    This is the first good Tips of owning a rabbit video, I've seen.... ever. If you look up on TH-cam "Tips for owning a rabbit" or "Top ten mistakes rabbit owners make" or something like that, a lot of them expect you to be this perfect rabbit owner that let's your rabbit out 24/7, that cleans their litter box twice a day, that makes sure they are not dieing every five minutes, and a lot of them say "If you don't do these things, you are a disgrace". Which is not true. I've had rabbits for 11 years now, and I couldn't agree more with what you said about, "Some day you're going to mess up but it is OK, they're not gonna die!" I love that! There needs to be more loose yet responsible people who owns their rabbits like you!
    Great job!😊

    I love your videos! I got my bunny almost two weeks ago, he's a Mini Lop. He was 8 weeks when I got him and was super friendly... He was hopping onto my lap and hand feeding by the second day, and was litter trained within a week (he's free range inside when I'm home, so gets about six hours in the morning & another three in the evening when I get home from work). Have I just got a super social & confident bunny?!

    my tip would be that if you have a long hair rabbit- definitely DEFINITELY brush them every day and don't get lazy with it- and brush everywhere including chest and near the tail, etc. 6 months ago i took my rabbit to the vet to get shaved cause she had so many clumps of hair since i didn't brush her very much. they had to put her under anesthesia and it took 2 sessions to get everything done and it was EXPENSIVE. doing it again next weekend cause i left for 5 months and the person caring for my rabbit didn't brush her and she once again has huge clumps... brush your rabbit!!! btw, her name is rosie too :)

    I don’t agree with the first one my rabbit was surrounded to me at 9 weeks old and she is already litter boxed trained for pee and she loves people so much she looks for me to pick her up and take her to cuddle because she hops into my hand. She is a special girl.

    • @MusicalMissCapri
      @MusicalMissCapri 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The new bunny will be getting used to the environment and to you. That should give you time to get a playpen for when it is more used to you and ready to have out of cage time. Good luck with your new rabbit.

    Oh ma gad. Your eyes and nails look gorgeous in this video! I cannot find a litter that doesn't stick to my lionheads fur... Even newspaper or pine pellets do stick a bit. They usually fall off as she hops around her pen but it causes her pen to become dirty much quicker then my mini Rex's pen.

    • @MusicalMissCapri
      @MusicalMissCapri 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, I understand about that since my bunny is a lionhead too. It just means I need to pay daily attention to the extra fur that is prone to collecting cage debris and work it out with my hands or cut out what can't be.

      your bunny might be shy or nervous. if they think a predator is nearby or there is a lot of noise, they may be too afraid. try making sure everything is calm and if you have to, place food and treats and toys outside the cage. if this doesn't help, I'd recommend closely watching your rabbit and see if he is acting nervous or shy or scared

    My rabbit bugs, won't let me pick her up and if I do she starts kicking, she's only let me once when I brought her indoors for the first time... But how can she get used to me taking her in and picking her up? Without stressing her out

    • @sapphireotaku3399
      @sapphireotaku3399 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, I'd say just don't unless you really have to (like vet visits). Most bunnies hate being picked up because they're prey animals and not only are they being ''caught'' but they have no escape. I don't pick mine up unless I need to take them somewhere they can't hop to. :)
      My advice is pick them up, hold them until they calm, then put them somewhere they like. (Like pick them up and put them down to free range for a bit, but bribe them to get them to go back in their cage.) Positive association is key.

      They really don't like the up/down motion and the sight of the ground falling away on them, or, at least I think that's what's going on. But with Felicity, I just put a hand over her head and cover her eyes before picking her up from underneath, and that has worked for us. Putting down is still tricky, she still wants to scramble, but if you keep a girm and not tight hold - basically feel confident with them, the freak-outs should get less and less with time. I had a Dutch rabbit who didn't kick or scramble when being picked up or put down by the time he was probably about 2 years old. I know during the first year, things were a bit ticklish. And my Felicity has only been here for a few months, so she's got a way to go to grow out of this.

      My Netherland dwarf babies don't mind being picked up but they do kick a tiny bit sometimes, I think every rabbit will, but it depends on the rabbit, how you pick it up and if they are picked up a lot when they are young but as someone said already, they generally don't like being picked up because they are prey animals and prefer being on the ground

    • @MusicalMissCapri
      @MusicalMissCapri 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep - I think they are hardwired to do some kicking at first. But some may grow out of it, some may not. A rabbit that loves you just won't act like a prey animal around you, even if they kick a little with being picked up or put down. They're not afraid of you. Only certain motions beyond their control for a few moments.

      Victoria Esposito i took my guinea pigs about 4 months. I guess rabbits may take longer or shorter. When you first get it atleast leave it a week.

      +wee_innaa xo I do pellets in the morning, about 1/4 cup, and 1 1/2 vegetables every night. Also hay should be fed in unlimited quantities, so I fill it up a bunch of times every day. Also, thank you! :D
