Ey up Ricky! Your lessons are all fantastic, I've learned more theory for guitar in the last few days aftder stumbling uon your videos than I have in 20 years playing (and i went to music university) more clear, consisce, fun and informative than any class I've had. Proper job mate nice one!
I have struggled mightily to understand 7th chords and I was so going this lesson was going to show me the light but no such luck. All your other lessons have opened so much of the fretboard for me Ricky. I'm at my wit's end here though. Just don't seem to get 7th chords at all😔
Always love to learn new chords. I've been working on the fingerpicking technique you taught in another video. I'm gonna sit down and see what these sound like using that. Appreciate the lesson!
@@rickysguitar I watched the Grid awhile back and printed out the great pdf you did with it. Major minor minor Major Major Minor Diminished repeat octave. A 1 4 5 progression. 1 4 5 are the Major chords and 2 3 6 are the minor chords because every major must have a minor. I’m blind in my right eye so your teaching method seems like it’s handcrafted just for me. I can watch the video, study the pdf, apply to guitar and then watch video and pdf as needed. I really do appreciate it and I hope people do send you tips because every lesson is an oh ha moment.
Awesome lesson! Had to watch it 4 or 5 times, and sometimes slowly to thoroughly understand it. Just goes to show how packed it is with useful stuff. Brilliant, thanks Ricky.
I’m in bed , no guitar in hand, but this is exactly what I’ll be getting under my fingers tomorrow. This is the kind of stuff you see the pros use all the time. From here I can figure out the A, D, C and G shapes,… but is there a cheat videos with those as well? L
Eyup Frank! How clued up are you generally with the CAGED system? All 4 of the shapes I demonstrate are E shapes, but they sound different from each other. They're super useful so don't give up on them. Ignore the theory and download the PDF and just play the shapes. Hopefully as you go up the neck you'll hear you are playing all the chords (harmonised as 7th chords) in the key of E Major
@@rickysguitar Thanks, RIcky, I have just about every theory book there is including all the Bruce Emery books, David Mead, Alfred, etc but that one just eluded me, sorry, guess it's me!
@@frankm2588 It always disturbs me if I miss my target. I'm sorry about that buddy. Humour me and try the shapes out individually and I'll have a think how I can come at this at a different angle.
@@rickysguitar -I should have been more specific, sorry, you give away so much, I'm sorry to hurt your feelings! Actually I did watch and take notes on the"This is How Guitar George Knew All the Chords,"(7/16) and the Building Chords one with the mnemonic of Every Good Band... which was very helpful, so I am familiar with the "5-R-3." I just felt that in this one early on you went fast with showing the fingers , right around 1:40, as to which fingers were which, so I found it hard to follow. So I saw what the chords were but found it hard to follow the "from... to the 7th chord."That's all. Thanks again. In general, I do save the PDF's in my "Ricky File" on the computer and often print them out and mark them up. I'd recommend that all students do that! Now I get it, these were all 7th chords, Dom and Maj 7th and Minor 7ths.
@@frankm2588 No feelings hurt at all here Frank! Maybe it was the edit and I could have included a bit more foundational info. Keep watching! I'll come back with something that'll pull it back for you :)

Great class. I need to watch it a few more times. Thanks Rock n Roll Ricky.
Glad you enjoyed it Daryl! It becomes more powerful when you combine this with the grid! Thank you again for your kind donation sir!

My Hero! Thanks much
This is a good lesson with an informative PDF to help us understand these chords. Thank you for taking the time to make this lesson for us Ricky.

Another great 👍 great lesson Rick you’ve definitely become my favourite TH-cam teacher keep on rocking 🤘🏻🎸🎶
Excellent indeed!
Such lovely sounds Ricky - thanks again! 😉
Wonderful lesson. I guess in a band with bass, keys, another guitar etc., i could leave off the roots and 5ths and just play the 3rds and 7ths.
Does anyone know how to make that great percussive sound at 07:21?
Excellent stuff!
Great lesson Ricky, thank you 😊
Great stuff!
Thank you
It was a good one Ricky, appreciate it.
Hi Rick,I keep getting confused what the 1st chord is and what the 2nd chord etc is, could you please explain. Thanks Al
Wallop!
Played with friends, threw some sevenths in. Guys asked: ”what youve been smoking lately?” Thanks Ricky!
This guy is the dogs danglies, the bees knees and Mr Top Banana all in one, thanks Ricky 😎
Oooer! Thanks for watching Rich!
Some taste of Bossa Nova

I’ll add those shapes to my videos to make list!
idk. good video but, not sure where I'd use these chords?
Jazz and blues tunes! They crop up more than you'd think!
imformative

Super confusing, you really lost me, Ricky.
