      Who do you think came up with the idea of cheerleaders..Im guessing it was women wanting to be somehow involved because there little brother or older brother or boyfriend was playing. But that doesnt mean they want to be objectified and gawked at and treated like hookers!

  • @Taha.E
    @Taha.E 6 ปีที่แล้ว +163

    Jalen hit the nail on the head. The purpose of those cheerleaders is to sell their bodies. Of course they're going to be objectified. The very nature of their job objectifies them. Beadle says this is male problem, but the reality is, if you go into a field where you're selling your body, you should have the expectation that that is what's expected. No one is looking at a cheerleader for her flips, or dancing, unless it's competitive cheering (which is different). By saying this is a problem with men, you're saying that the biological nature of man is wrong. Yes, it's scummy for the Redskins to force them to post topless, but come on, you know that's what people want, the business will obviously take full advantage of that. To say "why do we still have cheer-leading" is a very valid question and shouldn't be dismissed. You don't want people to objectify women, don't put them in a position to be objectified, and get upset when they succeed in their purpose. The issue here isn't men, it's the naive expectation of the nature of your job.

      All of the comments are truthful and aren't negative really. They are making good points, Michelle makes women out to be perfect. I'm all for equality, but come on in this day and age saying that there isn't enough education and awareness on how to treat women, preposterous statement! I go to college in Boston and trust me, there is education about it.

    • @crazytrain111
      @crazytrain111 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ryan Anderson nearly every comment has been about how “they’re cheerleaders and this is what they’re asking for by doing that job.” Just an awful way to think about the world. Nobody should be pressured into something like this, and it happens to women in male dominated businesses a lot more. They had their passports taken from them and then their bosses told them to take off their tops and pose in front of a group of men... I don’t really care what your job is, that’s not okay and nobody should have to feel like they need to do something because their boss told them too. There is no awareness in these comments at all. Nothing but “well their half naked whores dancing for men anyways so who care? And Michelle is a feminist bitch and I hope her show goes off the air.”

    • @timocruz510
      @timocruz510 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Danny Kaleal you're right this isn't just a forgivable act, what these guys did (if true) shouldn't be tolerated. But the way Michelle is talking sounds like women can do no wrong.
      There are shitty Men and Women all over North America. Looking at Macro data in the United States you could easily make a case that Women are more privileged than men. More women are enrolled and graduating post secondary education, more women are being placed in entry level jobs out of post secondary education, and win majority of divorce settlements. Men also have astronomical high rates of suicide and incarceration. Also domestic violence against men is prevalent (although not as much as it is against women) but literally never gets talked about.

    At the end of the day These women have a choice to make. So No or Say Yes. If you manipulated or threatened occupationally which is financially speaking, than they have to voice it. So much of this is subjective.
    I feel America coddles women and excuse them from personal responsibility as we would a child.
    They all had a choice to go along with this topless thing and escorting thing.
    Like ladies take responsibility for yourself and say No. You have a shit tone of following and backing if your authority fires you or demotes you or reprimands you in anyway. Women have full advantage.

    • @sharonska100
      @sharonska100 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesn't it tell you something that these women didn't feel they were able to do that. There's so much pressure on women and girls nowadays to look and dress a certain way. If your full-time job is to be a cheerleader and the Redskins organisation asks you to do something like this, there's a fundamental issue that needs to be addressed.

    Beadle is such a great example of why feminism gets a bad rap. She pretends like half of the adult influences in boys lives aren't women. Last time I checked there's no shortage of public outrage at the way these old billionairs act, news flash - its not because they wren't taught how to treat women, its because when you're rich you don't need to care. She acts like the reason shes on TV isn't because the rich white men at ESPN noticed her pretty face. I can't believe Jalen has to waste his time with this nonsense when he could be doing more Jalen and Jacoby instead.

    Michelle definitely has a valid point. As a man with two daughters I can tell you that getting rid of women from the settings that they're in isn't going to change the fact that little boys need to be taught to be respectful and what it means to be accountable for their actions...

  • @kmf3613
    @kmf3613 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's not just boys who need teaching.. girls are taught from a young age that it's okay to hit boys because they're smaller; they're taught that their emotional abuse is 'cute' and violent outburst just prove your love. There is a lot of poor education toward our youth, to say it is exclusively among one gender is absurd. Won't see that being discussed anywhere though, let alone on a show devoted to sports analysis.

    I cannot believe the ignorance and misogyny that I am seeing from this comment section, and in such overwhelming numbers?! well over half of you spitting out shit like 'its this kind of bullshit feminism thats ruining ESPN' and 'feminism has no place on a sports show'. Well it is literally directly involved with a sports team so shove it up your ass for one. Secondly, if they didn't talk about the kind of sexism and objectification, nothing would ever change or come into the public eye, especially as I know that a lot of avid sports fans watch a lot more sport shows than actual news (I do too). Therefore the only way these issues are gonna get to you is through sports shows like this! And lastly its not like they go on about it all the time, it was one 4 minute segment jesus! Is it that bad that they're trying to raise awareness about sexism in the workplace?! Feminism just means equality for both sexes- stop demonising 'feminist agendas'. *I'M A DUDE BTW*

    What the hell kind of statement was that by the Washington Redskins? It doesn't even address the complaint made public in that story. Their statement could have just read..."The public is STUPID!" What the hell was that statement for? I'm a very strong supporter of women. I believe women should be coaching in the Men sports like the NBA and the NCAA...and every year we go without that being made possible is an indictment of our society and where we are with regards to women's rights and fair representation. We don't have a problem with men coaching women, but we have a problem with women coaching men. You look at some of these sports shows and even the ones with women on them, you notice the female participation is so much lower than the male participation. The women are allowed to ask the questions, but they are not really allowed to give much if any input on the topic...just ask the men the question and then sit there and shut up and look at the men as they answer and act like they are saying something profound, even when in most cases, they aren't making much sense.
    I blame the media for all these problems. We talk about the objectification of women, but, nobody objectifies women more than the MEDIA...and women themselves. For example, when a female celebrity wants to get some PUBLICITY, what does she do? She goes outside and goes to the beach in a bikini, knowing she will be photographed and publicized wearing that bikini. In some cases, they post the images themselves on their social media accounts and the Associated Press will then write a story about it. Ofcourse a few stories down, you will see a story about some woman being sexually abused. Let's be realistic, when these female celebrities want to get some PR, appearing in a sexy bikini is there "go to" move. So, women will put themselves in a position to be objectified, if it benefits them...they will complain about it, if it does not benefit them. This will leave most men utterly confused. As long as there is a profit margin associated with a woman's body, the objectification of women will not stop. Like I said, the MEDIA will post a story about women being abused or mistreated by men in some way and a few stories down, there will be another article about some woman and how sexy she looks in a bikini. This is a problem that I don't really think can be fixed. We can however give women jobs and better representation in the workplace...THAT'S AN EASY FIX...if we as a society really wanted to do that. Unfortunately, there wouldn't be any rich people if there weren't any poor people...white people wouldn't feel special if black people had the same equal rights as them and men wouldn't feel powerful if women could get the same jobs as them. Good luck fixing this MESS!

    2013? I don't want to hear about it now for one you're not required to do anything you have a choice and if those are some of the things they want you to do shame on them but shame on you for waiting five years to speak on it... we have to stop catering to these people in these stories that happened years ago if you were done wrong if you were harassed my heart goes out to you but if you don't speak on the matter in a timely fashion that's your choice and some say they're thinking about their careers they don't want to get blackballed well if that's more important to you you lack certain morals so at that point I can only sympathize with you so much what kind of message are we sending to young people by showing them it's okay to remain silent if speaking up is going to hinder your career I don't support that again if you are harassed or treated unfairly speak now when it happens or forever hold your peace.

    These comments are sickening. Michelle is attempting to speak out on behalf of her fellow women and all I see in the comment section is men attacking her and this show, ignoring the horrifying events that occurred, and flaming this video for not being sports related. Sports and society can and do shape each other. When something like this happens in the world of sports, it is absolutely necessary to address them and condemn the perpetrators. I'm ashamed for you guys that refuse to accept that social responsibility is fundamentally tied to sports, and can't fathom how you would not only ignore and chastise these people for discussing it in a 4 minute video, but actually BLAME THE WOMEN for this treatment because of their involvement in this profession. How dare you. Take a look at yourselves.
