Basic biochemistry: You need protein to make froth. Not surprising, the more protein content the more froth you will get. This is a process called Denaturing. You can denature protein by blending or heating, in this case you do both (think of how you put an egg in a hot pan and the white, (albumin) turns white. That's the protein denaturing. Same with the high speed steam jet from traditional espresso makers, that's heat and blending--best of both worlds, why they can do those lovely drinks at the coffee shop.) I'm not sure how you'd get a nice thick froth from an oat, because oats have comparatively lower protein (also why it's easier to froth full fat milk rather than skim.). Nice video for side by side comparison, but the Jura is not available anymore, than I can see. Any model numbers or name on that one?
Yep, this is why you have separate plant milks for coffee. These have been common for really long now even in normal grocery stores. Kinda wonder why they didn't test those. Any barista or coffee drinker that uses plant milk would know it doesn't work. Quite often it can even separate due to heat. Overall, it feels bit redundant to actually test those.
Thanks for the review on different milk frothers plus types of milk! I’m sad to find out that one is no longer being sold but regardless this video is incredibly helpful. Now I know why the one my sister got was “not working”.
Thanks heaps for your test on all the frothers - very much appreciated,😀 as I could not get my so good almond barista milk to froth with the aerolatte hand frother but almond milk is not easy but I feel your jura one is the best after watching your test on all the frothers and milk - so you have helped me to sort out which one to buy - I wish more people would do what you have done with the frothers or other items as well, as it makes our job allot easier when we come to buy one.😀
Thank you for your demonstration with almond milk in particular. I was hoping to find a frother that could really integrate the foam rather than having it sit on top in a separate layer. None of these frothers can do what I hoped and that is valuable information. It saves me from buying a disappointment. Thank you.
Thanks for taking the time to test out all of these different milks. I drink almond milk. I bought a Keurig K- café and it produced no froth whatsoever, even though it said that it did. I had a really hard time returning it to Keurig as well so I’m done with that company. I know I’m buying a JURA now! I figured the most expensive one would do the best, who knew! SO AWESOME! Thank you so much, you saved me time, money and most importantly aggravation.😀
Thanks for this review video, I literally could not find any legitimate reviews for which machines were good at frothing almond milk, this was so helpful. 👍
I have the nespresso brand aero 3. It’s good for the price and it came bundled with my nespresso espresso machine. It’s honestly not that bad in my opinion. I also have the Calphalon Temp iQ espresso machine with steam wand and that is obviously much much better at steaming and frothing milk. But for an automatic, set it and forget it milk frother nespresso is ok.
Just got my SMEG from you in the mail yesterday!!! Just FYI regarding oat milk. They sell a Barista version that gets VERY frothy. Oatly Barista is the best oat milk to use but hard to find. Cant compare to others as I have only tried the one....but..... there was a lot of foam in my cup this morning.
Totally different. The built in frothers on a prosumer can be much better (if a wand) or much worse if automatic. Hard question to answer as each person has individual preferences for milk. But these do a great job on thick froth
Yes great video and very informative. I was trying to see if I can purchase the Jura frother, but I can’t find it on your website. Please advise. Thanks
I had the Nespresso and the Bodum. To me, the Nespresso is far superior to make my drink, cappuccino with 1% or 2% cow milk as Nespresso foam is denser. I miss my Nespresso.
now, I would like to see you showing also, how do they make the heat and foam. Do they infuse air in different ways, how do they whisk, etc. If they have parts that is easy to loose or come apart, it will give a hit to the ranking. I also wish you did the barista "dunk" to "set" the foam in the milk in pitcher, before pouring. It present the results a lot lot better to the audience.
Sorry I was watching the oat milk section and #4 seems to be the best, but I thought the smeg was #2? is it mislabeled? what is the machine that's next to the neospresso?
I heard that the breville has two frother parts - one for latte (less foam), and one for cappuccino. May I ask which part you installed when recording this?
If you leave the froth even for a minute after it completes the milk settles to the bottom and thick froth is left. You need to immediately take the frother and pour out. When you let it sit even for a minute the review is worthless. When the frother turns off, immediately swirl and then pour, that gives you a proper test
@@ecscoffeeinc gotcha, how would it be “possible” with oat milk? For example would the breville on latte setting set at 60 Celsius temp work if you put it in a latte art jug afterwards and “tap and swirl it” a few times to get rid of large bubbles? Have u ever tried it :) thank you!
Great demo, thanks! Guess this rules out the Nespresso. Never heard of Jura before but I’m inspired to splurge - I can tell already it is expensive! *Note: I only watched the skim milk section
I would imagine the Nespresso was one of the best ones the problem was it was left too long before it was poured out so very very unfair so this experiment is not working at all unfortunately each one should’ve been done on its own instead of waiting for them when they’ve been done to them pull them out of the glass it doesn’t work. And milk only comes from cows
I saw this video and immediately put Jura on my Xmas wishlist last year. My husband got it for me and I was so happy because I was able to make perfectly frothed oat milk for a couple of months. The product quickly deteriorated after that. The oat milk would not froth anymore, it just got heated and slight foamy but nowehere to that level shown in the video. I took it down to the customer service center here in Singapore and they assured me that the device was fine, I just need to buy a SGD36 cleansing tablets for it. So I did. It didn't work. Eventually, after a couple of months the device just stopped working altogether. When I sent it back to center they just kept telling me that it was fine. I showed them a video of how it would not turn on. And I told them I tried it on every socket in our house, they still insisted it was fine. I've never been so infuriated with a product and service in my life. You'd think that a device this expensive came with better customer care, but they just denied it at every turn. I would think many times before purchasing a jura milk frother. It's not worth it the disappointment. Do not waste your SGD233! (Especially if you live in Singapore where the service center is so far away, it costs a lot of money to send your device for inspection/servicing.)
I loved this review. You're the anti-James Hoffman. You're a typical guy who thinks there's nothing wrong with tasting the milk with your fingers! Love it! 😆
Milk only comes from cows God knows what the other stuff is but if you look at it the ingredients will mostly be water and salt and maybe some sugar I’d like to see this done with proper whole milk
This is by far the best milk frother review I have found. Thanks 🙏🏻

Lol this was the best thing I have watched in so long! So informative and entertaining! It seems that I need to save up for a Jura.
Hey Jack! please you may do an update, the Jura is no longer available and there is a new expresso model Aero 4 :) Thanks for your time!
Thanks for the review on different milk frothers plus types of milk! I’m sad to find out that one is no longer being sold but regardless this video is incredibly helpful. Now I know why the one my sister got was “not working”.
Yeah, the Jura, which seemed to fair well is no longer available... 😞
Thank you for this GREAT comparison! Can you make another one that includes the Maestri House milk frother? And also do a temperature check?
ขอบคุณมากกกกค่ะ First I would like to go buy Nespresso or Smeg after I’ve seen these video. I need to think about it..Thanks a lot man.

Is the Jura still the best option for oat milk in 2024?
Thanks for taking the time to test out all of these different milks. I drink almond milk. I bought a Keurig K- café and it produced no froth whatsoever, even though it said that it did. I had a really hard time returning it to Keurig as well so I’m done with that company.

Thanks to this video I have decided that I will get a Breville milk frother for my xmas present! Regards from Mexico. :)
Happy holidays!
appreciate the oat milk portion - thank you!
I got mine today at goodwill for 3 dollars it was one of the more expensive ones +250, pretty good deal
😲
Thanks for this review video, I literally could not find any legitimate reviews for which machines were good at frothing almond milk, this was so helpful. 👍
Glad I could help!
i couldve had zero interest in milk frothing and still enjoyed this
Thanks for an honest and fun to watch review. The visuals really help! I’ve made up my mind👍
Thank you for this video now I know which milk frother to buy
try giving it a swirl before you pour to release the froth and avoid having to scrape it out (and possibly damage it)
Great tip
Thank you soooo much! This was incredibly helpful for milk alternatives!!
You should have reviewed all of them with the same amount of milk, eg: 300ml/1cup in all of them for fair comparison. Just a thought?
Video needs a redo anyway as the Jura is no longer available...good suggestion!
What Jura model is this? Is there a new one out?
This is quite fun. I have an old Nespresso that I use soy milk in. All the plant milks are supposed to be shaken and it didn’t look like he did that.
You may be correct. He did not shake. I will ask him.
Jura 🤗🤗🤗 ,and the video was very enjoyable to watch.
I own the nepresso and the Breville, the Breville as best
This is a great video thank you - not a dairy drinker so this is valuable 👍🏻
Thanks for your in-depth review especially with alternate milk.
My pleasure!
A much needed review .. i have the nespresso milk frother but the milk temp is not that hot.. so i’v been thinking of getting a better one . Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for showing it with soy and almond milk♥️
My pleasure 😊
Breville the best !!!! 👍

Thanks Tal!
This is the best review I’ve seen in all of TH-cam for alternative milks. Where can I buy the Jura in America?
Thank you, this was by far the best frother review!.. 🥛✔
Glad it was helpful!
Lol thank you for such funny reviews! Subscribed!🎉
A mi me serviría mucho si estuviera en español.
Para poder elegir.
Gracias
Outstanding Job!!!😃Thank You So Much!!! Very Helpful In Making My Decision!!!💯😎🌴
Anyone know any updates about getting jura in the US?
Which was the bestvoe and link please.. the Jura??
Lol...you taste testing the non-dairy...made my morning. 🤣
Thank you man, you saved my life
how would the best here perform vs the built in frother of a $1000 prosumer espresso machine please?
Totally different. The built in frothers on a prosumer can be much better (if a wand) or much worse if automatic. Hard question to answer as each person has individual preferences for milk. But these do a great job on thick froth
It’s the Gellan. In non dairy milk you’ll need to make sure it lists Gellan as an ingredient.
Great video, thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Great vlog “Jack in the kitchen” 🤗
Great side by side video.
Is the Jura no longer available? I cannot find it on your website or online.
Unfortunately after this video...it was discontinued by the manufacturer.
Hi, great video! After watching, you sold me on the Jura, but I can’t find a retailer. I’m in the u.s. Have they been discontinued?
Yes...after the video...about two weeks after we got the announcement of the discontinuation :(
@@ecscoffeeinc Ah, bummer! Thank you for your reply!
Yes great video and very informative. I was trying to see if I can purchase the Jura frother, but I can’t find it on your website. Please advise. Thanks
It has been discontinued worldwide since this video was created.
I am sure that people with severe milk allergies are going to wanna know about regular milk the most!
Awesome review. Very thorough and funny :D
Thanks a ton!

Unfortunately after this video it was discontinued by the manufacturer.

I'm trying to get a Jura frother but can not get it online 😕
It was discontinued:(
Informative video, but no I'm not most curious about the regular cows milk, not at all.
Do you know why they discontinued the Jura frother?
Sorry we do not know.
@@ecscoffeeinc Gotcha. Thank you. If you had to recommend the second best option would you suggest the Breville these days?
@@nonstickspray Yes that would be the best right now!
I’ve got an espresso and the reason why it was milk at the bottom left it too long before you put it into the glass

@@ecscoffeeinc I'm sad to read that. It was exactly what I need. Hot and frothy. Thanks for letting me know.
I heard that the breville has two frother parts - one for latte (less foam), and one for cappuccino. May I ask which part you installed when recording this?
We used the cappuccino wisk on all of them.
Have you tried with 1%, 2% or 3% cow milk?
We typically do skim as it froths better and is recommended. The more fat, the less the froth

Edit never mind I see it’s discontinued
Yes it is :(
Do you still sale the Jura? I have a 404 page when I click on your link.
Jura has. been discontinued by the manufacturer after this video was made.
They make almond milk in a much thicker consistency. Also 50% original almond milk and 50% unsweetened taste closer to cows milk!
How much milk do they hold?
can any of these make latte art?
with oat milk :)?
Possible but very hard...especially with oat milk

Wow...thanks for testing and sharing 😀

Yeah I’m having a hard time finding it too
@@jacquelinevs so since this video...it is now discontinued :(
what is the name of brand that made it the hottest?

HINT: You have SHAKE the alternative milk thoroughly before pouring!!!!
cold foam is supposed to be made with heavy whipping cream do a video like that
Whipping cream does not do well in these frothers unfortunately
If you have to make 5 coffees the Jura is pretty much useless, it's going to take an hour to get them all done..
It's called a milk pitcher 😐
Actually I don't care which frother is better. What I am concerning is the way you show us, it's fun(づ◡ど)

Why don’t they put the milk in cartons in Canada like they do the almond milk?!
Skim milk as all the goodness taken out of it and it taste appalling what a shame
