    I love your library! Alas, I converted 90% of my library into a digital format when I sold my 3-BR house ten years ago. Hopefully, my old books are being enjoyed by new readers.

    This is quite a library you have.
    I have 3 guest rooms in my new old house. I recently purchased some revolving book towers and snapped them together, 1 for each guest room. I've sorted my books by interests based on who most likely will stay in the guest room. So books I think my little sister might like go in the pink room, books I think my older sister (who let me mooch off her last summer during my move) go in the teal room, and books with a more masculine interest go in the master room where if I ever have male guests or couples go in the large master room with the faux fireplace.
    I don't book shelves in my bedroom, just a small night stand to hold the currently reading book(s). Downstairs in the living room I have a large tall book shelf that has my James clavell series, and other random travel books and the pair of 4' book shelves in my library/office currently holds a mish mash of office junk that will be purged as my book collection grows. The library also came with a built in bookshelf with a glass door and some random old books, in that book shelf, I've added my Bible collection and cookbooks I got from my mother's estate.

      I have seen those rotating shelves. Glad they are working for your space. And I like how you curated what to put on each one. That's awesome.

    You did a great job with your bookshelves. I would organize mine the same way. I know rainbow shelves look pretty but they're not very practical. It would be so hard to find anything. And it would drive me nuts to not have books by the same author together or break up series books.
    It is such a cozy, lovely room. I would love spending time curled up with a good book in that room! Enjoy the lovely space you've created!

      Crazy to me that some of my shelves, well really just middle grade, are double stacked. I love a lot of books, but that does seem excessive! haha. Eventually I'll get one more white one for my middle grade shelf too and then hopefully I can avoid that double stacking.

    Enjoyed the tour and learning a bit about your trabels and what you collect! Sad to learn you lost a sister and neice (think I remember you mentioning the sister passing before). I lost my 30 year old nepjew during lockdown (not from covid) and so hard to lose young people. Awesome Newberry collection! Oh and I have the read folded pages book...so cool. I love it, or them! Wish I had more room to have more shelves. In almost finished setting up. I am still working on "how", but in general I have a section for historical fiction, a section pertaining to Auschwitz, both fiction and non fiction. My memoirs/biographies/true events are together. A section of true crimes. A fantasy shelf, I was surprised how many of those I had, lol. BOTM books are together, and the rest are just on shelves because I was getting anxious to get finished! Hardbacks are pushed back with paperbacks in front. Those are ones I want to read, but not a top priority and are on an upper shelf. I did the same with a lower shelf, but ones I have a desire to read, although a major mood reader. And during all that I pulled books off that I will be selling and books that I will be using for Litte Free Library swaps, oh yeah, and books I'm giving my daughter. In certain areas, I did keep authors of books together like Susan Meissner... I do have a cart that were suppose to be read this year, with certain goals, but it's been a crazy year, especially starting with that hip surgery, so that flopped. Once I get next years goals I'm sure things will change, lol. I'm si happy your happy with your shelves. I had reached a point when I had the previous shelves and there was no order, but I did know what was where, lol. Ok I've had a beyond stressful morning and you definitely lightened my mood. Have a great day!

  • @michellegleave2550
    @michellegleave2550 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love it! My only question is how do you slot in new books? Do they all have to move if you purchase a pile of books and the author’s last name begins with G? (For example)… just curious about that side of it because we all haul so many books each month. Such a lot of work went into this though Krista but at the same time I can imagine it was a joy to do!

      I keep all my read BOTM together in the other room and unread together in this room. I only keep author stacks together if I have a ton from that author. I have quite a few authors where I have one in my tbr room and another out on my read shelves in my living room.
