Who Broke The Lock (On The Hen House Door)? - Clawhammer Banjo

Any song that I get to unabashedly sing with my native Texas, country drawl is a good song! Gotta love banyard songs! I goofed up the ending a little, but it was 103F and I don't like having my rodless Goodtime outside very much during the day, haha.
Also, I have clipped these strings now; my eyeballs are safe! ;)

Sounds good. Been looking at getting a open back banjo,to try my hand at claw hammer banjo. Noticed that you have a Goodtime banjo. Can you tell me what and where to find one?

Thanks! I love my Goodtime! They're very widely available as far as open back banjos go, although a lot of physical music shops don't have big selections on open backs (if they have any at all). You can purchase them on any major online music retailer (Sweetwater, MusiciansFriend, Guitar Center, eBay, etc.).
I personally purchased mine for $300 on Facebook Marketplace. Admittedly, it was a pretty good deal (especially for showing no signs of wear), but Goodtimes do come up used a lot online because a lot of people buy it as a starter banjo and either decide that they don't want to continue learning banjo, or decide that they want to upgrade to something different.

@@StanleyWaltsBanjo thanks for your reply.I had an expensive Gibson for Scrugg style playing. I did that for a couple years, but never really enjoyed the fact of having to always put on picks. It also weighed a thousand pounds, so I sold it and thought I may like this better.

@@darrengarlough5121 Oh yeah, I'd say absolutely go for it! That would likely make a massive difference. That accessibility is key! I find that the easier I make it to pick up a banjo around the house or take one with me on the road, the more likely I am to practice.
I used to play ukulele waaay more than guitar despite enjoying guitar more. And that was simply because ukuleles were just right there, they didn't take any time to set up, I didn't need a strap, just instantly ready to go.
As a more recent example, I don't play my nicest banjo anywhere nearly as much as my others because it lives in a hardshell case in the livingroom while the others are on a stand. Just that little 10 second setup time savings results in hours more practice with the other ones, haha.
Frequent practice (not even necessary long practices) is the key to gaining consistent skill with an instrument. :)

Hello! I have been practicing Scruggs style, but I am still pretty novice with it and I haven't seen or heard any Scruggs style arrangements for this song in particular. I do hope to put some 3-finger banjo songs on the channel before too terribly long, though.
