Thx for showing how exiting and frustrating sword fishing can be, but we love it. Here in the NE of the US we travel 100 miles to get to the sword grounds and go through the same experience. We personally put the light at least 30 ft away from the bait to prevent the sword wacking it with his bill and use 100 ft of 200# leader connected to a 6ft 300# leader with the bait.

Hey mate, thanks for watching and dropping us a comment all the way from the US. I have heard of that technique, I haven’t had any lights come up with bill marks but that’s not to say they do whack the lights. Thanks for the tips 👌

Damn, put some drag to set this hook! Don't let it go like that. Keep faith !!

Hey mate, just wondering what rod holders you have in your 17 that you sold. Trying to work out how I’m going to set up my 17 for deep dropping and sword stuff similar to you. What did you find that worked and what would you change? Thanks man

Hi Jake, I used some from BCF because they only just fit on the top of the gunwales. I have seen someone who makes stainless rod holders for the V17L and they look rock solid. They advertised them on the old school Haines hunter page on Facebook.
