Teared up a little when they started singing "Let's Go Fly a Kite"....I remember my first time watching Mary Poppins at my grandma's house when I was like 5 or 6. What a great life that man has had...Happy Birthday Dick Van Dyke!!
Ugh, I will never be able to listen to "Let's Go Fly a Kite" without tearing up all thanks to Saving Mr. Banks 😫 Also, it's quite astonishing that he still remembers all of the lyrics to the songs that he sang many years ago.
watchgoose you have not seen Saving Mr. Banks haven’t you? Because in that scene, they show the song to mrs. travers and she’s finally amused by it and starts singing it with them. That part was amazing
watchgoose also, the title of the movie about the making of Mary Poppins is called Saving Mr. Banks starring Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks. When heartfull92 says “he”, that person is referring to Dick Van Dyke as he turned 90 then. I agree though, it is amazing how he still remembers the lyrics after 55 years.

The one song that wasn't in the dance......"Let's Go Fly A Kite"..............the song at the end of Mary Poppins.........when the Banks Family gets together again...........

Considering the gravity of local, national, international events, it is an absolute joy (and a blessing) to know with certainty there is a lot more happiness in the World for the gifts, the life and the work of Dick Van Dyke. Happy 90th to the man with a positive attitude, who's responsible for generations of Happy Faces 55+ years.
@@vitothepizzaguy7475 Thank you for your comment. I had to go back myself. A lot happened before Dec. 13th (his birthday.) The results of the U.S. General Election, discovery of Russian (GRU) pro-Trump, Putin sanctioned, election interference therein - the hacking of DNC emails; FBI investigation of Clinton emails; release of candidate Trump's 2006 "touching" video; North Korea launched a long range rocket and conducted its 5th and largest nuclear test; a terrorist drove a truck through a crowded promenade killing 87 in Nice, France; a suicide bomb in Pakistan killed 75, injured 100s; terrorists also launched major attacks in Belgium (2 at the Brussels airport, 1 at its Metro Station - 35 killed, over 300 injured), and Orlando FL (Pulse, Gay nightclub shooting - 58 killed, 53 injured); the U.K. voted to leave the European Union; Egypt Air Flight 804 crashed on its way from Paris to Cairo; South Sudan’s civil war intensified; the release of the Panama Papers exposed how some wealthy people hide their money offshore; WHO announced the Zika virus was "spreading explosively" in the Americas; 2016 was the year Astronaut/Senator Glenn, Boxer Ali, novelist (Harper) Lee, actor Rickman, musicians Bowie and Prince died. A plus that year, it saw the first woman nominated to become U.S. President and (musician Steve "Go Cubs Go" Goodman's favorite team!) the Chicago Cubs won Game 7 of the World Series against Cleveland Indians. With all that happened, has happened - and 2020 just half over, I still believe you to be right, 2020 has definitely beat 2016.
Makes me remember when I was making hamburgers for Harvey Korman and Tim Conway in West LA and while they were waiting they were making each other crack up with their jokes. They loved what they did whether they were working or not. Loved it.
Can't stop smiling, watching this. This is something great happening in the world today! "Let's go fly a kite!" A great message for humanity from Disney and from a national treasure, Dick Van Dyke.
Just wonderful clean fun!!!! And he remembers all the lyrics still. God bless one of our truly talented actors. Yes may he have many more years with us.
At such a dismal time in American culture, great to see Dick Van Dyke, healthy and with a big smile on his face at 90. For those of us that teared up watching this, it is because it reminded us of better times in the 60's watching his family show on tv in black and white. Great humor without perversion, racial overtones, sex, and political correctness. Always the most likable person on TV. Happy Birthday !!!!
What a wonderful celebration for a wonderful man! Made me tear up. I was 8 years old when I saw "Mary Poppins". I've been a fan ever since. Happy Birthday, sir.
I grew up watching Dick Van Dyke, it was kind of strange because my foster dad looked like Dick Van Dyke and he's the one that introduced me to watching his movies, thank you Dad for that. My all-time favorite will always be Chitty Chitty bang bang.
1964, Caracas. A toddler sits on the floor watching Mary Poppins on his black and white Philips TV. He remembers Mr. Van Dyke and Julie Andrews, so alive, so happy, dancing and singing in this most wonderful musical. Happy Birthday to you, sir.
Happy Birthday to a true gentleman! My heart is so happy watching this...even if there's something in my eye. Thank you to all you sweet people for doing this for him!
