Great job! Finally someone doing this right! The only thing I would not do is remove the ABS pickup from the hub. They are prone to not read right after removal. I would unplug the electrical connection at the frame and remove the harness with the spindle.

    Hello Gibson Garage,
Liked your video and learned. Recommend when going to press using parts from the ball-joint kit and old bearing races to get better bottom and top press points. Even a socket is good vs using press on top of ball joint to avoid possible "explosion" under pressure.
    Cheers,
    Mr. P

I’d suggest renting a slide hammer and cv axle pulled from Auto Zone. My son did that and didn’t have a super hard time getting the axle out. He was working that hammer for a few min tho.

Took a black bungee and wrapped it around the cb shaft and hooked the ends to the knuckle so it was pulling in the cb axle and then twisted the axle until it found the spot it wanted and it popped right out….I’d been prying on it for an hour and gave up and tried the bungee and it worked

This is very helpful and detailed vid from the start to finish up the job. Do you need to lock in 4WD by switching to "4H" (4 high) before the job begins? I own a 4WD TB 2004 LT and it has about 250,000 miles and there is a leak similar to the problem /issue that you had. Thanks,

Is the seal supposed to be flush? I cannot hammer mine in anymore. Sticks out like 1mm or less. But no leaks though.

Yes it should be flush but if it's not leaking

Was the old one flush before it came out? They're are little metal fingers on the seal that need to be lined up with the adjuster before tapping in the new seal.

Is there a need to lock in 4WD or it does not matter?
