Hello... I'm pressing "alt" to reverse the direction of a brush to create depressed areas, but I keep getting this big swath of deep black coloring onto the model. Why is it doing this? I believe it is reversing the direction of the brush, but the solid black region it leaves behind makes it difficult to see the results. Thank you!
Thank you for the Tutorial. One question. If I have made a scene that I want to wrap around the front of say a breast plate, will this method work? Not a tileable alpha, just a single image. Thank you.

I believe so! You can also try using Morph UV for it, or z-wrap
