Move to Australia, New Zealand and Canada on the rise

  • There've been countless surveys highlighting the impact of emigration from South Africa. The shrinking tax base and the loss of skills have been the most concerning. Most of these surveys cite safety, employment and - more recently - powercuts as the push factors out of South Africa. #DStv403

I moved to New Zealand in 2007 and have never looked back. New Zealand is a great country if you want a good education and plenty of opportunities. With an unemployment rater of 3% why wouldn't you move here for work and it's also in the top 3 when it comes to safety. I love South Africa still and do visit but if you have the opportunity I can say it's worth the jump.

I think most people leaving are basing their decision on exactly that, fear of losing their lives in this crime ridden cest pool and the fact it's caused by a majority who keep on voting incompetent politicians into power. The hate factor then comes in because we know what a stunning country we have and the possibilities but it gets worse with every election, it doesn't make sense.

Came across this video in August 2022 and I agree with Ashley Marks comments: These countries are trying to lure skilled workers from here cause they need more tax payers in their economies.....see countries based on regions are all trying to compete with each other (Asia vs West, Russia vs West, Europe vs East Europe, North America vs Europe) to be at the forefront of Creation, Expansion and Conquest into the next frontier.....and in order to do that, you need a healthy econonmy that can keep having skilled workers who build et etc. I'm a Java Developer and was approached by a company in New Zealand to come and work that side. There's nothing amazing about the other side, it's just that it's managed better by the governments compared to ANC-Led Government. | As for me I like New Zealand however I'm more a South American type of guy.....Colombia, Brazil or Argentina.....that's where I want to go and stettle down and start a new family....come back and retire in EC South Africa.

NZ my not be perfect in the cost of living situation at the moment because of the influx of migrants and refugees which is placing pressure on our economy but it's the lifestyle that people seek, to be able to leave your house windows and door open, car unlock, kids to be able to walk to school alone and not hide behind guarded gates and fences. @@mushy111 I think you are right. I'm from the Netherlands and we too have falling birthrates. Our analysts claim, that it is due to the fact that people (men AND women) give priority to study and career, and wanting to have fun, travel, etc, before settling down and start a family. If they are having children at all, in NL couples start having children when they're in their early thirties, and they stick to one child, two at the most. Even though they would have no trouble in supporting a family, even with today's costs.
It has nothing to do with the cost of living. In fact, the (relatively) poorer people, who didn't went to uni or have a "career", and who are more vulnerable to the cost of living, tend to have more children.

They can turn that nation into the number one African state but they are denied. Whites who can will leave and the others who can’t will stay and prepare for the eventual chaos and war that’s coming.

Hmm...I lived in Australia for many years and I could readily identify white South Africans from their accent; going everywhere in groups, a bit misfit, etc. I didn't get the feeling they really enjoyed living there - Aussie culture has far too much of a British high brow twist as compared to South Africa. Even their sense of humour is darker than that of South African. But I would not call it 'racist' as some commenters have stated here.

South Africans should never criticise Australians as being racist I have spent plenty of time in conversations with South Africans of all colours and got a fair insight into their true feelings. I think the only difference from my first stay back in 1995 to my last stay in 2019 is that the racism today is much more hidden people are not as likely to openly express what they are really thinking. I got to spend plenty of time with my local colleagues over a few beers and it wouldnt take them long to start telling me what they really thought about whats happening in RSA today especially those old enough to remember back to the times before the ANC started running the place...

I don't get the logic of some of the people here.
If you're leaving because the economy sucks, and you decide to take your skills to another country with a better economy, how will our economy not suck then?
You were supposed to add to the economy to make it less suckier, but you leave and it doesn't grow.
All this tells me that -more than ever, I need to stay in South Africa.
If bricks are falling off a building, you don't remove more bricks, you stay put so that the building stays stable, and then work on adding more bricks to replace the ones that left.
You know, reading all these comments made me realise that some people are just meant to be followers, and not builders.
As disliked as some of the [White] DA officials are, one can't ever say that they don't fight for this nation, every single day.
They are disliked, but they are true patriots. True builders.
And I will respect the person who fights for the wellbeing of their nation as well as the future of their children, than the one who moved and "prays" for South Africa.
