking trail 👍. The scenery is cool even if foggy. Have a great weekend.
Thanks, you too!
