Canadair/Bombardier. Mr. Bombardier's tracked snow machine wasnt ready in time, when his daughter had a medical emergency and needed to be transported during a big snow storm, if only his invention had been ready in time, they could have transported her. Bombardier was a genius when it came to making snow machines.
The only reason this plane made it to production was thanks to a 50/50 deal with the government of Quebec and a deal between France and Canada to place orders for the initial batch of planes if Canada would order 10 executive plane from France. Couldn't imagine how much worse these fires would be if that coalition never came to fruition.

Yeah it's funny how most of us are best friends and allies, but the media and a few orange puppets and billionaires can try and make it seem otherwise!!
Well, it's not war, and in case of an engine failure you can drop 6 tons of weight in 10 seconds. I grant you pulling up hard to avoid the hills at the far side of the lake would be a nasty moment. When you want 4 engines, there were the Martin Mars fire bombers. But with their age (they are practically from WW II) they are probably not safer.
These old airplanes are build to be robust, specially these types with propellors that might also touch salty waters. Its really uncommon for one of these engines to stop working, let alone having both engines dead. These aircrafts are well capable of flying on 1 engine and they are even able to hold the water weight and get the plane flying level. Then they have the time to asses the situation and dump water is needed. The main aspect they need to keep in mind is that the climb angle will be a lot less steep on 1 engine with lots of weight. As long they are cleared from any obstacles right in front of them , they will be well able to maneuver this airplane on 1 engine with weight on board.
Thanks to all the great teachers that taught the engineers to build and design these planes and the experienced teacher that taught the pilots to be so skilled and brave to do their job. Thank you.
The pilots and the designers of these planes are second to none. Loved learning about them on the Business Insider videos here on TH-cam. Nice footage! Thank you for uploading it!

You mean CL215T, which was the retrofit version of the CL215 propeller a/c. The CL215T introduced the Turbine version. Them came the production version of the turbine model. The CL415 in the early 90's.
This isn't California, it's Italy. Back in 2021 France and Greece were providing firefighting aircraft to Italy following an appeal for help in taming fires raging across parts of Sardinia that forced hundreds of people from their homes. The primary users of this 415 are Vigili del Fuoco (Italy) Sécurité Civile (France) Hellenic Air Force (Greece) Service Aérien Gouvernemental
Well it's obvious to me it's not California. I suppose people assume it's California because of the fires happening. Idk. Hearing the language and seeing the terrain I thought not the US. Thanks for the information.
Watching from Zlatni Rat (Golden Cape) beach, Island of Brač, Croatia how three CL-415's swoop not a kilometer from the beach, skoop water, climb steeply and dump it on a forest fire on the slopes of the mountain above the town, with cycle time of perhaps three minutes, was absolutely incredible.
It's what makes flying-boats extremely potent firefighters, they can refill and be back on the job so fast that the fire has little chance to advance before they can hit it again
@@UNSCPILOT Exactly. There are some awesome videos floating around here (e.g. by the channel called "edostuff" - I don't know am I allowed to post direct link) of CL-415 action along Croatian coast, complete with beachgoers waving at pilots driving those fantastic machines close enough that you can actually see the crew. They are being built again, in the guise of the slightly modernized guise of CL/DHC-515. My Croatia is adding two of those to six CL-415s the dedicated squadron of our air force already operates. Greece has 7 on order, EU further 22 for member states that need them. It is very fortunate that this marvelous aircraft survived the faltering of Bombardier (through Viking Air and De Havilland Canada)..
In 1970, I was standing at the top of a ski race course at (then) Squaw Valley, now Paradise, when a fighter jet flew by at eye level, close enough we could see his helmet! It was all so sudden, & loud that it scared my teammate, Debbie Dutton, a real cutie, who then leapt reflexively into my arms! All aspects of their flying skills are just beyond amazing!
The only pilots who are allowed to pull crazy shit like this. Any other pilot would be grounded including in the military. Very unique job they have
Fought wildfires for 7 years as a smoke eating ground pounder. Never worked directly with these particular planes, but have seen many skilled pilots (both helo and fixed-wing) doing their thing in the worst conditions possible and putting it all out there to help those on the ground to get control of a fire…..Just the most respect and gratitude to ALL of the brave people that head towards the flames to confront these disasters. Well said my friend
Admiration for the pilots, and engineers who designed this plane
I send my love and thanks to Canada and in particular, that pilot for sending/coming to help in amazing ways. We apologize for the ignorant individual who decided to fly a drone in your path. -A grateful Californian

Vigili Del Fuoco ! Don’t sound very Canadian to me 🙂↔️
@@schmeisserS4f Eh no... Direi più Italia
I was shocked that these planes didn't have 4 engines.
These pilots are incredibly skilled and very brave.
@@feedingravens3 secs. They drop their entire load in 3 seconds. 😉
@@TheGremlinsParadise some of these might be old CL-215 radials that were converted to CL-215 turboprops (not saying this one in particular)

It's what these aircraft were designed to do. Many CL-415 pilots are former military pilots & were trained in offensive & defensive maneuvers.
Or current military pilots, aerial firefighting in croatia is done by our air force, and canadur pilots are experienced ones, usually the rank of a major, lt colonel or sometimes even a full bird colonel, and we are far from being the only country in europe where water bombers are a part of the national aur force, in some countries they are under the ministry of the interior like firefighting in general, only in some countries they are in private companies.
