45:59 is my favorite play of this whole game and no one ever remembers it. Magic and Bird connecting to end the half, with Bird draining the three from about 3 feet BEHIND the line. L E G E N D A R Y

I loved one the coaches reactions after getting obliterated by this Dream Team.. "You can not cover the Sun with just your finger".... a 79 point blowout that's absolutely incredible....and it could've easily been 100. These are ridiculous video game numbers in real life. The '92 Dream Team has NO EQUAL.

As I re watch this broadcast it just seems crazy when Marv Albert casually comments about Chuck Daly being able to talk about subbing in "Stockton, Malone, Pippen" I mean, three hall of famers? This team was ridiculous. All of the players were in their athletic prime (with the exception of Bird) Magic, despite the HIV, was in tremendous shape. And while Bird was limited with his back, his bbiq was such that it didn't even matter. Greatest team ever.
While there have been arguments about the 2008 squad vs 1992, I think a more interesting idea would be to comprise a team of players from 1992 that could potentially hold their own with the Dream Team.
Here is my group(includes a couple of international players, and one college player) :
    1. Isiah Thomas--goes without saying--next best point guard not to be on the team--and some would argue he should've been
    2. Joe Dumars--championship experience, good defender, 20 point scorer--athleticlly in his prime
    3. Dominique Wlikins (pre-injury he was averaging 28 a game in 1991-92 season),
    4. Hakeem--He wasn't a U.S. citizen, or he could've been on the Dream Team. Averaged 21 and 12 during the 91-92 season...and his playoff runs in 94 and 95 were legendary.
    5. Arvydas Sabonis,--Quite frankly, he is one of the reasons there was a Dream Team period. Sabonis was unbelievable. Avereage 22 and 13 in the Euroleague in 1991-92 season. Had Sabonis been with the Blazers in the late 80s and early 90s, NBA history might have been quite different.
    6. Drazen Petrovic--Speaking of a player that was with the Blazers, Petrovic ended up blossoming after he was traded to New Jersey..but the 1992 Olympics was his coming out party. He went toe to toe with MJ---tough player
    7. Reggie Miller-20 point scorer, and would stretch the floor for this team--clutch as well.
    8. Reggie Lewis--Bird had passed the torch to Lewis in 1991-92, and had tragedy not struck, Reggie Lewis would've been one of the all-time greats. He was a 20 point per game scorer, excellent defensively (he once blocked MJ 4 times in one game--look it up), and was smooth
    9. Mitch Richmond, 22.5 ppg in 1991-92, and a damn good shooter as well.
    10. Mark Price--My answer for John Stockton--Price was a stud. He could pass, shoot, and was lightning quick.
    11. Dennis Rodman--He averaged 18 rebounds per game in 1991-92, was a reigning 2-time defensive player of the year, and had chemistry with Dumars and Thomas.
12.. Of course Shaq as the obligatory college player. Like Isiah Thomas, Shaq was a notable snub from the original dream team.
Would this team beat the dream team in a 7 game series? Probably not. Could it compete and perhaps win some games? Absolutely. This team has scoring (inside with Hakeem, Shaq, and Sabonis) Add Rodman for rebounding and inside defensive presence.--outside shooting with Reggie Miller, Price, Petrovic) Richmond, athletic slashers with Wilkins and Lewis. Thomas and Price could break down and score or dish off the dribble. This team would have a nice blend of youth and experience as well.
Other 12-man units that could've competed???

    • @kingcam0775
      @kingcam0775 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I don't think this team could win any games against the Dream Team in a 7 game series, frankly. You could put together a team from the 2010s that would, but not during a given year. You'd have to have guys during their peaks. Also I don't even think that team would win in a series.
