I drove a 2019 X1 loaner for a few days while my 2020 X3 M40i was getting delivered to my dealer. My biggest complaint was the driving position and there was no where to lean my driver leg on to rest during longer drives. So my leg constantly got the dead leg feeling after only 5-10 mins. I didn't know if it was a BMW thing so it scared me a bit when I got my X3. But when I sat in my X3 it was super comfortable with only minor adjustments needed. When I inquired to the BMW genius walking me through my X3 he even agreed and said he doesn't know why the X1 is so uncomfortable. So highly encourage you guys to see if you can get a comfortable position if you're looking at this car. As for the X3 M40i, the 382HP goodness is second to none, highly recommend!

I got a ‘17 X1 for my wife, and she loves it. We got it off lease with 14k miles for over 20k off MSRP. It has almost the same interior space as the X3 which is great. My one “zonk” would be the seats..they took me a while to find a comfortable position, and they aren’t nearly as comfortable as what I have in my SQ5. Other than that, I’d highly recommend this car!

Great review. One comment on the automatic transmission. It is an 8-speed Steptronic automatic manufactured by Aisin (AWF8F35) as standard from 2016 to 2017, and sDrive20i models receive a Steptronic 7-speed DCT (similar to the 2018-up sDrive18i) from 2018 onwards, while the rest of the range still gets the same 8-speed Steptronic automatic.
Great review as always, i the reason I’m watching this video is because today some guy in a BMW X-1 wanted to race my Fiesta ST, so I obliged him, beat him by a car length to 80 and I was pulling him, never under estimate the Fiesta Flash. 🤙🏼🍺
Transmission is an Asin AWF8F35. ZF is not the transversal transmission provider of BMW. ZF provides longitudinal 8 speeds to BMW group. Facts can make or break a review.
It's not a ZF 8 speed auto. It's an Aisin built 8 speed. The longitudinally configured ZF 8 speed would not fit. The Aisin is built for transverse applications.
The rear painted bumper isn’t protected from getting nicked and scratched while loading cargo. If you actually haul anything expect your pretty paint to be the worse for wear in short order. A protective trim piece over the paint on the bumper top sure would have been welcomed.
