This new DLC looks super neat. I like how the ONI team keeps expanding the dupe's worlds in interesting ways.

I for one am definitely gonna buy said DLC if it's gonna go on sale
I really like how this dlc seems to be about building a base that functions in super cold temps as opposed to trying to heat the whole map up, gives you a lot of alternative low temp solutions and materials like cinnabar that you want to keep cold. Could definitely shake up a lot of the early game designs that have been more or less solved.
Cinnabar ore? Cinnabar, the mineral that contains mercury? They've had mercury in the game but unused for years from what I remember, must be they finally added it then.
Gonna be interesting having a refined metal that liquefies if you so much as look at it wrong.
BonBon Gourd: they look like they use the same mechanic as trees, so they probably wont grow correctly if they are next to each other. IIRC trees basically needed two spaces between each other.
Also the wood burner being 25g/s is 15kg/day of wood (600 seconds per ONI-day)
EDIT: fixed wood burner amounts being off by 10x

Dupes really playing with fire casually handling cinnabar for their metal ore needs.
I'm so excited to see more ONI! Please bring this on as a new series. Lots of interesting new struggles for the poor little dupes. :) I can't wait!
Always avoid duplicates with the stress reaction of vomit. It just causes problem you don't need. DLC looks fun.
stress reactions are a non issue if you can manage stress. also, in the new frozen planetoid, the vomit will probably just freeze over lol
Stress vomiting is one of my go-tos (after the crier), no downside except free p-water? Much better than destructive or stress eater

I agree, really changes the way you play, which I like 👍
When you place the woodburner it shows the range of "heat bonus". Of course it slowly increases the ambient room temp, but untill room is really warm, dupes in range are warmed.
Awesome --- a freezing biome to enjoy in a heat wave!

Love how when Klei releases a Beta for testing, it's of a better quality than when Paradox release a full game after 5 years of developement.

I mean, I may be a bit harsh, but it really seems that way to me.
In my personal opinion, Stellaris is way worse than 5 years ago, wars are extremely boring and tedious and probably every other part of the game is.
The only good thing is the extra content, but at the price of the game being a tedious mess

It's nothing but an handicap for the player, making the game even more tedious to achieve the same thing.
I doubt I will ever go back to this game.

@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines One of the best hinga I like about CS2, was it made you realise I can branch out again, and play games and content you want to make. Don't get me wrong, I really want to see CS2 succeed, I honestly think in about a year times it will. But for now. Loving all the different content. Reminds me of your other channel and the brilliant Dyson Sphere. Haha. I'm still praying you come back to that game. Haha.
Some tips:
1. Initially, get "Immune to chilly surroundings" duplicands only.
2. Don't clean the floors! The debris will keep the area cool.
3. Start ranching early. Floxs and Bammoths are amazing.
4. Ignore the wood heater. Use the wood for ethanol instead.
5. Alveo Veras are very efficient, get a bunch! It will take care of your carbon dioxide.
6. Mercury will make a mess. Save all the solid mercury in a cool area.

Love that they have made a "cold" issue...seems like keeping the world from overheating was the issue in the previous worlds...now to have a cold world you need to "warm" is a nice change...can't wait to see more!

It was something I'd kinda noticed on my own playthrough but later found some of the more mathy youtubers proved it with numbers. It produces less calories than the dupe labor put in. The musher is really only viable for fruitcake...I mean berry sludge.

As soon as you can dig you can go straight for the sleet wheat & frost buns, skip the nasty mush bars entirely

yea skip the mush bars but the pikeapple plant is great at the start, just needs phosphorite, of which there is plenty, and you can put them in a Flox ranch in order to get your wood sustainable. you can complete the process in time by ranching the bammoth and getting sustainable source of phosphorite, plus your reed fiber :)

Try to avoid Unconstructive and Non-digging dupes, not because of Idling, but because they are exasperatingly, hair-pullingly good at trapping themselves by starting a project they may not be able to finish. It's not unusual where by the time the game warns you a Dupe is Trapped or Idling, it's too late.
The Compost Pile can be a good source of heat, but the Dupes will probably want the Deodorizer first!

I'm on cycle 40 and i havent got a bonbon gourd yet, or seen the seal critter, those seem to be a better source of wood. but i found you can make sustainable wood with a ranch of 8 flox and a ranch of 4 bammoth. need to get the ethanol distiller going to make it work

I mean at -30C even pwater freezes.
Also, is the sink necessary? Does food poisoning survive these cold temperatures! (Haven’t got time to look it up. Heh)

Just tried it out myself. At the very start you might be fine without a toilet but, it doesn't take too long for the average temperature in the main area of the base to be more like -20 at which the p water doesn't freeze. The cold does kill the germs but it is a bit slow, so i have had a few food poisonings already even with a sink. Haven't seen new germs yet.
